WatchOS 10 will be able to do a lot of new things! For many athletes one of the most important features is the opening of the API for 3rd party training programs like TrainingPeaks. With TP, many athletes realize the communication to the trainer and he creates the plans, for example, for running intervals. These had to be programmed manually or run with another app. This is possible from WatchOS 10. In addition, you can pair Bluetooth sensors such as watt crank or cadence.

You can pair Bluetooth HR sensor with Apple Watch and all apps will use that date after you have paired that. It’s been there since 1st generation Apple Watch. Apple’s own workout app can use external HR sensor just like other app. Just pair external HR sensor in Bluetooth settings and Apple Watch use that automatically after that.

Does the work outdoors app have the same stats as Healthfit, or does healthfit still have more stats. Work outdoors app doesn’t have the option for syncing info to all your other apps? Also why haven’t you given up your garmin? haha. I’ve been running with my Apple Watch and garmin for a long time but I’d love to just have my Apple Watch. Work outdoors will likely bring me closer to doing that. I also like that my garmin display is always on, my Apple Watch is a series 3 so doesn’t, but I’m not sure I want my Apple Watch always on except for when I’m exercising haha. Do you find it annoying to lift your wrist to see stats vs easy glance to your garmin? Thanks, great video!

I bought an Apple Watch, then I got a Garmin Fenix 6, the Garmin watch and Ecosystem are built for running. I find it easier to do what I want when I want in terms of running on the Garmin. A touchscreen isn't that great to use while running. Still use both but the Garmin is my primary running device. Give me the Garmin Fenix with a brighter High Res OLED display and I'll be completely happy, fingers crossed for Fenix 7.

Otherwise I’ll have to return this Watch, coz every time it says 18km whereas I run only 10k on the treadmill. I’m a treadmill only runner, I cannot run outside and let the Watch „learn“ my running pattern, it’s too cold outside…

However apple doesn’t disable its own HR sensor while using a chest strap. Not does it have the option to force it off entirely. Extremely frustrated at it destroys battery life. They have the option for their own native app only. It’s insane if them. Let me control it for long runs. The Apple Watch is trash for long distance runners who want to stream music. It doesn’t need to be.
I have to run with my Garmin Fenix 6 when running marathons and streaming music. It lasts longer the whole marathon zero charge. Does anyone know anyone at apple? Drives me insane. If you connect a BLE sensor to the Apple Watch via the AW settings app / Bluetooth it actually will use it instead of the integrated HR sensor. If you connect it via an App like Workoutdoors it will stay partially on… let’s say using Workoutdoors you have the benefit to add HRV values to your recorded training if the HR Strap supports it. Using the external sensor and deactivating the internal one is also a nice battery saving and most probably the preferred way for most 😊

Most Apple running apps including even Strava, do not provide for laps / manual laps / reps.
