I’ve been overweight pretty much my whole life. For the past 15 years I did shift work. Never had any energy and didn’t sleep much. A year ago I started working day shifts and it hit me hard. I could barely stay awake. Found out I was having 66 episodes on average per hour. The first morning after using my cpap I felt alive. Heart rate and blood pressure have both gone down. Been focusing on eating better and being more active. I’ve lost over 100 lbs in the past six months.
Hi mate, welcome to the channel and thanks for sharing your experience. It's great to hear you're doing much better and i wish you health and happiness in the future. Take Care. Nick
Damn man a 100 POUNDS IN 6 MONTHS?! That is damn impressive please tell me what you did to lose that much weight. I might be getting a cpap machine for my sleep apnea hopefully I’ll lose the amount of weight you lost too

I know not only overweight people have sleep apnea, but thank you for speaking to us about this issue like we’re normal people. My doctor told me to lose weight before I got the cpap machine. I told him I don’t sleep, I have no energy because I don’t sleep. I feel more hungry when I don’t sleep. It was very discouraging. I’ve have my machine for two months now and I’ve lost 15 lbs already!
I wish you would write a letter to your State medical licensing board about your doctor's very bad directions. Withholding necessary medical treatment because of patient is overweight is highly unethical.
@@Madronaxyz I agree. Altho where surgery is needed for knee replacement or by-pass gastric lap bands, it is important to lose weight or those surgeries may be ineffective.
@@Madronaxyz Unethical? It's medical malpractice. He should be sued and have his license revoked for that reason. That fool is going to get people killed.
@@sharoncarpenter2084 Yes, there are few situations like that. But generally speaking, you treat the medical conditions caused by obesity first and then try to work with the patient to lose weight. There is a short-term and long-term strategy to give them the best possible health care. But if you don't deal with these other issues, they may not live long enough to lose the weight. And even if they fail to lose the weight, you will likely extend their lives.
When I got tested, I stopped breathing 98 times in an hour.... scary shit. They hooked me up to the machine a couple of weeks later, while being monitored. The attendee walked in and woke me up. I asked what was wrong. He said nothing. I had slept through the whole night !!! He said that was probably the first night in 20 years that I had rem sleep. I’ve been using it everyday since. Saved my life.

Mine's was discovered while in the ER that I had stop breathing over a 100 times, I just thought my sleeping was interpreted because I had to use the bathroom. One time I was so sleepy had been out running earns was to sleepy to dive 3 miles home pulled in lowes parking lot this was summer whole up a hour so minutes later. Since be8on a Cap my sleep problem are so much better
I was stooping 96 times per hour. I gained weight even when dieting. Finally got my cpap and already feel world's better after just 3 days (I had sleep apnea at 180 pounds).
I tried for years to lose weight then I found out I had severe sleep apnea! Everything changed when I got treatment and the weight has dropped off. I’m 64 and they think I have had sleep apnea for 20 years! Feeling much better! Thanks for video

This has brought tears of joy. Out of all the videos and info out there I have found, you are the only one to explain this. Its not always obvious for people stuck in this loop.
Glad you it brought some joy to your life. It's certainly challenging but once you sort of understand why something is happening, it makes it a little clearer on what needs to be done to break the loop. Best wishes on your journey. Nick

Wait, on what basis did ResMed attack the channel?? I already think of the CPAP industry as more of a cash cow than a genuine effort to treat people successfully. (I'm very cynical. I probably just need butter sleep...) By attacking reviewers, aren't they just confirming that??
@@davidluke4373 I don't thank you are cynical; I think you are a realist. There's a good book that reviews the correlations between social behavior and income inequality. The book it is titled, the spirit level. The authors are Wilkinson and Pickett. Basically when there's a high level of income inequality in a society, everybody treats everyone else badly. The worse the income inequality the worse people treat each other. United States is the highest level of income inequality in the developed world. Income inequality of the United States is also the worst it has ever been in US history. Is it any Wonder people are so awful to each other?

Thank you for this!! I have struggled with my weight almost my entire life but I was just recently diagnosed with high blood pressure and also did a sleep study test. I just got my results back and in an average of 360 minutes, I was having 274 episodes of either apnea or hypopnea!! My oxygen says for 89% of the time it was below 88! I'm waiting now for a call from the APAP company to get started with one. I just found your video and it gives me a sense of relief that part of the reason I can't lose weight is because like you said, I'm so exhausted after getting home from work that I don't have the energy to do anything! I thought I was just being lazy! Thank you so much for this!
I treated my sleep apnea for 5 years with my cpap. I would lose weight and then gain the weight again over those 5 years. Until I finally nailed it and lost 70 pounds and I no longer need the cpap.

It’s because of the subject matter. Most people who watch TH-cam are 30 and under. Sleep apnea isn’t exactly a hot topic in the younger demographic and unless you have sleep apnea, you’re not going to watch sleep apnea videos.
I love to see this video, I’m only 20 and just got tested for sleep apnea. After getting results I found out I have severe sleep apnea with around 80 episodes per hour, I’ve also found myself in this horrible cycle over the last two years and have gained 40 pounds from it. I hoping to get treated and look forward to getting some proper rest and knock off a couple pounds, I’ll definitely be watching more of your videos in the future!
Love this dude, he's out there trying to help people with a big smile on his face. I just got my CPAP machine. I have a pretty dire situation. I sleep like 2 hours a night with virtually no deep sleep. I'm not tired during the day because I guess my apnea has triggered insomnia. I have 60 events an hour. I've had the machine for 2 days and I've had no success with it but I'm committed and I'll keep trying.
Sounds exactly like me. I was finally dragged kicking and screaming to a sleep test. No quality sleep for 15 or 20 years. 60 plus events. Just finished week one on Resmed Curve 10 auto w/ 1 liter oxygen. This AM, 7.5 hours sleep, AHI 0.77. Feeling much different already, for the good.
@@billb8744 awesome Bill. guess I should update. Took me a while but I figured out the resmed and now I'd never dare sleep without it. I've been having great sleep. I just had to figure out what works best for me. For me, not ramping up was the Key. I like the mask to go to 10 pressure immediately when I put it on. definitely a life saver and I'm having lots of dreams now.
@@kencunningham3710 Thanks Ken. I've not changed much yet. Now I'm asleep in minutes after a week of Resmed Curve 10 instead of hours or none......LOL. Using stock settings from the doc. Changed a couple but got busted on the stats (Oscar shows me they tattle if I fiddle the settings) so I decided not to fiddle with it until my first doc visit. I did find it a bit drying so I went to manual on the climate and set humidity at 6. Big mistake, turned into swamp/sauna air mode. I totally agree, the ''dude'' is a great guy who's built a great site, I am a big fan. Even after a week I am much more awake, much more energy, more alert and I am finding it easier by the day to get around get some exercise. Not much but it's building fast. Like you, I have no interest in sleeping without my Curve 10 (that is the bipap version of Airsense).
I can't thank you enough for your information and help. I reset the pressure on my unit and now i sleep like a baby! I get 8 hrs with no waking up and my AHI for 3mounths is 0.3. You are the greatest!
you help people improve their lives, thats a HUGE accomplishment, thanks. Used my CPAP machine for the first time last night. Went from 60 events down to 19 the first night.
Thanks for this video. I recently started to use a CPAP machine, and noticed right away that I was feeling better. I used to take a lot naps during the day because I was always tired, but not so much now. I have more energy, feeling more positive, eating more clean food and I have also started to work out.Hopefully this will continue.
I wish I could give you a big hug! I am a newbie to CPAP. Tonight is my first night! The technician did a fair job of showing me how to turn the dials and fill the water, but me not knowing all of the terms, she failed. When I started to go to bed I had no idea what the settings needed to be! So, I came to TH-cam and watched a video from the Luna company. She didn't do much better! Then I found you! I have watched both of your setup videos and I THANK YOU! Now I am looking forward to a great night's sleep. And this video hit me in the GUT! Literally! Common sense, but that's what it takes. Cheers!
Went from 70 episodes to 3.5 episodes per hour in my first week. I've already lost weight. My sugars are way way down and I'm not feeling hungry all the time. Lot's of body pain is gone too. Feet don't swell. Chest and ribs don't feel like they went 10 rounds. Post nasal drip cleared up. Even the fellow down below is working better. Amazing after snoring like a cow for 30 years.

Thanks for listing all those symptoms together. I've been on a Resmed S9 for ten years, with no adjustments too! Now in my late 60s, I'm having night and early morning symptoms that I attribute to old age and some medical diagnoses I carry, BUT your comments are adding to thoughts that perhaps it's time again, for some testing and review. I went from 50 episodes per hour to 1 episode per hour on my first day!!! I feel so much better and I feel like I got my first good nights sleep in god knows how long. I’m so excited to continue to use CPAP. I’m documenting my experience and I’m so glad I got tested.
Went to a doctor because of your video and am going to get a CPAP machine. I have two doctor parents and they didn't pick this up. Thanks for helping sir!
Hey guys, i also just want to add a little info from my own experience. My personal ideal weight is around 82kg. This is when i feel my best and sleep my best! During covid i added about 6kg (just due to being in lockdown for 4 months of the year and gyms closed and just drinking more etc). This 6kg weight gain had a HUGE impact on my sleep. Sarah (my old lady and better half) was continuously rolling me off my back and nudging me to stop me snoring and i just felt FLAT! I had no motivation, i was waking up tired and getting frustrated and sarah was frustrated and it was just a shit time. I don't have sleep apnea as i'v done plenty of tests on myself being a sleep scientist but that extra 6kg does impact my sleep in a big way, especially my snoring and energy levels. The point i'm trying to make is sometimes just a little bit of weight gain / weight loss can make a big difference! I've had to work really hard to loose just a couple of kg but i can already feel i'm sleeping better and Sarah says that i'm no longer snoring which is great because we have the little baby who is enough of a disturbance as it is without me adding to the drama. Anyway, just want to let you know that you're certainly not alone and millions of people are experiencing the same frustrations so make sure you get your sleep sorted and then you can get motivated to get healthy. Studies have shown that Weight loss of just 10-15% can reduce the severity of sleep apnea by 50%!!!! If you think you or someone you know might have sleep apnea then here's a really quick and easy apnea screen you can do at home - th-cam.com/video/N8FMw3CeDN0/w-d-xo.html

Thanks for all your videos mate, I'm just about to start CPAP therapy and hoping it will help me have ANY energy during the days. I have other health conditions that are currently incurable with today's medical science, but having some energy to talk with my daughter would be enough to make all this worth it. Thank you again for your encouragement and your nice energy.
This video is like a life line to have someone that understands and explains it so well.Ive recently been diagnosed with osa and I've exhausted for years and gradually put weight on that's affected my confidence and in my head I thought I could get get to the gym but my body is telling me no I can't because I'm struggling to do anything at the moment but thankyou for this video and now my family can see I'm not lazy as I'm told I'm just physically and mentally run down.
That’s great to hearing. I just had a sleep study and found out I have moderate sleep apnea. I’m really obese, I really hope the CPAP will help with better sleep and energy so I can lose the weight.
Oh my god this saved my life dude! I was getting crazy weight gain and tried to workout for so long everyday running a mile a day and lifting weights and very little change in months of consistent working out!

I used to run a 5k almost daily. Never lost weight. Definitely should have been diagnosed with sleep apnea years ago. Still haven't lost the weight, but I am now more hopeful.
Thank you for sharing that information. I feel a lot better because I had just recently got diagnosed with sleep apnea. I had some people tell me “it’s because you’ve gained weight you gotta lose that weight before your sleep apnea is addressed”. I’m so relieved that that’s not the case and that the sleep apnea has to be addressed in order for my health to improve.
Tired of people seeing weight loss as a cure to sleep apnea. So many people are a normal weight who have sleep apnea. Thanks for the video and making this important distinction.

@@nickgoogle4525 but its easy to say that people need to just "lose weight". Unfortunately it's not that simple. Sleep apnea can be a vicious cycle where the sleep apnea itself may cause further weight gain due to slowed metabolism. Some people are just lucky to not have the airway anomalies that predispose to OSA
@@nickgoogle4525 its not even as simple as saying "in the vast majority of cases". People who are overweight or obese and have sleep apnea usually have a predisposition to anatomical risk factors for sleep apnea already, extra fat or not. You can see how it's a vicious cycle: person gains maybe a bit of weight one time, sleep apnea is triggered and slows their metabolism even more, causing even more weight gain. It's ultimately a case of the chicken and the egg. We don't know which comes first. I suspect its more complicated than people think. I think its possible in some cases that the OSA _causes_ obesity, then because they gain the weight, this is compounded even more and their apnea gets worse
In my case my weight issue is because of my thyroid going bad. It runs in my family so I had to get on Synthroid and have my dosage increased because I was gaining so much weight and not eating. I had no desire to eat. Then I was using my CPAP every night just about.
It still blows my mind how things like energy levels and sex drive come back once after a short while of continue use of cpap… I’m shocked how great I feel since using this
Omg this great to hear. I’m waiting on my cpap machine. I been dealing with CFS for 6 years and had hysterectomy 4 years ago it’s been a hard . No Energy and I can’t lose weight.
Hi there, Thumbs up to you! You are the first person i come across that talk bloody sense. Thanks, cause i really battle, no energfy to do sweet all, and the more i try to get my weight under control the more i loose this bloody battle. Will go and see a decent therapist.
Thank you for your videos. On my 3rd week of CPAP . Headaches are completely gone which is awesome. However still dealing with lightheadedness and heavy limbs .
This is exactly what I wanted to hear. I really appreciate it. It was short and simple video. Very comforting to be honest.. I have sleep apnea. I just picked up my machine. I'm not a heavy person but I do think I have a good amount of neck fat. I'm hoping that I can get the sleep apnea kind of put in check with the machine as well as really focus on my diet and exercise. Enough where I can stop using the machine. My biggest problem is I have no energy. I'm constantly tired and they say that I wake up 60 times an hour while sleeping on my back. So when I try to wake up early for the gym before work day and taking care of the baby, it's a lot of work and I'm very tired throughout the day.
Just got diagnosed with sleep apnea. I’ve been trying so hard to lose weight and it has been very discouraging and difficult. Makes sense now why I haven’t been able to lose and I’m always exhausted. Thankful for this video and encouragement to know there’s still hope so I can start feeling better and hopefully will be able to lose weight! Thank you!

I'm my biggest fan, I've had sleep apnea for at least ten years. I'm in really good shape, have lots of muscle on me, I'm a fit person & trust me, it has been such a challenge to gain muscle & lose fat without knowing I had sleep apnea, I was just diagnosed like two weeks ago & know I know why I'm not able to cut to low body percentage & why after six years of training I don't look as good as other people, but I've been training tired all this years, with migraines & really really tired 😅 so that's why I'm my biggest fan, I've manage to be in shape even with my terrible health condition. Can't wait to get my cpap & hoping my life improves 🙏🏻
I've had sleep apnea for around 3 years, only recently diagnosed. Found it much easier to avoid sugary foods such going on CPAP. Lost about 7lbs so far and focus has improved overall.

I literally crave a salad full of vegetables daily and iv never had that past 10 years. I wake up with a spring in my step and im literally playing with my cats while getting ready for the day. Yo! Happy to have found this. Last night I had my cpap fitting and actually slept most of the night. I need to my weight and health in check and hope once I finally get this machine, I can begin to take control. Eventually to not have to rely on that machine at some point. Sucks I need to rely on it, but at least I’m finally acknowledging it and moving on the direction of treating it.
Dear friend thank you so much. Your advice makes complete sense and as I'm a recently diagnosed sleep apnoea patient and am on a waiting list for my CPAP treatment and in the meantime am due to receive a custom made MAD device within the next few days, I cannot tell you how much your advice means to me. It was literally this year my husband revealed to me that I stop sleeping when I sleep. I had been progressively and rapidly gaining weight and seemingly falling asleep at the drop of a hat especially after a day in the office. I used to say it was like my get up and go just got up and went. I was just becoming like my mum God rest her soul! Just constantly sleepy and just assumed it was just me! But it was when it started getting chronic I realised something wasn't right and my husband saying and very casually saying I stop breathing when I sleep led to my discovering why my sudden rapid weight gain and carb cravings and on and on .. I cannot tell you how grateful I am to have been diagnosed...and I totally agree with your advice..and am determined to get the weight down but truly get now why I found it so hard to get the energy to even walk at times not to mention go to my gym..it all makes sense and you so perfectly explain what OSA does to you. Thank you. I am so grateful to have been diagnosed and my consultant was lovely and told me not to be so hard on myself for my rapid weight gain. She explained what you have articulated so well that my OSA causes that. Bless you. I am desperately want to lose the weight but I agree it will be easier to do once I start using my MAD and treatment starts.
Ive just been diagnosed with possibility of having Sleep Apnea. Will have a test in my own home. Need to wait till July before one is available. So, so pleased Ive been listened to. Thanks you Dr./ Bev.J. NewZealand
Had a wake up call, low tesosterone...high red blood cell count. Now i'm a week and a half almost using it. My family already is telling me im more alert and im starting to feel more motivated!!

I’m literally In tears watching your video because I was already struggling with my weight then Covid hit ! I gained 50lbs ! I just got my cpap machine I am praying this helps me ! But your video gives me real hope ! Thank you for posting it ‘
Love your channel brother thanks for all the information you put out, Cpap has changed my life before treatment I use to constantly wake up in the middle of the night and it was really hard to fall back asleep I use to wake up with a dry mouth sore throat from snoring so loud and always with no energy I would encourage anyone with these symptoms to go see a sleep specialist to get screened I only wish I done it sooner would of prevented 5 years of misery.
I have struggled with my weight pretty much since my teens (just loose weight, OK yeah that easy ah doc) always trying diet after diet, I was diagnosed last August with Sleep Apnea (62 episodes per hour) it knocked me for six tbh, I'm a shift worker doing the most ridiculous day/night 12 full rotation shift cycle ever which has probably over the last few years only added to my issues. At first after starting with my cpap machine I felt embarrassed and hated it but now after I learned to live with it and embraced the change in me and feel the full beneficial quality of sleep it gave me the changes in my mental health and the energy levels it has helped with too, I feel so much better, I started a calorie deficit diet and in the last 3 months I had lost 32lb... Bit of a blip at the moment on the back of Christmas and winter so I have gained more then I would like but I can completely agree about your video, I have found this balance between sleep apnea and dieting really does go hand in hand, my goal for this year is to try and drop 56lb a big loss but now I believe it is reachable due to the correct treatment. 👍🏻
Yes! Much needed message! Too much of health & wellness is "push yourself in the gym" to change things people can "see" (your waist line, body fat, etc.). But, in my book, someone NOT having apneic episodes at night is healthier than someone 15 pounds overweight. Don't get me wrong - exercise and decent body composition are important to health; but you need to fix things in the right order. You wouldn't put a booster on a broken engine; and you shouldn't push someone who isn't sleeping well whatsoever. Now, I know there is research saying that exercise offsets short-term sleep deprivation. But, I doubt that applies to long term intermittent hypoxia at night.
Thank you so much. I've had my machine for two weeks but have only used it half the time and of those seven days, 4 nights where I used it all night. It's so darn awkward but the nights I toughed it out and used it all night, my clarity the next morning was noticeable. Since I snore with my mouth open, I am using a full mask but it feels like a big hand is positioned to suffocate me but when I can relax out of my claustrophobia, I can feel the oxygen coming in. This segment really helped, since I've put on weight in the last 6 months to be the heaviest I've ever been. I must say, you sure help Nick. Cheers.
Hey mate, welcome to the channel and thanks for sharing your experience with the early stages of CPAP therapy. Everything you mentioned is pretty standard and common. I would recommend a few things though. Firstly, just because you snore with your mouth open does not mean you can't try / use a nasal or nasal pillow mask. EVERYONE with apnea says they are a 'mouth breather' and this is because they have Apnea which makes them suck air through their mouth. Once we treat the apnea with positive airway pressure you should be able to breathe through your nose. I ask people to do this quick test. Whilst you're reading this comment, close your mouth and breathe through your nose for 20 seconds. If you have no problem doing it whilst you're awake then you can do it when you are asleep. Might take a bit of practice though but i tell EVERYONE to start with a nasal or nasal pillow mask for the first 1-2 weeks at least and then switch to a full face mask after that if you can't get use to it. Here's a couple of other videos you might find useful - th-cam.com/video/TK58N4BqxwQ/w-d-xo.html Best wishes mate Nick

Makes a lot of sense. I've been on the keto diet for 4 months and have lost 7 pounds and have plateaued. My friend and family tell me I have horrible sleep apnea.
So glad this showed up in my feed. I was recently diagnosed with sleep apnea and am currently awaiting my APAP machine. Starting to feel hopeful! Thank you!!

I was diagnosed with severe sleep apnea about a month ago. Still waiting on my cpap machine due to the national shortage in the U.S. I’m so excited to be able to get a full nights sleep and have more energy and making it to where I want to be more active. The past couple years I’ve just felt like I’m half asleep all the time.
I've had my bi-pap for a few weeks now and I feel like a champ in the morning now. I used to wake up with headaches and hating myself especially having to go to work, but now I wake up and have so much energy and I'm always in such a good mood. Shits crazy how much this has changed my life so far.
I am also waiting on a CPAP machine since being diagnosed five months ago. I wish I could get it tomorrow, as I'm feeling as if my entire body is under stress all the time! I also suffer from Pulmonary hypertension which is a result of the sleep apnea, so I'm living with a double demon Sleep apnea, I've learned, causes all kinds of other diseases. I'm praying to receive my machine soon.
As you know Nick I’ve been a long time follower, and have purchased many products from you! I just want to say Thankyou for your input and expertise on the cpap issues that everyone here is subject to! You make things a lot easier to understand rather than ( and yes it’s happened to me ) a doctor just telling you “ Your just fat, lose some weight” .. Thank you !

Interestingly, when my sleep apnea first became noticable I started to gain weight. I put on 40 Kg over a two years. This is my third attempt to shake it off. Mate, it's been a pig to lose that weight - an ongoing effort. Thanks for discussing the connection between apnea and weight gain. Beauty!

I got diagnosed with very bad apnea 80+ episodes at night about 5 months ago but didn't get my machine because i really couldn't find any good reviews for cpap only bad but i think after this video and all the positive comments im going to go ahead and do it
I have central Sleep Apnea after getting my lungs burned in an accident. looks like next month I switch from oxygen to a cpap/bipap deal... weight gain was explained so well here. I have worked so hard to drop weight and no matter what I did or my doctors did, nothing was working. frustrating. as I am only 5ft tall. when you said "your body is stressed" and wont let go of it... makes me feel SOOOOO much better. Doc did say that I MAY be able to drop the pounds once my body is really able to sleep again. This video really was a help to me today.. I thank you for posting it. I hope the game went well for you too!
@@mbenavidez-spicer3890 I have not seen any weight loss yet, but I am very hopeful. only been 20 days since I started my cpap. I AM NOW SLEEPING about 8 hrs a night plus another 2 hrs for a nap. I was on oxygen and this move ito cpap is giving me more energy .... maybe in a few months, this weight will start dropping off.
@@laurakelly1718 thank you for responding. I am happy to hear you have more energy. I literally got mine delivered 10 minutes ago. I am hopeful it will help with both energy and weight loss. Good luck to you! Please post if there is any changes.
This makes complete sense. I have been trying to lose weight for a long time, and have never had the energy to do so. Even walking with my fiance was tiresome. I just had my sleep study done a couple of weeks ago and went for my results yesterday. Turns out I have severe sleep apnea, but surprisingly my lowest oxygen saturation was 79%, which my doctor said she was surprised it wasn't lower. She also said exactly what you said, that treatment for sleep apnea will help with weight loss. Its hard to lose weight when you are always tired and just don't have the energy. I have a desk job and after my 8 hours of work, the only thing I want to do is just sit on a couch and rest. Its become a horrible cycle that even I know is not good for me, but its hard to break when I have absolutely no energy. I go for my second study with the bipap and cpap machines in a couple of weeks. So I am excited to start the new year with treatment finally after years, maybe 20 years, of having sleep apnea. Thank you for the video and explanation!
I totally agree with what you have told here. I was overweight and was struggling to lose weight even though I was not eating a lot. After I have been diagnosed with apnea I started to use CPAP on a daily basis and with some gym, it was very easy to lose weight and back to my normal weight. I have still been using CPAP but also keeping my weight with success. I did NOT think about putting away my CPAP just because I lost weight because I know it's a very possible cycle that I might go back again.
Hi there, thanks for your comment and sharing your experience. Many people continue to use their cpap even if they lose a lot of weight as many just become use to it and feel they sleep better with it. Losing the weight though will also improve your quality of life (not just your sleep health). Have a great day
@@gallo4796 I did NOT stop using my CPAP device for a long time that's why I cannot answer your question. And I dont find it sensible to try it just because I lost weight. My doctor had told me that he has patients who are professional basketball players ( and obviously no weight issue) but still having apnea issue as well.
Be careful because loosing weight helps but you may still need the CPAP machine. There is an at home test they can have you do to see if you still need the CPAP. It goes on you finger and measures how many times your oxygen level gets too low.

Excellent video. I had high cortisol when my doc asked me to run some blood tests for some other issues. No one suggested I take an apnea test to see if I have OSA. Thankfully I researched and took one myself and eventually found out I have mild OSA. I just started a CPAP trial this week and hope to have some positive results in lowering BP and weight loss.
I have just started CPAP therapy (2 nights in) after being diagnosed with severe sleep apnea. I am currently considered morbidly obese by medical and health standards. To detail the struggle I've had with weight gain and loss would take up considerably too much space on the page, so I'll suffice for a summary: It's been (at least) a decade-long battle of various diet and workout regimes with mixed results. I will try to provide an update to this post in the future. Great video content and channel! Subbed.

I can’t wait to start with my CPAP. I’m still waiting for the DME to contact me. To contribute to the videos message though, I bottomed out at 195lbs and was still dealing with apnea. I’m 314lbs right now, thanks to anxiety meds keeping me calm enough to actually eat (too much food, granted) and at my lowest, I was RAIL THIN. Not sure weight is always the issue.
I am so glad I found your channel. I have been trying for a sleep study for over a year but because of this stupid virus crap nobody would even answer the phone. Finally had a home test done, 37 episodes an hour. Just got fit yesterday and slept with the ResMed 10. Took it off after about 3 hours, it will take some getting used to. I know I gained weight due to the lack of activity this past year and hope to start losing it again, though I know I had sleep problems before. Getting old and fat is no fun, and knowing I could drop dead any night because my poor sleep is wrecking my body is no fun either. Hoping this is going to help me be around a bit longer.
Thank you for the info. 2 weeks ago I learned I have obstructive sleep apnea. I am trying to learn everything I can on how to deal with it as well as being on a cpap machine now.

I enjoy your videos very much. They have helped me understand sleep apnoea much better. What I would like to say is that sleep apnoea should not only be fought with a CPAP machine. It also helps to look at sleep in general and maybe adjust your life to make it easier for your body to sleep well. For example, I have read a book on sleep by Dr Matthew Walker. It helped me a lot to understand sleep better. Greetings from GOOD OLD GERMANY Horst

Fantastic

Unethical? It's medical malpractice. He should be sued and have his license revoked for that reason. That fool is going to get people killed.

Yes, there are few situations like that.
Thank you dear Elizabeth your testimonial has given me hope and something to look forward to. So happy for you x

Probably cause it's a very specific topic so there isn't that much quest for it.

Great channel, getting a diagnosis was life changing for me! I was always rail thin until my late 20's when I got sleep apnea!
Did you end up cureing it with weight loss

It still blows my mind how things like energy levels and sex drive come back once after a short while of continue use of cpap… I’m shocked how great I feel since using this
Amen brother.
I had the same experience.
It's amazing how many health issues
a good night's sleep will solve.
To be shocked is one thing... As long as your wife doesn't have the desire to hide your cpap!! 👈🏻 😜....
Omg this great to hear. I’m waiting on my cpap machine. I been dealing with CFS for 6 years and had hysterectomy 4 years ago it’s been a hard . No Energy and I can’t lose weight.
This is why I like your videos so much…you make so much sense
Hi there, Thumbs up to you! You are the first person i come across that talk bloody sense. Thanks, cause i really battle, no energfy to do sweet all, and the more i try to get my weight under control the more i loose this bloody battle. Will go and see a decent therapist.
Nice one mate, best wishes for the future
Thank you!
Hi Mari, thanks for sharing your experience and i wish you all the success in the world for your weight loss goals. Take care. Nick

Wow! Massive congratulations. Keep it up :-)

NewZealand
This was a great video! Treating the Apnea is the primary and first thing to fighting the apnea. :)
Had a wake up call, low tesosterone...high red blood cell count. Now i'm a week and a half almost using it. My family already is telling me im more alert and im starting to feel more motivated!!

Thank you for this video. I'm going for my sleep study on the 5th.
You have excellent videos! Thank you! ♥
Glad you enjoy them
thank you for this, its a very encouraging video and what youre saying about the feedback loop makes perfect sense. thanks again!
Glad you enjoyed it mate
Thanks for the heads up....
You bet! Best wishes mate. Nick
Here's a couple of other videos you might find useful - th-cam.com/video/TK58N4BqxwQ/w-d-xo.html
Best wishes mate

I also suffer from Pulmonary hypertension which is a result of the sleep apnea, so I'm living with a double demon
Sleep apnea, I've learned, causes all kinds of other diseases. I'm praying to receive my machine soon.
It took 3 months to get my cpap from MSC sleep I finally got it and used for the first time last night and I woke up feeling well rested
Thank you !

Praying for you and all our friends in covid crazy Australia.
Have a great day
Can you sleep without it now you lost weight and not have apnea
@@gallo4796 I did NOT stop using my CPAP device for a long time that's why I cannot answer your question. And I dont find it sensible to try it just because I lost weight. My doctor had told me that he has patients who are professional basketball players ( and obviously no weight issue) but still having apnea issue as well.
Be careful because loosing weight helps but you may still need the CPAP machine. There is an at home test they can have you do to see if you still need the CPAP. It goes on you finger and measures how many times your oxygen level gets too low.

Subbed.
Hi guys, ResMed is trying to take down my channel. It will probably get shut down tomorrow. Here's a Facebook Group i started! Please join for support - facebook.com/groups/138127984943408 .
Just curious as to how you're doing, I just started my cpap 2 nights ago.
@Janel D CPAP is a game changer for sure; I just got my upgraded Dreamstation per the recall. Best sleep I've gotten in 10 years. More productive during the day, better health all around.
@@vvebvvaster Glad to hear it! 🙂
@@vvebvvasterhow are you doing?
Thank you Nick.
Very welcome. Take care mate

This guy quickly became my hero
I can’t wait to start with my CPAP. I’m still waiting for the DME to contact me.
To contribute to the videos message though, I bottomed out at 195lbs and was still dealing with apnea. I’m 314lbs right now, thanks to anxiety meds keeping me calm enough to actually eat (too much food, granted) and at my lowest, I was RAIL THIN.
Not sure weight is always the issue.
Great video! Thank you.
Thanks for the support. You're welcome :-)

Have you start loose weight after using. Cpap machine?
I'm here I just received a text message from Philip's about recalls on their Cacp Ventilators
Thank you for the info. 2 weeks ago I learned I have obstructive sleep apnea. I am trying to learn everything I can on how to deal with it as well as being on a cpap machine now.
You're welcome! it's very important to get all the information you can :-). Let me know if you ever need any assistance. Good luck. Nick
@@CPAPReviews Thank you
Hi guys, ResMed is trying to take down the CPAP Reviews channel. I think we might have 12 hours left. Here's a Facebook Group i started! Please join for support - facebook.com/groups/138127984943408 . If you have any free time please copy this and post it on the comments. Thank you so much! Nick
Makes perfect sense, thank you...
Welcome, glad you enjoyed it :)

Thanks Nick, watched several of your videos about adjusting my machine. So appreciate your good info.
