Dragon Quest doesn't get nearly the love it deserves in the US, and you have no idea how happy it makes me to see channels like yours try and bring more attention to that beloved franchise.
This is gonna be a long comment and I know that this was last year but, wow, you did a good job comparing both the sub and dub of this anime! And I was gonna do it too after I finished watching both sub and dub for the second time last year, but I got so busy doing something else! I really wish this anime gets more recognition just like Dragon Quest: Dai no Daibouken (if you ever heard of it). The show's opening and ending music in the Japanese version (Yume wo Shinjite is by far my favorite song to listen to over and over) is amazing and the soundtrack of the background music can be found somewhere on TH-cam (note: not the Saban dub's music). Maybe someday, these characters will come back in the future for more (although it's unlikely). And out of all of the anime I watch, this is by far my favorite one on the top of my list (I even like to say it's my comfort anime) and I could talk a lot about the show, but nah. Again, good job and keep up the good work with your videos. 😁 Also, about that dragon... Saban could've just done a 4Kids edit by painting out the scar that Daisy left... just saying 😂.
2:00 Actually, the reason why Dragon Quest was retitled as Dragon Warrior for the entire franchise till Dragon Quest VIII brought back the name was due to the Pen and Paper game that was marked as DragonQuest. (There is no space between the Dragon and Quest in that Pen & Paper game.)
Just a quick note: in the localized NES game, the starting village was translated as Aliahan. It kind of drove me nuts that the translated anime missed that detail and instead called it Ariahan.
This was the first anime that I knew was an anime, and it was my favorite anime when I was a small child. I remember the dub fondly and was excited to get my hand on the Japanese version when I grew older.
I noticed they cut out a lot of minor running scenes. (at least two in the first ep.). The dub also changes the tone of some of the characters. A lot more back and forth bickering betweeorphann mokomoko and Yanack in the sub. As well as Tiala being more blunt. in EP 4 mokoko wants Daisy to join them due to her strength, whereas in the dub they resort to typical girls are weak dialogue. Tons of dialogue changes which can be funny. Stealing Tiala sword in dub vs wanting to see her naked. Lost kid biting Abel due to stranger danger rather than because Abel called her mistakenly a boy.
Far as I can remember the english dub had a bad time slot very early in the morning. But it easily could have gotten better ratings for them to finish it if it aired at a better time slot

So the American version actually uses the original Japanese orchestra soundtrack release. Shuki Levy did not re-arrange any of the game music. The reason for this change is probably because Sugiyama was very particular about licensing rights for his music up until his death, this is worth looking into.
I was surprised enough by both the existence of an anime based on a manga based on a video game and Dai being a playable character in Jump Force, but the fact that this actually got an English dub seems unreal, especially since even Square Enix acknowledge that no one outside Japan likes this franchise (as evidenced by DQX never getting localized)
Obviously dragon Ball z not kai.kai version sucks.watch dragon Ball z with american soundtrack (funimation dub) not the original funimation dub they redubbed dragon Ball z because the first time voice actors were new and they didn't know how to perform good but the second time they dubbed dragon Ball z its fucking classic i recommend you to watch dbz not kai

This is great! I'm surprised anyone remembers this (Every time I mention it to someone they have no idea what I'm talking about!). I LOVED this series so much as a teen (I'm 46 now). I played the series on my NES hardcore! (I'm female too, btw). So happy to see more fans of this series! I used to watch this series along with Mysterious Cities of Gold and Spartikus and the Sun Beneath the Sea! I got to see the Japanese episodes a long time ago because at a comic convention in Chicago (in Rosemont) a vendor was offering the bootlegged series on DVD for purchase and I jumped at it since I had no idea that there were more than 13 episodes release!
the moral of the story... CENSORSHIP SUCKS!!!!!! That horned monster in episode 13, the one that Abel cuts if the horn, looks exactly like Zarlox, a boss from Dragon warrior 2.

This show had a special place in my heart before I even knew what anime was watching as a kid. Just knew it was special like Voltron and robotech.
