Clarke Quay is a historical riverside quay in Singapore, located within the Singapore River Planning Area, upstream from the mouth of the Singapore River and Boat Quay. Named after Sir Andrew Clarke, Singapore's second Governor, Clarke Quay played a pivotal role in establishing Singapore as the main port for the Malay states in the late 19th century. The area is known for its vibrant nightlife, with five blocks of restored warehouses housing various restaurants and nightclubs. Additionally, refurbished Chinese junks (tongkangs) serve as floating pubs and restaurants. Clarke Quay is also home to the G-MAX reverse bungee, Singapore's first such attraction, and is accessible via the Clarke Quay MRT station on the North East line. Over the years, the government has revitalized the area while preserving its historical value, making it a bustling commercial, residential, and entertainment precinct that attracts over 2 million visitors annually.
