I wonder why Sam and Brian went back to Nashville instead of Knoxville. When you look at the map, Knoxville is A LOT closer than Nashville, and I believe waiting time and costs for smaller airports are better than bigger airports. Wouldn't have going to Knoxville saved them a lot more time?
I love the fact that there's not a single way to verify all those birds were different birds.

Well, lets hope that they were being honest. Even if not, they needed to catch up anyways, else this season wouldnt be as exciting. And even if they win this season because of that, its all good because they lost the last one

As someone who lives minutes away from Indiana Dunes National Park, it was incredibly cool to see my hometown area in this video. A "fun" fact about Mount Baldy is back in 2013, it actually ate a child. I'm not joking, you can look it up. Thankfully after hours of digging, they managed to rescue the kid alive. Also the ugly power plant is being torn down within the next decade.

As much as I enjoyed season 3, I’m glad that this game’s mechanics actively encourage the players to get out of where they are to very different locations, and I look forward to seeing all different places of the USA.
I would love to see another three way tag. But maybe allow the chasers to move sooner but without tracking to encourage less predictable travel, to go to more places
@@KNR90 yeah, it was so much fun, but I couldn’t help but think how much more interesting it would’ve even if they also went to Italy, Switzerland, the UK and the Netherlands. Especially the UK where the rail network is very different to mainland Europe being much more local but frequent.
Meanwhile, other's don't fly to the US/EU to not damage the climate so harshly...
@@KNR90it would be interesting if the tracking wasnt constant, but rather a single point every 15 minutes or something. That way its harder to predict, but not impossible to find.

I'm totally ready to be wrong, but it really doesn't seem like the area bonus is enough of a lift to matter in the end. It's only plus two, and while ben and adam are crossing borders to get multiple states, sam and brian are taking long flights to secure the two point bonus that has them still behind by two.
Very fun concept and looking forward to the next episode!
It's plus two to your team, and minus two to the other, when you switch. So a four point swing.
@@radagastwiz The bonus isnt applied until the end of the game though. Ben and Adam are still winning by two. Considering Ben and Adam keep grinding states in the north they could still outpace Same and Brian.
this was my thoughts too!! to me it seems like they need to get a few more states checked off before they should be taking cross country flights for the area bonus! really interesting to see how they both went for different strategies! its been a great series so far!
@@radagastwiz sure, but even when factoring that in they are spending a lot of time to ensure a bonus that isn’t enough to get them into the lead as it stands. It could certainly make a difference in the end and there’s plenty more game to go, but it seems early to be focusing on long trips to grab big states when there are so many unclaimed states with close neighbors.

I love how they made rules to prevent the show from just being rental cars, yet this still ended up becoming a rental car episode.
Rental cars are okay as long as they go to a levee.
Ben saying: "Can we get them to commit arson at a very small level?" made me laugh so hard 🤣

This series is crazy. I was baffled when they suddenly made a whole shebang out of Lille, France and the area around it (Lille is my grandparents town) where I spent a good portion of my holidays in. It was unreal seeing that area be an essential part of the series. Also on my first US trip with my mom when we went to visit my uncle in Indiana we were just as confused at the chicago airport, we took the same hilton hotel at the airport as them in s1 and we took the same trolley metro thingy. We also visited Indiana dunes with my uncle and it was amazing. Seeing you being so excited about Indiana Dunes and the rest of the places in this series that have been an essential part of my life honestly brought a tear to my eye.

I swear that the best play for Sam and Brian is to go to Arizona, complete the Grand Canyon challenge, then use the two power ups to redraw their hand and cross the border to Nevada/California via rental car
That would be perfect, solely because the Grand Canyon is probably one of the hardest challenges to pull off.
If they can fulfill the card by being in the air over the Grand Canyon, sure. Otherwise, it would be really hard to get to the Grand Canyon, and would probably take too much time.
I feel like the best strategy for the "seduce & debauch" crime is to go to Starbucks, find an unmarried woman in line to get a drink (not difficult), and tell her to lie to the barista about her name. Surely you'll find at least one unmarried woman who has never conveyed a fraudulent identity before
And because it's Starbucks, she'll then get the wrong name spelled wrong as well

I really appreciate the reference to American Pie, but the part of the levee being dry is tied together with the line "them good old boys were drinking Whiskey and rye", which they did at the levee, but there was none left for the singer, hence it was dry. The lyrics of that song is a masterpiece

The "Crestwood,IL Midway Airport Weather Radar" to be exact. It threw me that they had them entering Indiana before this, then being "almost there" to the Dunes shortly after, making me think they were near GYY. They are crossing the Calumet on I-294.

This has been really fun to watch, I think another cool version of this I'd really like to see would be with unlimited time, and the game doesn't end until all 50 states are claimed. Could make for some interesting mechanics and sightseeing

i am VERY confused at Sam and Brian's logic here though, if you just claim MORE states, the extra 2 points dont matter...
They’re so far behind that they basically have no chance of beating Ben and Adam conventionaly
I'm guessing the area bonus is just an extra leg up as part of the catching up process - since it effectively takes two off Adam and adds two on to their own total - thereby closing the gap by the equivalent of 5 states with just one Texas (+1 Texas, +2 Area Bonus and -2 Area Bonus from Adam's total). This makes catching up much, much easier as they're only two behind as opposed to 7 behind as they were before. Given the limited time left it makes it possible to do, as claiming 7 states more than Adam in less than two days would be basically impossible
assuming they can claim the area bonus, they’ll only need half as many states to catch up. they’re presumably going to go back east and try to take some states off ben and adam through battles, but that means they only need one flip to tie
@@cdw2468 and also, if they can force ben and Adam to go to Alaska that leaves the entire country open for battles since there is nothing in Alaska to help win them
I think the big thing is that both teams decided the other team was likely to go after Vermont so neither team wanted to get burned with lost time. If I was Sam and Brian though, once I saw Ben & Adam in Illinois, I'd backtrack to go get Vermont and then start attacking New York and just hope to go on a run of capturing states away from Ben & Adam.

I've been to the Dunes national park multiple times as a child camping with family. It's awesome! There are hundreds of sand dunes you can run around on and things like tire swings that let you launch yourself off the top of a dune and fall 20 feet down before landing and rolling in soft sand. It's awesome!
Hey look, finally something I can write a comment about! at 24:34, that is actually not a nuclear plant, it just looks like one. That is actually a coal plant, and the cooling tower causes a lot of people to think it is a nuclear plant. They are actually closing because of the misconception. I live near Chicago and go here to the dunes near calumet city every year, and I can always see this!

Fun fact, American Pie isn't about a levee, it's about a bar in New York State called The Levy. It was "dry" as in, they were out of alcohol. The bar still exists but got renamed.
So happy Ben & Adam claimed my home state of Illinois! I too have taken a flight from Boston to Chicago and I concur it was very sad lol.
I live right next to the Indiana dunes national Park. it was cool to see them go there :) Also you didn’t have to use the power because there is actually a train that connects Chicago to the Indiana dunes national Park teacher right next to it it’s called the South Shore

I think that from a game design point +2 for biggest area isn't enough to be worth for anyone. It's the equivalent of stealing a single state

Yeah. Like maybe it does end up being important, but I don't see it happening. The bigger the state is, the more time you're likely spending traveling (especially true if you go for Alaska.)
In that travel time you could easily get one or two smaller states. Which then opens up more borders for you + opportunities to battle.

I used to go to the mt. Baldy beach a lot as a kid so watching this video gave me a lot of nostalgia from my childhood. as soon as they pulled up to the parking lot I was like "Hey I've been there before". Hell i even remembered the trail and i haven't been there in over a decade.

The “ball” on the tower is a cover for a dish/antenna. It helps protect it from the weather, especially snow.

The power plant at 24:30 is actually a coal/natural gas fired power plant. the cooling tower is not necessarily an indicator that nuclear power is in use. In many cases its either required for re-circulation of generator water, or to reduce the water temperature to ambient prior to releasing it back into the source body for environmental regulatory compliance.

@21:15 That ball protects a dish of some kind, could be satellite communications or weather radar or something like that but it's a dish which needs to be oriented to point at it's target and the dome allows it to move about while also protecting it from the wind and weather.
