    Spearfish is the Boulder of the Black Hills. College town, outdoor culture, retirement and vacation homes, retail, brewery scene... high end. 🍻🧗🏽🚵‍♀️🏡

    I really enjoy your videos of the Black Hills areas! We hope to move there within the next 10 years, and your videos provide a great perspective on what it is like to live there and the various communities throughout the hills.

    I just moved to the Spearfish Area - Christian Morrison was my realtor - I'll try to reply to whatever specific questions I come across. We like this area a lot.

      I agree with a lot of what Destin said - I like the small businesses and restaurant selection - everyone is very friendly and the area is beautiful. There is a nice playground and a "fish hatchery" which is cool to check out with young kids. The rec center looks to have a nice water park with slides and things for kids as well although we haven't checked it out yet.

      We moved here in August and stayed in Rapid City for a month while closing on our house near Spearfish - so all my experience of SD is mostly in the black hills. We have never worn a mask anywhere since we got here, and most people don't. There are places that say masks required on signs, such as the bigger businesses (Safeway grocery store for example), however most people don't even wear masks and just walk in. There are no confrontations that I have witnessed or that happened to me. I wouldn't say Spearfish is liberal. They do have a college in town so you do see some younger people wearing masks, probably a requirement of the college. Some of the workers at places have to wear masks as a policy, but as the average person walking around it's not required/enforced anywhere. In fact there are several businesses in downtown Spearfish that have signs against forced masks, or stating things like "Masks not required!". The last several times I've been out to eat in Spearfish exactly 0 patrons were wearing masks, it was a great feeling.

    I grew up in Rapid City years ago but never forgot how beautiful the area is. I very much enjoy your videos and the quality info you provide. I'm growing quite weary of California and find myself exploring other possibilities.

    Great presentation to the both of you. I am retired from the Air Force and live in Spokane, WA. Housing here has gone ridiculous as new residents from California and the Seattle to name a couple have started bidding wars on homes. My house will sell in a day or two. Yes its that fast!! The problem is that anything purchased locally is wasteful . It would just raise the mortgage. Reason for leaving is congestion. There are other reasons but will refrain for now. Looking for 1 to 3 acres with minimal neighbors. House or manufactured already in place is ideal.

    Is there alot of paranormal activity near and around the Black Hills?
    UFOs, hauntings, cryptids, aerial phenomena?
    I would like to investigate that area

    Are there any Filipinos or Asian markets in Spearfish or Rapid City? My wife is Filipino and we're thinking of relocating from Colorado Springs as we want to live in a red state, but she's worried there won't be any other Filipinos to connect with. My wife has only been in the US for 2 years, so she's still adjusting to American life, that's why I'm asking. Anyway, thanks to anyone with answers. God bless

    Would you live in Spearfish as a snow lover? I love the snow and I’m contemplating between Lead and Spearfish. How do the winters compare?

    • @karilynn3535
      @karilynn3535 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Winters are the same....Lead in not htat far from Spearfish....I'd choose Spearfish over Lead in a heartbeat. It's an entire different feeling. Lead is the Nutty Buddy without the chocolate coating and chopped peanuts while Spearfish has both plus a cherry on top.

    • @shadow6563
      @shadow6563 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Generally Spearfish is easier to traverse during the winter. Lead is established farther into the black hills and therefore has many mountain roads that are extremely difficult to drive during the winter. Spearfish is a good place to settle because you not only have the amazing winter views but you also have easier travel from place to place.

    When I was stationed in Rapid City, the locals were rude and businesses rip you off. Goods jump Memorial Day Weekend until Labor Day Weekend. Interstate 80 is constantly under construction because State bought concrete plant. Go buy a new car. Dealers will tell you the price is the price. Denver is 8 hours away if you want competition.

    • @TheChrisPutnam
      @TheChrisPutnam 3 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Good if you have AT&T or Verizon. Not good if you have Sprint or T-Mobile. You will pretty much have to switch to AT&T or Verizon if you plan to live here.

    • @karilynn3535
      @karilynn3535 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      We've been using Tracfone for over 15 years while there (vacation home). Never a problem. Tracfone uses whatever service is closest to you so as you drive somewhere it could switch providers....always getting the best service. And, did I mention reasonably priced? I still have ove 3000 minutes that I bought for 200.00 over 2 year ago...I'm not a big talker. But, as one whose been using cells since the 80s, Trac is the best. Research it.

    Internet access?

    • @TheChrisPutnam
      @TheChrisPutnam 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Pretty good internet access if you in the right areas, some of the more remote areas don't have service. Contact Vast or MidCo and have them confirm that they service the property address you are looking at. Compared to where I lived in New England, speeds are higher and cheaper and more reliable here.
