What a bunch of bs, did VW pay him for trashing the Swift??? The Swift is smaller and cheaper (lied about high prices) than the other models he mentioned, for people who want more space there is the baleno. The Swift has a much better real world fuel economy because it weighs only 900 kg and because of the low weight it's as fast with the cheap, clean 1.2 engine as competitors with more expensive engines.

Exactly it's a super mini mainly targeted at younger or older people with 1 or 2 passengers max. If you need to use 5 seats then you won't be buying a super mini!

It's a known fact that people in the UK where I'm from love sucking German manufacturer's cocks, hence the constant reference to the VW Polo. Yes VW are solid but bland as fuck to be honest.

plus suzuki have no infinite extra options to pay like german cars, 3 version with a lot of default accessories.
prices without any accessories looks different "only" by 2k BUT if you full charge with optionals the polo become a lot more expensive

Well, I could understand this as a primitive means of measuring the volume of storage space, but seriously, no one needs that much space in the spaces that should hold a 500ml bottle. Just the idea of the driver drinking the last 200ml from a 1.5l bottle cracks me up :D safe driving everyone haha
Perhaps instead of trying to squeeze a 1.5l bottle into the designated bottle holders and moaning about how it does't fit, try to fit a 500ml into each of them and that'll suffice. Well, unless you're planning a ride through Africa :D

The issue is, when these review cars get sent back to the manufacturer they end up getting registered under the name of of someone in head office (usually female) just so there is an owner on the paperwork. From there they get sent to a dealership and their previous history as a review car doesn't get mentioned, they just sell it as a used car with one previous owner (the careful lady driver from head office). You then start to get a load of serious problems developing early because the car has been thrashed around a track when it was brand new. How do i know this? because after some research it turns out thats exactly what happened with my 14 plate Suzuki Swift Sport! had it just over one year and recently got landed with a £1500 quid repair bill for one big clusterfuck of clutch problems.

This is thing really appeals to me as a drivers car, it weighs 900kg, has the front end from a jag f type, and the fact it’s available in 4x4 means there’s room for a driveshaft. So making a rear wheel drive conversion is on the cards. Hope to see a Swift Sport soon, converting one of those to RWD and tuning the motor to circa 200bhp would make this thing a serious weapon.

Thanks James for another great review. The Swift is overall a great car and I've driven one at length. In the main I agree with most of your comments. But I do actually like the automatic version, it was lively and economical. The quality of the car is fine and it rides nicely in most circumstances, being able to be thrown around on bumpy country roads just like my other cars. I have a garage full of VAG cars including the Skoda Fabia Mk3 110ps 1.2 with 7spd auto box. It's a great car, but frankly the Suzuki is more fun and less boring. The Suzuki does actually compete extremely well with the Fabia in every way and is in many ways equal and even ahead of the Skoda in some areas of equipment and drivability. I notice you have to put up with the usual silly uninformed comments on here, but don't let that put you off!

I think the opening statement about it looking like the previous version was misplaced, in that it would apply much more readily to a great many other cars, especially VAG products (e.g. Polo and Golf). No doubt the similarity is there, but the opening statement placed an immediate downer on one of the lesser offenders in that respect, for the styling cues lend the new Swift a longer, more squat appearance that is an easily discernible departure from its predecessor.

Looks good. much prefer the front end styling of this new model to the girly smiley front of the old car but can't help thinking the rear of the old car was sharper. With the price hike though it doesn't seem like the good value product it once was.

A much more fun alternative to the common and expensive polo. Swift has been around for a while with a few generations now, it's not as bad as this review makes it out as.

@jamesbatchelor are you drunk?? the swift is nothing like the old 2013-2016 model 25% bigger boot 19% more powerful and thats just the star!. Regarding the drive the 1L boosterjet engine pulls very well from 1500rpm and will very happily sit on the motorway at 70mph your review on the new 2017 swift is shocking please in future give a correct review and please cut those eye brows!!!

In Finland here is only the 4WD on sale. I think the car look quite nice...apart from the xtra height that comes with the 4WD, doesn't make it better looking at all.

This is the III model .Reminds me of a Daihatsu Sirion ,very Japaneselike shape ! The I one had a wonderful ,sporty shape and very sharp handling .Unfortunately it also had big problems with the gearbox (petrol engine ) . The Splash shared the same wonderful chassis and with a Fiat Panda double synchro gearbox it was a hell of a city car . Only drawback ,the rather firm ride . Nevertheless ,I am sure the new Swift will offer a lot for the money !
