Javier was someone I didn't expect to turn. He always seemed loyal

Yeah the way they wrote him for RDR2 didn’t make much sense considering how he was in RDR1. Somehow went from a charming, young revolutionary that loved the gang and hated authority to being little more than a common killer in the pocket of a dictator.

@@Silentguy_ unfortunately Javier was an asshole in the game. Near them end of the game. He would often criticize John and Arthur labelling them as traitors.
He was blindly loyal. And when he found out where his blind loyalty led him. It cemented the path he went down.
@@Cam-nq8br yeah but it just felt off with Javier. I felt like Bill was done very well in RDR2. He was very loyal and even enjoyable to be around at times, but at his core he was still a bit of a drunken hillbilly that was insecure about his intellect when compared to others and was always just a little bit too willing to escalate to violence. His backstory of being a dishonorably discharged member of the Army was just icing on the cake.
IMO Javier’s personality flip was just a bit too drastic to appear realistic.
Now granted I will concede that I am comparing the many hours of screen time and mission dialogue from RDR2 with the very very brief moments we got in RDR1 so maybe I’m just being pedantic

It make sense that javier gets picked on because he is supposed to be physically weaker. Bill and Micah underestimate him. Trying to pick a fight with Charles is stupid though. He is apparently the strongest in the gang.

I love how no one actually wants to fight arthur. They might give him a little threat but the moment they see he's eager to oblige they back off real quick like. That said as much as I like antagonizing, I wish this game had a third option more akin to army of two's more physical version. After watching bill be a terror in the camp, how satisfying would it be to walk up to him while he's sitting down with a drink, minding his own business, and slap him really hard in the back of his empty skull. Maybe kick the chair out from under him. Or to punch the shit out of micah as soon as he starts trying to mouth off to someone.
I mean, we mustn't underestimate Arthur's physical strength. I remember being in awe as he, in chapter 6 and actively dying of TB, just lifted up an entire woman onto his horse with one arm (after saving her from the Murphree Brood). That thing is hard enough for most men at peak health and he lifted her up as if it were nothing (let alone just slinging entire deer over his shoulder)

A great detail is that in the end cutscene when Dutch, Micah, Cleet, and Joe are poiting guns at you, Bill stutteres a little but points his rifle to you, but your body, unlike everyone else who aimed for your head. Javier hesitated a lot, and his pistol is only ocked on right at the end of the cutscene.

@@nahte-, while I want to agree with you, the game has been out for nearly 3 years now. There were some things that got spoiled for me, but Kieran’s death wasn’t and when it went down, I had to put my controller down for what felt like an eternity before I got back to playing.
