    I DIY'd mine 2 years ago with a trencher and yes it was a ton of work, 80% of the job was actually filling the trench back in. Managed to do it all in 4 days and I get far less overspray on my driveway, sidewalks and patio than my neighbors' professionally installed systems thanks to my MP Rotators.

    I installed this exact same system myself as a DIY on a 10k sq ft yard last fall. It was definitely a lot of work and took a lot of planning. I installed almost 80 heads, and had to tunnel under sidewalk 5 times since i have a corner lot, and need to get into the easement. Heck I was able water my entire easement with ~20 side stripe heads on a single zone, yea i have a large corner lot! It so awesome, and I don't think you can do that with traditional short range spray nozzle, but I could be wrong.
    I learned to use a trencher, and it took more time backfilling the trenches. I saved myself almost 5K!! It is definitely a lot of work, and it took about 5 full days to install 8 zones, and rough in 2 additional zones for landscape irrigation.
    After it is all said and done, MP Rotators and their Hydrowise are the way to go. I can tell a big difference between my lawn and my neighbors who have traditional spray nozzles. I only water my lawn 5 times a week, and it every sq ft of the lawn get no more than 1" of watering a week. Plus the controller can monitor how much rain I received at my house to alter the water schedule.
    I am thinking of creating a video tutorial or my process. It includes the planning, such as how to zone using Hunters provided documents, and installation process using poly tubing since I documented every step I did for future reference. I even had professional irrigation ppl see it, and they were impressed. Lol, or just making me feel good and not telling the truth. Haha.
    If anyone is interested, let me know I can create it!

    Everyone interested in irrigation should have an installer this knowledgeable. If they can’t discuss overlap, distances, volume and psi, send them off your property!!!!
    I actually pulled out the existing irrigation system that came with the house I purchased. There are SO many scam artists installing these things they have no clue nor care about what they’re doing. Amazing job fellas, im a Irrigation Technician myself and the install looks phenomenal. The only thing I'm not really a fan of is the Poly-Pipe for the main an zone lines. This is pretty much my exact setup: mprotators with the hydrawise controller (my installers thought I was nuts when I asked for them since you need a lot more heads for full coverage). Only thing I wish my installer did was give me 6” popups in certain areas since I mow tall at 4” most of the year. In certain sloped areas, the head barely gets out over the grass especially when it’s overgrown. Something to consider if you have sloped areas or mow tall!

    • @PrincessCutLawnCare

      @@PrincessCutLawnCare in certain areas I may make them swap them out but I finally got the lawn back to what it was prior to install so I’d hate to tear up some of turf again. Even though they used the same machine as your installation, it still left divots that I had to level out alone with reseeding certain areas. Minimal damage compared to trenching but definitely still needed work after they left…

    Thanks for the video. I have the Hunter PRS bodies and MP rotators, only 18 months since install and two MP rotators do not turn automatically anymore and need a manual turn to get them going. The supplier replaced both for free, but it took a lot of discussion back and forth before they would accept the return. Citing reasons like, my pressure is low (no), clean the units they must be dirty (that was my first step), you have hard water (well who doesn't), these are designed to work flawlessly (no).
    They work great and I love them, but be aware, you will have issues with the MP rotators at some point and they will need replacement. Easy and cheap to do, but not without fault. The coverage they provide is excellent.

    • @wally7856
      @wally7856 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      If you don't already have them, swap out to mp rotators. Their low flow can handle that many heads on a zone provided you have 1" lines and decent pressure.

    • @TanLe-dx6uw
      @TanLe-dx6uw 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      1 zone can go up to 100 IF you have strong water flow called GPM ( gallons per minute). For example: if you have 20 GPM, then 1 sprinkler used 1 gpm. You can use up to 20 sprinkler.
      Most of RVan is the kind of rotary nozzle have use 1 or less. So basically check your water pressure, use rotary nozzle like the video you will have good system.

    Happy for you to get a new system!! I on the other hand will still be pulling hoses all over the yard. I have 6500 sq ft just in the front yard. I've looked into it but stopped when the price was getting way to high for me and that was doing the work myself. Now after seeing your video I may just forget it. DIY can be done right if you are committed. I live in Wild West Florida and just did my entire irrigation system from sub panel all the way to nozzle and even moved location of artesian well source to the pump. Did all 800 feet of 3/4 pvc by hand, no machines. But it took me nearly 3 months. We don’t screw around and use pvc schedule 40.

    With the online websites available to help the DIYer, this is really not that difficult of a job as they state. This is a big sales pitch but still a great informative video. There are several website you can upload your house and lot layouts that you have drawn out of use Google Maps for an aerial view of your house and take a snapshot. Upload and you can plan the entire system out with zones etc. Now be sure to check with local laws etc for permits etc but yes it's usually true you need a plumber to get the plumbing part done but it's not thousands of dollars for the install. There are so many websites to help you out and get the job done yourself and done right. Now don't get me wrong, the Pros do a great job and have lots of experience but one can do it yourself with planning because that's what your paying for with a Professional installation. Heck I currently use my backyard faucet with a 3 way timer splitter and it works great! Do what works for you!

    My last house I paid for a professional install, my current house put in a full 12 zone system myself, 0 issues. The professional one, multiple leaks, heads not dialed in, and a messing looking wiring in the valve box. My install super clean valve box, all wiring in conduit, added surface shutoff, filter, pressure gauge and blow out connection.
    I think this guy is overselling the professional work being labor intensive lol. One of the easier jobs I have done.

    I did DIY using a regular hose, flexible pipe to connect sprinkler heads and MP rotators then each “zone” hooked up on a Orbit B-Hyve timer. Since I’m using normal pressure coming out of the house, I could only connect 3-4 heads per “zone”. I dug by hand using a shovel (huge pain) but at least it is “in ground” now.

      I did professional install in my new build that’s currently building. this is solely because the real estate market in that area prefers it. (Almost every house has it.)
      If the local market didn’t care for it (ie. there is little to no ROI in home value for installing professional in-ground sprinklers), I would still do DIY.
