Yes! I am really terrified because even in conservative circles this seems to be an agreed upon narrative. When I was a teacher I literally had conservative parents who told me that reality didn’t matter, what mattered was how their kid felt. If their kid FELT like I picked on them, it didn’t matter if I actually was more lenient with them than every other student. If their kid FELT like they should have passed math, it didn’t matter that they were in 6th grade and couldn’t add or subtract or interpret a simple problem. If their kid FELT LIKE they’d done their best on a project, it didn’t matter if they only wrote their name on it.
