You know that is quite possible. Mrs Lovat does seem to know all about the Beldam, for one thing she wouldn't let kids live there obviously, so then she seems to know somehow that the pink palace is only a problem for kids. And in the whole "youre crazy" scene (it's still on TH-cam) Coraline was looking for her doll and she said "where are you hiding you little monster", and then Wybie said "you and Grandma been talking?" So if his grandma often says things like that I guess that means most likely she knows all about the Beldam. And how would she know or even believe in it, unless she's seen it for herself? Especially since she somehow knew that the pink palace is somehow related to her sisters disappearance AND she wouldn't let Wybie in there because it's "dangerous".
can you please theorize on how coraline's mom knew which key to use. she may have just seen the first weird looking key she saw for an oddly placed door but still. or another frankenweenie theory.

There are theories about if the cat is Wybie's father and maybe if it's true that the Beldam did take the father and turned him into a cat (or something like that) maybe Wybie's mother was pregnant with Wybie at the time and she couldn't handle being a single mother? Thus causing her to give the baby to the grandmother because she has experience with raising children. And the cat is near Wybie because his father is trying to protect him and since Coraline is obviously Wybie's friend, his father is trying to protect Coraline too because maybe Wybie has no friends because kids arent able to be at the Pink Palace? So when Coraline moved in, met Wybie, but then Coraline went through the little door, the cat wanted Wybie, his son, to have a friend so he was trying to save Coraline? That's a thought but I think it fits in pretty well 😊
Maybe Wybies mom did want to be around or she passes during giving birth?

when Wybie's grandma calls for him, she addresses him as Wyborn.. so she did not nickname him Wybie because Wyborn is a mean name that his parents gave him with malicious intent.

The name Wyborn is a Norse name that means “war bear”. The name isn’t really used very often, so I always thought he was named after someone. Maybe a deceased family member or something. Coraline was just teasing him about his name because she’s a kid and that’s what kids do. No adult would do something like that.

What if whybie’s parents were kidnapped by the bedlam and that’s why they’re not around and why he lives with his grandmother. Also, it might explain why whybie hates being in the pink palace and won’t go near the door to the other world.
Just a theory
Wybie doesnt hate going in there. The grandma would've moved out ASA she grew up. So I doubt that they were kidnapped. As I said, he didnt hate going in there, his grandma didnt want the beldam to take him away. It was bc of the grandmas sister, not her kids. It says that in the movie. Nothing about the parents.

Wybie said that his grandma owns The Pink Palace. So it's possible that Wybie's parents or grandma's daughter or son lived with Wybie in there sometime. What if Wybie knew about the portal more than grandmother told him, what if he was trapped as Coraline long before the events in the film and his parents were lost as Coraline's but neither he nor his grandmother couldn't find them. After escaping Wybie lost the memory and was undergoing treatment that affected on his behavior (head incline, kinda strange hobbies, manner of speaking). Maybe that's why he can't say more (not only because he was prohibited but he can't remember all of this things). And grandma always afraid he can remember this nightmare and be lost forever in this time as her sister and Wybi's mom or dad. Maybe Wybie refresh one's memory when he wanted Coraline to open the little door...
So I think there is a dark story about disappearing Wybie's parents and this is why the grandma call Wybie "Why Were You Born" (he caused the lost of grandma's daughter or son and the grandma didn't want Wybie born at all to protect her child from Beldam).

Why does this actually make sense
I believe that the cat is actually the Bell Dams son who fell down the well and died. Desperate to bring him back, she attempted to dabble in her dark arts and had him reincarnated through the cat,, however not without limitations. This otherwordly being, the cat, needed an enviorment which matched his soul which is why the Bell Dam created the portal in the well which also feeds his existence the way the eyes feed her existence.The original portal. So desperate still for the void in her heart to be filled by a child she began stealing others children. Once she realized she could gain power off of their eyes, the cycle began. So there is an implication that whatever goes through the well does not come back; the doll in the begining and the key. Which is why the Bell Dam created a more accessible portal, the door which allowed the children and mice to freely pass.

My theory is that a girl a long time ago discovered the the world through the door, and then was trapped in there. After that she was forced to eat the children that entered it after her, because she couldn’t leave, and then became each girls mother one by another.
My theory about his parents is that they lived in the pink palace and when he was little they were taken by the belldam but instead of eating their souls she use them as part of characters in her little world such as the other Wybie Miss Spink and Miss forceable and Mr. B and the other father

Gross Nonsense that wouldn't make sense. Coralines parents were taken because the beldam wanted to lure Coraline herself. The beldam didn't want wyborn so why would she take his parents?
So Wybie found the Coraline doll in Miss Lovatt’s car, which could possibly mean that she didn’t want Coraline to find it and be taken by the Beldam like her twin sister
Okay so am I missing something? So Wybie says that his grandma never lets children live in the pink place but why did Wybie’s grandma let coraline move in? Was it just a reason for the book/movie or was it something else?😂

There's a theory that the grandma realized the Beldam was getting desperate and she didn't want Wybie to be a victim so she sold the house to people with a child on purpose to keep him safe.
Oh snap. I can only imagine an alternate prologue where the doll originally looked like Wybie and he brings it to his Nan “Hey Grandma! Check this out!” Her heart would have stopped.
That is also why i believe the cat both helps the Bell Dam and tries to defy her by protecting Coraline. He died when he was only a child and likely had no knowledge of his mother's witchcraft so when he found out, after already being dead, he was scared of her, which would explain why he doesn't talk around the Bell Dam but only meows. He countinuosly aids in Coralines escape from his mother because he sees Coraline as a friend, as he did with all the children. However I believe that the reason why the other children were not helped was because the cat/her son did not truly understand what his mother was doing and was still helping her at the time. Given he holds child like innocence still and loves his mother. Although he clearly states "I THINK she just wants someone to love" meaning he has given this some thought over the years which also means he's getting smarter, which only comes with age. The older he gets, the more he realizes what is wrong with the otherworld. That is why he was so spot on when he described the otherworld as a "dream come true" to Coraline because it was to him as well, BEFORE he found out the truth.You may ask then why does he not just completely stop helping his mother? This reason I think is a selfish one. As I said the otherworld feeds his exsistence which is why he is always returning to it. If the Bell Dam stopped taking children, she would have no more magic to fuel her life or the world, effectively killing them both: for good.

quick google search: "The name Wyborn is a Norse baby name. In Norse the meaning of the name Wyborn is: War bear." However, I think the name's likeness to 'why were you born' makes more sense as war bear doesn't have any context in the story. I'm not sure if it's meant to be a Norse reference.
I think Wybie gave himself the nickname as his grandmother still calls him Wyborn. A Coraline theorist said that he might be named for that because what is the use of being born if he will be possibly taken away by the Beldam. That is sad, but it could mean he was wanted and loved.

Wybie’s parents must have lived at the pink palace before Wybie was born. Probably because the grandma is one of their parents. It had been a while since the last child was at the palace ( grandma’s sister) I assume the Beldam wanted to take control as soon as Wybie’s mom got pregnant. Maybe the Beldam began to control Wybie’s parents so they would hate him. This is why he was named Wyborn. The Beldam’s victims are always children that aren’t happy with their home life so that was her way of luring him into the other world. Once he was his parents disappeared just like Coraline’s but they never returned because he wasn’t clever enough to get them out. During this time his grandma was probably extremely worried and pulled him out of the world as fast as she could and locked it. For extra measure she put the seal over it. Of coarse Wybie would be traumatized but his grandma trained him not to say anything about so she still be able to sell the pink palace to only adults.

You should theorize about how coraline remembers the baldam and if/how the wybies gramdma knows or remembers the beldam enough to keep wybie away from her

I got one question about Coraline and that is who was the first ghost children to be killed and who was the last and we know why bees Grandma's sister was the first to be killed by the Bell Dan but then in the beginning of the movie we see her doll being transformed into Coraline
circus baby FAN! The child victims are semi based on the ones in the book. But you can tell which kid was taken first by which time period they came from. It’s also a clue about how old the other mother really is. The first one taken was a girl from Colonal Times. The second is a boy from a Victorian era because he used to wear dresses as a baby. They do overlap but I think the girl was first because her family might have built the house. And lastly the twin sister who would been taken in 1920’s.
From hers to materials when she was like “yes a clue” and holded up her rotton finger but when she was making the coralline doll she had materials

I’m currently making a fanfiction on wattpad about what I would want in a Coraline 2 sequel. I’ve decided to make Wybie & Coraline 17 year olds and Coraline’s dad has passed away so her and Wybie have a conversation in the graveyard and there he tells her that his parents passed when he was young, hence why he lives with his grandmother.

maybe the parents were racist, or the extended family was racist. I would like to think Wybie Lovat is halfcast, like myself, considering he has a black grandmother and is white, either the mother or father were black, and the family of the white parent wasnt having it, or maybe the white parent wasnt wanting a product of racism, so left Wybie with his black grandmother. Maybe one of the parents ran off, and what if Wybie was born into a BF/GF relationship, one of the parent run off leaving the parent with Wybie.
Maybe with a mixture of single parent status, and the racism idea above conbined may be a cause for Wybie to be abandoned to his grandmother
Now this is just an idea, and I know the idea of multicultural racism is a sensitive topic so I do apologies for any offense caused.

What happened to Wybie with the button eyes, When he helped Coraline out the mirror, and then Beldam heard her, and then Coraline and Wybie ran and pushed the big closet bug out of the way and then went through the little door, but the Coraline stopped and asked Wybie with the button eyes if he was coming, but he took out his hand and he blowed on it and it turned into sand and he signaled Coraline to go and she did and made it at her real home and finally locked the door, but what happened to Wybie? Did Beldam catch him?

What if the other mother created wybie so she could love him with out killing him. Then somehow the grandma is related to the other mother and took him because she knew he would not be safe. The grandma raised him on her own. The other mother can't get him back because the grandma is a witch too and but a spell on him to keep him safe.

I think Wybie's parents abandoned him or lost custody of wybie. Why is a weird child, as seen in the film. He takes in stray cats, he picks up slugs, he rides a weird bike, and etc. So....what if Wybie's parents wanted a normal child? This might explain why Wybie's grandma seems to protect him a ton. Notice how Wybie's posture is. He looks like the hunchback of Notre Dame, possibly meaning, he was being abused by his mom and dad because he was a weird child. They lose custody of him and he stays with his grandma. During this, grandma's sister (we'll call her Essie) is alive and well. But, when wybie is with grandma, Essie goes missing and grandma goes full lockdown. Wybie was abused, brought in by grandma, and possibly suffers from the trama.

Wyborn in Norse Mythology actually means War Bear, which is the exact opposite of him, bcuz Wybie is shy and a bit of a geek, whether war bears are actually rather loud and brave

Unless Wybie has been to the other world and how coroline parent were taken and Wybie parents were taken but Wybie could have been so young that he either doesn't remember or he was traumatized and doesn't talk about it
when caroline was stuck in the room without a doornob that only the beldam could get in and out of there where three ghost children: the grandmas sister a boy and a girl. we dont know who the boy and girl are but from the story: the beldam wanted wybie to smile so she stiched his mouth shut into a smile. this could have been the beldams way of showing sympathy and wanting him happy. If his parents hated him the beldam would have been mad at them and hurt or killed them. the reason why they're children is because the parents where probably childish to be so cruel. therefore wybies parents must be the two other children in the room.

At the start the where the dolls are made the one that was turned into coralline looked exactly like wybies grandmother - the photo of her and her MISSING TWIN sister - the doll that coralline received which watches her. Wybies grandma doesn’t want him near the pink house because her sister was taken by the Other Mother- more evidence; when coralline was thrown into the mirror there was three kids of which were eaten or something- one of them looked like wybies grandma therefor her sister

so another theory from me: When Coraline moved to the pink palace and met Wybie in the Holidays! Maybe Wybie was just visit his grandma in his holidays!
I thought Wybie didn’t need to be in the movie, it would have been a lot scarier and more intense. The book version would have been better in film form
My idea is Maybe they had Wybie as in quotes kids like 16 or something and their was really mad about that so they wanted to get away and then other mom are their soul
