Of all the facts about Mauritius, these are the ones you chose? That Nissan is the top seller? Damn. I'm disappointed. Here are some examples of what you missed:
- Port-Louis and Curepipe were switched on to electricity long before London.
- The battle of Grand-Port was the only French naval victory over the British during the Napoleonic wars and is the only naval battle commemorated on the Arc de Triomphe.
- The existence of hormones in the human body was first postulated by the Mauritian Charles Edouard Brown Sequard who even has a neurological condition named after him.
- Although small in size, Mauritius has an exclusive economic zone larger than those of countries like China, Italy, Spain and Germany. It would be even larger if not for the treacherous misappropriation of the Chagos Archipelago by the British.

Ile de France (now Mauritius) was a FRENCH colony at that time, so, obviously the REPUBLIC OF FRANCE is responsible, not Mauritius.

Just arrived in Mauritius today, and i have to say it is a very beautiful island, however when searching for hotels prior to booking we found the hotel called 'The One And Only' to be the most expensive when comparing similar rooms, and thanks to my wife this is where we are staying, its a tropical heaven though and no regrets!

liizzset actually yes the tourists are nice. From my own experience, even though they don’t know you they do smile at you when you are passing by. Yes you will have a great time here and there are so much places to visit. Being a multi cultured country, you will experience different festivals throughout the year. Well to be honest the beaches are real pretty along with the sun. Mauritius has also a beautiful history and guess what there’s a museum where weapons , barracks which were built during the war, canons and other stuffs are kept. It’s actually easy to get a place in a hotel since there are now so many hotels here.

liizzset mauritius is effectively a tourist friendly island.I am 100% sure that you will enjoy your time in our beautiful beaches and mountains.The best thing i think to be the best is the 'cazela'its an amazing place to visit. (The best beach is at 'le morne brabant')

Happy holiday in my motherland.
I love that the 5 am club takes place here makes me wanna go there even more now. To be honest when I read that book it was the first had ever even heard of the place and I embarrassingly admit I thought it might just be a fictional place me up for the book. In the books it's described as such a paradise you almost don't believe its real. But I'm very happy it is! Thats so awesome , I wonder if foreigners can buy property there.🤔

@@saladhub2928 Well Seychelles have 3 main islands (Praslin, Mahe, La Digue) - all stunning. Mahe is the biggest and offers many amazing beaches, smallest capital city of Victoria, beautiful botanical garden and amazing viewpoints. Praslin offers many beautiful beaches and national park with waterfall. La Digue can only be done by foot or cycle through the island and has the world renowned beach Anse Source d'Argent there.
Now Mauritiius has different cultures and religions there compared to Seychelles IMO (mainly Hindu but a good Christian and Muslim community too) The country has lots of beaches, quite a few different national parks, waterfalls, huge botanical garden, the capital Port Louis, beautiful small islands off the main island for day trippers. walking with lions in Casela National Park, The Grand Bassin close to the large statue, mountains...and it is less expensive than Seychelles

[1] Yes, Mauritius is a tourist-friendly country taking into account the number of tourists that come here every year. But be careful, there might be scammers overcharging you for items. About pickpocketing & thieves, there's a chance that tourists could be a target but I cannot say that 100%.
[2] About enjoying time, yes. You would definitely. There's a lot of things to discover. The nature, the cuisines, cultures etc.
[3] You can rent a house, yes. Definitely cheaper than hotel. Also I think there might be AirBnB that you can use.
[4] We have parts where it's 100% island life and parts where it is sort of city life.
liizzset Mauritius is a paradise Island many interesting wonderful places for nature and beach lovers nice place to relax its a tropical islands surrounded with more smalls island like ile aux cerf and Rodrigues and mountains such as le pouce the moka Range and cascades such as Rochester falls, grand bassin a Hindu religious peaceful place the Ganga talao a big status symboling Shiva a hindu god. And each village u gonna find Temples,Pagoda,church, and about food it has a variety of interesting menu fresh vegetables, fresh meat, honey, fruits,fish localy u can have a car easily or even travel anywhere arround the island even u can have catamaran and boats for its beautiful surrounded i small islands there are severals activities as the horse racing, the big game fishing, swimming with dolphins, walk with the lions at casela , touch crocodile at la Vanille crocodile park, etc... Feels free for any more things you wanna know ;)
