Being a single black woman I raised my three sons and daughter . I didn't let them hang out with the wrong people and made them take their education seriously. Now I have a nurse, police officer, oral surgeon and a vet. It really about choices. I worked two jobs cleaning houses and worked as a cashier . And yes at times I had to go on food stamps and medicaid.

In 27 years in law enforcement, the vast majority of juveniles involved in crimes only have mother's and grandmother's at home. This is true with both black and white juveniles.
I was in juvenile corrections for 7 years and same thing

It doesn't matter who's in the home, regardless of color if the family is dysfunctional it effects the children. There are many variables that we have to take into account, but I think it's safe to say a strong family unit that is involved with each other plays a more positive role in the children than not. Sorry I'm having trouble putting this into words, hopefully you will understand what I'm getting at?
I totally agree my kids live with me and my and we live with my mum their father hasn't been around for years and I can see how it's affecting my boys especially my eldest it's hard on children my eldest who's 12 can't control his emotions and gets angry and violent towards me it's heartbreaking and all he wants is his dad.

Having an example of a healthy male to emulate, is key for the develo0pment of young boys into healthy men ... Otherwise these same young boys are left to "figure it out for themselves" and the streets and gangs and the cycle of violence is the only form of "masculinity" they are exposed to on a regular basis will provide them with this "education". Eventually this "world" swallows them and never spits them back out again.

"Statistically" a father in the home makes a huge impact, not in every cases, but the majority of cases, a father in the home yeilds better outcomes than one without.
Studies have recently shown that having any 2 adults in the house raising the kids helps. It's not as good as mom and dad, but it's still better than one.

The next argument I hear is the way someone looks, so if this is true, would if not also be true that if someone has blue eyes and blonde hair, this would make them a different race then someone that is blue eyed and have red hair? and also on this note since women are so much different in their physical appearance, would this not make them also different races? This is how absurd the concept of sub races within humans are. this is like saying a pit bull is a different specie then a Labrador. Until we can see all people as part of the human race which is the only race within our species this type of thought will not change.

I can't speak for the whole race, but I'm a white male and I never had my father in my life and was raised by my grandmother most of my life. Yet here I am working my job every day with aspirations to start my own business. It comes down to accountability and hard work which no one wants to do anymore.

I worked in a night club at the time we played all newer music. The crowd was split between black and white. We had fights every weekend that the cops had to sit in the parking lot at closing time and it was always blacks. We closed then changed the name and music to 70's 80's 90's and early 2000's. We had a majority white crowd and never had fights after .

Well said & I completely agree! I'm a 46 yr old white woman & I grew up poor. My father raised me & my younger siblings. When my mother left, I became an instant mother to my siblings! Life has never been easy or abundant & I don't blame anyone else for how my life turned out!

@@kathleenking47 I totally agree but even the most well structured family values can be destroyed by one bad friend... My family is doing well but like I said I just don't understand where they got some of the options that they have. I believe mine are going to be fine they're just young adults who will eventually figure it out because they did have the support system that you talked about but from about 18 years old until they're about 28 they can make some very questionable decisions and are very easily influenced by outside sources.

I grew up in the 80's and everywhere I looked, I was taught that I am not cool, have no rhythm, no culture of my own, am at fault for everything bad that happened to non-whites, and was constantly called "white boy" as if it were a pejorative. I was constantly beaten down with guilt, and made to feel as if I always had to prove how non racist I was. I had to pay for my own college, as I didnt have a surname that qualified me for grants. And when I got out of college, I was turned down for jobs in order to satisfy an arbitrary ratio. When I worked for Verizon, I intercepted the email of a supervisor who went out of her way to hire blacks first. Trust me, "white supremacy" is an oxymkron. My skin color is a bigger impediment ..
I'm not gonna say it's a BIGGER impediment, but everything else you say is true. White kids are constantly trying to prove how non racist they are, and not so white they are, as if their lives depended on it. I applaud those with diverse friends, but don't allow anyone to make you feel ashamed for the way you were born. You were born in that skin for a reason. Just be loving to people in your day to day life, and seek to understand, but not to the extent that you deny yourself. All people get hate. All people get hated on for one reason or another. If it's not for skin, then it's for anything else, the way you walk, your voice, your teeth, your height. We all have challenges, and we will never be accepted by everyone. We all have been hurt.

@James G As an appraiser I would find it impossible to see it double. Appraisals are done based on comparable homes in a close area that most recently sold. Could numbers change, yes they can. But it could also be that between the first and second appraisal a home closed at a higher price. But it will very from appraiser to appraiser. Call in 3 appraisers for the same day. Don't change anything you will not have 3 identical numbers, but they should be close. Appraisers can be sued, if the price too low or high. It is a difficult job.
