Branson's a great town! There are "Free" things to do and you can spend all your time just doing "Free" things. But you're really missing out if you don't watch any of great shows available in this show town. Hey, you're on vacation. Spend a little money and make your vacation the best it can be!
But I do miss the "Jennifer in the Morning" show with Jennifer in Branson. Went to her show in 2001. But learned that Jennifer was doing a show with comedian Pete Moss elsewhere recently.
I'm from just south of Sevierville TN and I've been to Gatlinburg/pigeon forge numerous times. I can't get over just how similar these 2 places are. Right down to the free "moonshine/whiskey" bar and Dolly Partons places. I.e. Dolly world and stampede. It takes all or any of the originality out of what this place once used to be and turned it into nothing more than a tourist trap. I mean even the aquarium is the same and the "mountain coaster" I'm disappointed to say the least. I'm almost 100% certain that all the people and developers of this place also have roots in Tennessee. Sad.
Scooby Carr Branson is on lake Taneycomo it is a trout lake which means it is cold, very cold. I would look for shallow areas that would warm up faster. Best for swimming would be the beaches at Table Rock lake. As always caution is key.

When I moved here from GA I was told what Lake Taneycomo stood for. It took the romance out of the name!!!!

Adam Hughes I agree. We have done that many times. This trip we wanted to see what could be done on a budget. And it was still a good time.
Have to spend a little while im there. We love steak houses so we eating out alot.
