    I grew up in Singapore and am currently studying in a small student town in the UK. let me just say I much prefer going out in the UK as opposed to here. Firstly, people there on a night out are just more friendly which adds to much to the experience. Add the fact that it's significantly cheaper to go out there and my town has 24 hour buses (quite sure most towns in the UK have those). Also, in the UK both genders pay a small entry fee, rather than in Singapore where guys often pay extortionate amounts to enter a club while their female counterparts walk in for free (even so, in the UK there is still a healthy gender mix in clubs). Add the fact that in Singapore several major clubs are quite far from one another (apart from the ones congregated at Clarke Quay) so you cannot easily bounce between clubs while in small towns in the UK like mine, they are usually centralised on one street. In all fairness though, I will state that the food you find after a night out in Singapore is much much better than what you get at late hours in the UK. Overall, Singapore's nightlife scene is flashy and bright but I still much prefer the UK's.

    Funny how her accent when presenting sounds American but when she is with locals her accent is more singaporean

      Funny you said that, that's exactly how I speak here, and my mom is really against the latter (I'm not even Singaporean, the accent is so easy to pick up lol)

      It's actually common for many English speakers here to switch back and forth. We can lay on heavy Singlish as a gesture of informality and friendliness, but switch back to proper English for formal occasions or when conversing with foreigners in case they struggle to understand Singlish. It's a sign of respect in both cases.

    • @babysherl493
      @babysherl493 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Me & everyone else in my family plus relatives speak fluent english, and I too switch to Singlish and some Mandarin (Mine isn’t good lol) with my friends or other Singaporeans. It’s easier to converse. Like for example I don’t say Sure, let’s grab lunch. I say “Okay can lor, I anything one” 😂

      @@TheBeatboxHitmanTwo As a Singaporean, let me say the pros and cons. Going to Singapore is one thing but staying there is another.
      Singapore is a cool and clean country. It has good foods, attractions, beautiful places but singapore itself is small. Once you have visited every place, you will get bored. You will start to realise that there's nothing to do in this small island surrounded by the ocean. Its hot in the day but cold at night. Singapore is also known as one of the most expensive country, so you will need $$$. Singapore citizens are like robots, once they see something out of the ordinary... They go crazy (take vids, stare at you etc). Basically Singaporeans are tamed to be well behaved creatures. Singapore is also one of the most safest and nicest country. Its hard to get famous or popular in Singapore. Lets say you want to be an artist, film director, sports star, its hard to earn for a living even if you are one. Unless you are crazy known throughout the whole continent, you won't earn much. That's why a lot of famous people in Singapore go to other countries to make a living.
