Starscreams get grey heads because in the g1 cartoon, Starscream's head is appears more grey than black, as appose to the other seekers who are more visibly black.
Yeah, just compare his stock art to Thundercracker for example, Starscream's head is a lighter, and the highlights are outright light grey, indicating that his head is meant to be read as dark grey. Skywarp's and Thundercracker's highlights are so dark in animation, that they tend to disappear if the picture quality gets too bad, making their helmets look like solid black.
I thought it was based on the vent-like detailing of Starscream's helmet-like head having originated as part of the grey-plastic nosecone of the original toy.
The POTP Starscream never seemed interesting to me but it was such a missed opportunity to not repaint it into Leozack so we could have had a better torso for the CW Liokaiser
On the subject of POTP Starscream, I think they should've added 2 more Decepticons in the last was of POTP deluxes to make the Starscream combiner more complete.

The Ghost Starscream combiner, when in arm mode, has Cyclonus/Galvatron's arm cannon plug into the port on the wing, again to emulate Galvatron's cannon, and it does hold up decently.
I like that Masterpiece mold specifically because of how realistic the vehicle mode is. In my opinion that's what Masterpiece is suppose to do. That's the standard they originally set when the line first started. I stopped caring about Masterpiece when they started going more animation accurate and less real world accuracy because it felt like they weren't really Masterpiece anymore when they did that. I will agree the color scheme is not great. The reds and blues should be a lot more vibrant and not as muted as they are there. I have that mold as Skywarp and I love that figure. Also side note... I never thought of Arcee as "Mermaid" it felt more like a bat Arcee than Mermaid. In fact they literally repainted that mold as Optimus Primal along with Knockout as Megatron as a reference to the original two pack from Beast Wars. Oddly enough we've not gotten a repaint of Ratchet as Dinobot because he's very clearly a TM2 Dinobot homage for some reason.
I was just looking at my CW Bruticus and my PotP Starscream and wondering why I never tried combining them. That’s one of the few combinations I think would make sense for Starscream. I also think it was a missed opportunity not to make a Deluxe Seeker in PotP to make one large Seeker combiner for Starscream. Sure, it would have been as boring as adding all the fembots to Elita-1 but it would have made a modicum of sense. The second I saw this video, I knew PotP would be on this list. He’s in my box of “toys to get rid of” right now and I won’t regret it when he’s gone. I might have to try attaching the Combaticons on just one time before that though. When you mentioned the first attempt at recreating Starscream, I was positive you were about to talk about Pretender Starscream. I honestly think you could have stretched your rules to include him. Honorable mention: Earthspark Deluxe Starscream. I really like the Cyberverse Deluxe. But as established, Cyberverse Starscream looks nothing like Earthspark Starscream so reusing the mold was just lazy. I could have accepted it if they’d retooled the head a bit at the least. Also, why did they make the cockpit section of the toy out of clear plastic on the ES version? You could argue that it was to make his cockpit translucent except they painted that part of it gold! So instead you have this hinged section that is unnecessarily clear and just waiting to break. Such a stupid repaint.
12:11 Some 3rd party company (ideally Spark Toys, Civil Warrior, MMC, Planet X, or Maketoys (MP scale), or alternately Iron Factory (Legends scale)) REALLY needs to make PROPER Dreamwave War Within Seekers, given that the actual comic designs are great (I especially like how the G1 toy decals are translated into sculpted detail in the shoulder pylons), but the Titanium toys SUCK and are not very accurate either...

I understand Unite warriors starsscream on here with the clear plastic, and was surprised you didn't include the gold lagoon recolor, but the shattered glass repaint is a great alternative and its only fault is that it wasn't widely available.
Shattered Glass can be anything. SG Starscream isn’t restricted to having to look like Cybertron Starscream; that was just the first toy of SG Starscream.
I feel even for a deliberate budget cheap Authentics, Alpha Starscream is too cheap with ball socket sticks as *sliders*. They're going to popoff or worse break, why not sliding beams? Also no heels. A shame since it's the only mainline scale evergreen design toy.
On the subject of Starscream, I feel like Raven would be a fitting beast mode for him given that ravens are pretty smart and Starscream can be a good schemer sometimes.
I am so shocked Animated voyager isn’t on here, I guess that’s a testament to how good Animated was. That figure was the weakest of the entire line but was still pretty solid.
Hot take: Earthrise Starscream should be on this list. The transformation design and clearance issues are really annoying, particularly the chest transformation. They used the Classics seeker mold design, but they made it worse. Also, I'd put just about every movie Starscream on this list.
I 100% agree with everything you said about the Alternity figure. I have practically every Starscream figure, and that's one of the few I would say is a BAD figure. (Which is a shame for the novelty of the car mode)
Honestly, if you think the SG Starscream combiner toy looks bad in robot mode, I recommend looking up its vehicle mode. That cockpit section looks straight-up unfinished.

I like beast hunters starscream but i do treat that toy like a different character. Like just pick one of the names of the euro-g1 predators and say he is friends with skyquake

This toy is HORRIBLE… thankfully they made one that is MILES better, and that’s the second warrior class Cyberverse Starscream and it’s MILES better than this one. That Starscream, while his star seeker missile gimmick is pretty terrible, his robot mode isn’t bad, and his jet mode, as simple as it is, is really fun! It gets even better too, because they actually used the mold to make a 4 pack with ghost Starscream, Skywarp AND Thundercracker, as well as thrust! I definitely recommend getting the star seeker missile warrior class Starscream and the 4 pack, but steer clear of this piece of shit figure.
Cyberverse Warrior Starscream is easily one of the worst Transformers ever released imo. When you put it next to some of the other CV Warriors its embarrassingly bad, even worse compared to the RiD'15 and Earthspark Warriors
Don't get a model kit maker to design your Transformers. If you know how to design model kits, why are you making something that needs to transform? Bandai have tried making transforming Gundam model kits, and most of them don't work that well because the plastic just is for that.
Say what you will about the original MP Starscream but that was the 1st to be made in the new scale toys even though MP10 usually gets the credit mp03 did it yests before
Earthrise isn’t all that good like taking the classics figure that’s what over 15 years old or beyond that is an odd move especially with how fun the siege version was going from that to Earthrise is a sour taste, then the coronation is just the same figure with fingers sold at a leader price yea that had a happy shelf home. That really should’ve been a new mold as it’s a seeker it’s gonna lay off in repaints and coneheads The combiner wars I think had a missed opportunity in power of the primes starscream was a voyager combiner and we had dreadwind and darkwing with the starscream also being a deluxe for that ghost/shattered glass repaint that into thunder cracker with skywarp and you could’ve had a seeker combiner with starscream as the torso, skywarp/thundercracker as the arms, and dreadwind/darkwing as the legs. That could’ve help brighten up that mold
I mean as far as the actual character in the show goes, sure. But we're not talking about that, we're talking about strictly toys here, and toy wise Energon Starscream wasn't too bad.

I use mine with the combaticons as limbs and call the combiner Brigade, after the episode’s name “Starscream’s Brigade”
I tend to have him combined with Swindle, jet Blast Off, Dreadwind, and Off-Road as “Regicyde”.
