We have the base model 2009. Runs like new ,same fuel economy as new. 240,000 km on the clock. Only criticism is the lack of undercoat on the paint job. Chips will rust quickly. Only cost since purchase apart from regular maintenance/brake pads is replacement of sway bar rubber mounts. Quick fix. We like it so much we are getting the 2017 boosterjet turbo swift and keeping the old swift. The older engine lacks a bit of grunt uphill and with three plus people you will be climbing in third on a fairly steep gradient. hoping the new turbo will give us the bit extra grunt. Test drove the new one. Plenty of pep, nice layout, cost wise very good value for money. Looking forward to picking it up soon. All in all our old swift is a great car. Cheap to run, utterly reliable and fun to drive through the twisties. Its comfy on long trips or short, commutes like a champ and it does everything you need a car to do without being a heavy boring lump to drive. So thats why we want another one. PS. Love the new body style. I think they really nailed it.
Thank you. Your comments were most reassuring since my 1.0 boosterjet is the first suzuki I've ever owned. I especially love its engine and visibility provided by its upright widscreen. Did you use synthetic oil in your 2009 swift?
What a good review and very accurate. Thanks for this. I have driven the Swift in manual and automatic form at length and pretty much agree with most of your comments. It's a great car. I found the automatic to be both lively and smooth to drive and is my preferred option. A nice sturdy car with lots of features...
iconic car i like alot 1.1 boosterjet 111hp 170 torque less than 900kg a lot of equipment this car is great and maybe a joy to ride. about plastics all the cars in this segment and some of the above segment have interiors in hard plastics andacosts more money. like my Honda jazz (fit) costs more than suzuki. good review
Thanks for yet another comprehensive review👍. I for one can overlook the cheap plastics, as long as they are reliable, practical and value for money. A fine addition to their existing range I think.
John McNeely many thanks and agreed. If it's built to a budget and priced that way then ding dong. However, the Swift is so much more with excellent handling and lots of kit.
The European models are not made in Japan. That is wrong info. Theyre made in a Hungarian plant by Suzuki. The Asian models are mostly manufactured in India
lol 2016 article, we are in 2017, the article didn't even say anything which model they assembled and which country they exporting to, I trust my local distributors than some indian website lol
Feudal Serfer kind of you to say, thanks. They are brilliantly priced though and offer a lot for the money. Soft plastics aren't something that's included but a lot of tech is.
1 litre turbo is anything but noisy. Its one of the most refined small engines around. Its 6 speed auto is also robust since its made by aisin/ toyota. Despite the cheap plastics t he cars are well engineered. Suzuki has been rated no 1 for reliability by what car ? Reliability Survey in 2018 as well as Canstar blue surveys done in Australia and NZ.
Thanks for the review drivers seat. Arguably one of the best hatchbacks by a Japanese comp. Suzuki shouldn't comprise on build quality though. By the way how it rivals with German engineering though?? Love n greetings from India.
karthickkb. raja thanks for the message. Rather than the German rivals which are much more expensive, Suzuki's biggest threat comes from Hyundai and Kia with the I20 and Rio, both of which offer really well made and executed superminis. Suzuki are unique though in offering hybrid and 4x4 on a supermini.
Hi there. Every little counts. You're absolutely right, it is 120KG lighter rather than 120g. In the heat of filming these things can unfortunately happen but it should have been picked up in editing. Thanks for pointing it out.
I still have the model of 2005. They changed a lot the design of the car for me it's worst and Suzuki this time kills completely the first design of the car that made Suzuki sells the model Swift. They opted to not continue the lines of the design of 2010. I don't like this new Swift. it's just only my opinion.
Thanks for yet another comprehensive review👍.But i for one i feel like most of these car are getting more worse with their exterior designs,to me these Suzuki seems like it look like a Datsun Go = Ugly exterior, and it seems way too unsafe than its predessor. The same goes to the 2017 Opel Astra, its interior & exterior look bad according to me.Thank you for the review once more.
The new Swift looks much nicer in the metal. The previous swift had an unattractive rear end with cheap looking tail lamps. Ofcourse , taste differs , but most people like this car's styling. But you are free to call the new yaris/ vitz butt ugly.🙈
Rakesh Arcot not sure what you mean. The last two generations of the Swift have been sharply designed with many straight edges. Just look at the headlights. This new car is much more rounded with many more soft curves.

Thanks so much for the detailed customer review ... as someone looking to buy their first Swift, I certainly found it helpful!

@@sunilayya8948 Why would anyone go out of thier way seek out non sythetic motor oil?

The 1-litre turbo is a little pocket rocket!

120 grams lighter than before? whoat? thats like a bar of snickers
120 kg !
Thx I tought why he mention 120g too 😂
Really nice review. Pity you didn't choose the much more interesting 1 litre turbo for the review. That cheeky engine is the swift's best feature .😃

John McNeely Same here, definitely a contender for my next car, another excellent review too.
I'm Your Huckleberry many thanks.
I have the new turbo, not sport and it's great , those of you who bag it don't know shit, drive it and you'll love it.
The European models are not made in Japan. That is wrong info. Theyre made in a Hungarian plant by Suzuki. The Asian models are mostly manufactured in India
Mark G the new generation car is made at the Sagara plant in Japan. The old version was made in Hungry. According to Suzuki UK at least.
Mark G no, Asian mostly assembled in Japan

Great Video Review. I like the New Suzuki Swift particularly In Red but I don't cheap hard plastics
Jamie Pickles always great to get your thoughts. Thanks for the kind comments.
Great review. I like Suzuki's engineering, but they seem a bit tinny and noisy.

Are those alloys available in India?
What is a maroot? 0:50
Great review. Good to read other comments as well. I am considering Suzuki swift or ignis or VW GtI. What do you all think?
do they just do the 4wd in uk?
Thanks for the review drivers seat. Arguably one of the best hatchbacks by a Japanese comp. Suzuki shouldn't comprise on build quality though. By the way how it rivals with German engineering though??

my favourite car and nice review brother
All Swifts in Thailand are assembled in Indonesia.
Nice uniform...are you a Captain or a Major?
a General
Swift vs i20 which ☝️ is better and why?
Huli 1234
swift 2017 or baleno?
foru only foru only all depends what is key for you. Swift is better and more fun to drive. Baleno is roomier and practical.
Should I trade in my 2016 Mazda 2 Maxx for this very cute baby?
MrKeith74lee sure
It's 120 g lighter than before? Only that little?
Terrible jokes aside, just pointing out a mistake.

Dharam Choudhary hi there. Prices of the range and the specific spec tested are detailed from 0:43 seconds into the film.👍
We're a bit spoiled here, (one of the few advantages of living at the bottom end of the world; we get MIJ Swifts.
Sorry... AustralIa
what is ground clearance

Ricardo Oliveira those straight edged designer lines did a lot to make the Swift popular. This is quite a departure.
it still looks cool though, but the swift really has been about its pricing and the smile it puts on your face when you whip its ass.
I agree, the older swift rear is much more appealing
Bharat me launch kab hogi

Good.car
Having recently been looking at Suzukis.. one thing, my wife and I both said/noted - poor/cheap plastics and fit.
Clive Sinclair you can see that money has been saved on internal plastics. But for the price, equipment levels and way it drives, it can be appealing.
Poor car, at 0:50 you almost ripped the door and took the hinges off ! Incompetent reviewer !
Blind man curves have been replaced by sharper design not the other way around
Rakesh Arcot not sure what you mean. The last two generations of the Swift have been sharply designed with many straight edges. Just look at the headlights. This new car is much more rounded with many more soft curves.
