wow, I know you Taylor, I use to do RBC with you back in the day with Ken. Just started doing Irrigation 3 months ago but i learned alot on those KH hall builds.
Great video. I'm in Canada so my regs would be significantly different than yours but what do you need generally speaking to get started in this business?
I highly recommend having a irrigation system before laying sod. It greatly improves your chances the pieces root well. Doing it after would cause alot of damage and you really wont be able to utilize the benefits of having one.
@@sprinklerboss How much do you charge for the controller? I typically charge 750 to 1,000 per valve and 250 for the controller. When I give them a price at 1,500 per valve they don't hire me. Also is $2 per sqft too cheap when it comes to installing sod? I'm in Northern California. Thanks
@@eduardocanales3483 one thing I’ve learned is just know what it costs you to produce the job (labor and materials) and just figure out how much profit you WANT to make. Don’t worry about “going rates” or market prices.. just charge what you need to. We only offer two controllers Rachio Or Rain bird. Nothing against the other brands but we just want to keep it simple. We charge $600-$1000 for rachio and $400-$800 for rain bird tm2 depending on station amount.. follow the “contractor fight” if your having problems with people accepting your price…
@@sprinklerboss im paying the guy 3k but actually 3400 for an extra zone. He was gonna tap off a spicket for my deck plants but said it will flood the plants because that zone will run for 45 minutes. So hes giving me a zone for 400.00 is it a sales tactic maybe but hes cool and lives down the block. So he said I could pay him 400 later.
@@saeed7099 yes it does because yourself doesn’t know all the proper materials to use and you can make water flow all kinds of ways. It does not mean you have a professionally installed system at all, just a good jerry rigger
I legitimately appreciate this video. It is pretty niche but the information is something that helps a homeowner like myself.

Hi long time no see, how have you been?
I had a rain bird system with five zones installed with Wi-Fi last month on my half acre of land. It was 5045.00. I live Huntsville AL.
Thx for this info. I won't need nearly that many zones so it helps me figure out a few more things.
Just got quoted 5k 5 zones in gulf shores area
Great video Taylor, clear, concise, and to the point. Thank you for sharing :)

thanks for the info. that was straight to the point.
Amazing how expensive California is compared to here in Alabama 4 zone system for your grass in Alabama is 2000 bucks
I wish houses were as cheap here as they are in Alabama
Thanks! From SC.
Thank you for the info
Question for you....I have to replace my lawn with new soil and sod. Do I do that 1st or have the irrigation put in 1st?

Irrigation first please
Does 1 zone include also the price for the controller or is that a separate cost? Also does 1 zone mean 1 valve or can 1 zone have 2 valves.
1 zone is one valve and all the PVC pipe for that zone and installation. No controller, that would be additional.

This is cute. It costs $1500 in materials to properly install and irrigation system in a 3,500 sq ft yard
Pfft, cost less of you do it yourself.
