    On the LBZ, should delete factory fuel filter when adding a lift pump. The priming pumps will leak once you add positive pressure from a lift pump. Save the headache and delete. I agree with this video!

      Bro go back to some of TM older vids. His mods and repairs to his LBZ are dam near identical to your an mine LLY. His vids helped me out a great deal. Get rid of the stock mouth peice. Cheapest route is replacing it with a LBZ mouth peice. Then replace fuel pressure valve with a PPE. Spring in stick one gets real weak due to time and mileage.

    As an LB7 owner, you can under how reluctant I am to remove any filter. I literally just rebuilt my filter head 2 days ago. I've had a lift pump since 2017 after doing the injectors myself the first time. I'll keep 2 girl filters and 2 water separators. Still going strong.

  • @robprice58
    @robprice58 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    If you want to eliminate the filter use the blocker plate as the factory filter housing also has a heating element in it for colder climates, and even with winter diesel on especially cold days this could leave you stranded on startups as the fuel will not flow properly. And if you are running a multi system filter setup with lift pump then you won't need to change the filter as much, but with the factory filter in place it will also give you a warning if you get a bad batch of fuel with high water content and hopefully prevent you from blowing the tips off your injectors due to water.

    Like the recent videos - this one is same as my truck (2008 Chevrolet 2500HD crew cab w/ short bed) so extra helpful.
    I'm currently replacing all the fuel hoses w/ braided stainless steel due to flexing in the rubber parts of the originals - was getting fuel starved and giving code P0087 then limp mode. Pulled the tank, changed the sending unit, changed all the supply /return lines. Still have to do the 5 little ones under the hood (269.00 for 5 little hoses)
    FYI - If you run into a decent set of stock exhaust manifolds with heat shield for the LMM I would be interested - mine are about rusted away. Like the vids - keep it up

    the issue with removing the factory filter and filter head, is if u do get water in the fuel and you dont have the factory filter and sensor there, you will not know and it will destroy the fuel system, that is why i just leave it there for the WIF sensor... its cheep insurance, yes the air dogs filter can hold alot of water, but usally when u get water in the fuel you get 2 or 3 liters in there, which will fill that filter quickly.

    Sorry in advance for the long post. I put an airdog lift pump on my lly, thought to myself "wow, its running way smoother". But I had to fill up a little sooner than usual, later that same day I found I had a fuel leak, the factory filter housing had a leak at the primer button. Ended up bypassing the factory filter. Can only wonder how long it was leaking, or if the lift pump caused it to start leaking.

    On my LB7 2001 there’s a wire that goes from the bottom of the fuel filter housing to the harness. Maybe a sensor wire that connects to an idiot light.
    If bypassing the housing is the loose wire going to work the dummy light? If not, there’s a bypass bowl that allows one to reuse the drain where the sensor wire connects. I wonder if the dummy light will sense this modification

  • @chrisao1987

This spring when i replaced all of my fuel filters approximately 15K on em, the cat filter was dirty a bit, not bad by any means but definitely not new. My kanundrum is, if the lift pump whatever brand it is Fass/Airdog sends entirely clean fuel to the rail then why does the factory filter still need to be changed, there should be absolutely nothing getting caught in it anyway, which that definitely isn't the case. so by deleting the factory filter, where is all of this still factory filter caught material going and going through?? What about the water in fuel sensor won’t you get a check engine light if you unplug it? Just curious

    Maybe I just effed up? Lol. I had cp3 conversion I installed on my 15’ lml, got rid of the oem fuel filter housing but did away with the pressure relief valve as well? I understand that might. It be ideal, but should still work, correct?

    I just had a mechanic, do a fuel pump conversion, and a push pump on a 2016 and when I got it back, it was sluggish and surging in places. What did he do wrong?

    In another video you said the only way you'd run a FASS pump is if you used different filters. I have an LB7 with a FASS, it came with it when i bought the truck. I was just wondering what filters you would recommend for the FASS pump?

    Love your videos, however I have a 2006 LLY GMC SAVANA! Things are not the same! I bought it modified and I’m the third owner, I think I have two fuel filters, one in the engine bay and one up underneath! The one in the engine area is impossible to get to, I want to replace it but I’m not sure if it’s a standard size?

    Im about to install the AirDog 165 on my 2012 LML (better late than never I guess) but I chose to go with the fuel filter delete kit. Basically puts a shorter, pass thru filter in place of the factory filter. I had never considered completely removing the filter housing and bypassing with a hose like you did here... I like the idea, but I already paid for the delete filter and am out of the return policy haha. Any reason why I should do this over the delete kit?

      I have an 11 LML with the FASS delete kit as well as Fleece priming bulb delete since I have a FASS 165 lift pump. I just purchased the little U shaped hose kit and will be removing just because I want to get rid of as much unnecessary parts as I can.

    what effects are there by not running the fuel through the icm? on a lb7

  • @kdbritt48
    @kdbritt48 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    I'm try to fix my lb7.
    This is the second time for head gaskets.
    What do you thank the best gasket is to use.
    Would it be beneficial to use the screw in cups?
    This is very frustrating. I had a shop do the head gaskets before. It's only been about 20000 miles.
    If I replace them again is this going to be a constant issuem

    Josh dude when you made that RC bumper and installed it on your LMM you completely blocked the air flow to the transmission cooler, for the cooled transmission fluid with that bumper.

    Does deleting the stock filter make a difference in a return flow rate test? I already have an airdog installed. I need a test done to check out my injectors.

    I just followed your video step by step, and I went to start the vehicle and it started but died instantly. My CTS3 is showing that my fuel rail pressure isn’t meeting the desired to start the truck. I’m not hearing my lift pump turn on when turing the ignition on. Any info on why this might be happening would be greatly appreciated.
