Great review! I’m running two charge 5’s in stereo. Your point is well taken that the extreme 3 is a stereo speaker which also makes a difference.
I bought both, paid $120 for the Charge 5 and $280 for the Xtreme 3. The Xtreme is the better speaker, but it’s not 2x better like the price suggests and I was blown away by how close they are in performance. I’m returning the Xtreme and getting a second Charge, easily the best value speaker JBL makes.

Well i have both and i prefer the xtreme 3 if you upgrade it is definitely worth it i use my xtreme 3 every day and it sounds great. Plus you can connect them together and they get loud. I would recommend upgrading but i took me a while to save up for the xtreme 3 it’s so expensive😂
honestly the charge 5 is forced to have more punchy bass to make it sound louder resulting in a loss of bass, more noticeable at full volume
Extreme 3 is kinda bulky but it definitely has more "oomph" and overall more pleasant sound. I'm currently deciding which one to buy, but I'm leaning towards the xtreme 3.

I have both of these speakers. The Extreme 3 might be better than the Charge 5, but not by much. And the Charge 5 is about half the price of the Extreme 3. I’d suggest getting two Charge 5’s which sounds so much better than one Extreme 3, and at the same price.

When I'm outside (on a basketball court), one Charge5 is cannot be heard at all!!
Listened to this with the usual HP system (Oppo105/Feliks Elise/HD800). The X3's sound had more weight, a bigger sense of scale, and more extended highs. This being said, I didn't hear a night and day difference within their respective performance envelopes. I have no doubt that auditioning both speakers with one's own ears may produce a different impression.
Sounds right. The Charge 5 seems flat compared to the Extreme 3 but not an earth shattering difference. I guess is comes down to how much someone is willing to pay for fuller sound.

I have high-quality headphones on, and it was a night and day difference for me. The treble on the Charge 5 sounded too "tinny" sounding (If that's a word).
The Extreme 3 had a much fuller sound signature and the mid-tones sounded clearer and more pronounced. Both, great speakers to go along with a great review. Thank you!
Afther the Charge 5 software update, sound is more full and balanced (though just a bit less clear, factory software was very clear).

I've been contemplating about this two the price is high both of them charge 5 is 120,000 and the Xtreme is 220,000 but from ya review I've decided to save more and buy the Xtreme 3 cause in Nigeria no one cares about outdoor noise pollution,,
I would love to hear , 2 jbl charge 5 speakers paired in stereo, with about 5 feet separation between them vs JBL extreme 3, that would be a fair test.
For the sound jbl makes good speakers.
The big negative point is to have changed the stand because now it's rubber that makes it hold and it's of poor quality because after a while it peels so it does not hold in place.it's a shame.I hope they will return to the stand which was well done.

Two charge 5 sound way better the xtreme 3 sucks I bought it took it back the next day Walmart has had charge 5 on sale between 104.99-129.99 idk why but I bought 3 instead 2 for me 1 for my son and he has the pulse4 that linked with the charge 5 sounds really good

Don't forget there is bass booste mode or "lfm" that sill put the xtreme at a huge advantage with bass.
I would get the Xtreme 3 but I think it's just too bulky. I want something I can throw in a backpack along with other stuff. You could fit an Extreme 3 into a backpack but you'd have no space left for other stuff!! I got my Charge 5 yesterday and pretty impressed so far.
Keep in mind the Charge 5 is probably better than any other Bluetooth speaker in the market outside of the Xtreme. The Charge 5 is still superb. The Charge 5 gets LOUD. I turned the volume up to 50% on my phone and about 50% on the speaker and it was already blowing my ears. If you just need a speaker on your desk at work or at home the Charge 5 is more than enough. If you are having a party or a gathering with a lot of people the Xtreme is the way to go
take note that charge 5 doesn't have auxiliary input
Too bad that JBL speakers are rubbish when it comes to battery performance in real life compared to other brands. I had 2 different Charge 5 speakers and I couldn't get nowhere near those 20 hours advertised even at 10% volume... And I saw a lot of complains reporting battery problems in general with JBL speakers. Now I must struggle to sell this Charge 5 junk and return to the all-trusty Sony speakers.

@@EdwardSchwartz27 Xtreme 3 battery is good but the charge 5 is pretty bad. You just need a powerbank for the charge 5 if you want to play it for longer. They still sound better than other speakers including sony
Best value seems to be owning to charge 5 instead of the extreme 3. You get more loudness that way anyway

@@gaborkiss1425 Charge 5 is way better than the Charge 4. I have a Charge 4 and 5, and the 4 sounds muffled in comparison to the 5 when you play metal and rock.

Oh wow. It's actually a big difference on the charge 5. When it was new is sounded not good. Now it's a lot better. But i'm still sticking with my extreme 2.

I heard an xtreme 3 in the store and the sound was amazing. However it was pretty large, I wanted something I can take with me in the van, and be portable, also in the bottle holder section of a backpack, I hadn’t heard the charge in store as they didn’t have one. I opted for the charge 5, but now I don’t know if I will regret it? I know the xtreme 3 will have more base and clarity, I’m;over the sound of it, but Imthink it may be too big for my needs?
How do you like the charge 5?
@@caliba100 honestly, it really impressed me. The sound was way clearer and more crisp than i expected, the treble is also not harsh. Bass wise with the update a little eqing and it sounds more full, but only up to 50%, then the bass tapers off and won’t go any louder. Battery life is amazing, I’ve had it on full blast for several hours on an evening out and when I got back, I’ve only lost one bar! Charge feature to top up your phone is nice but its slow whilst playing music. Overall feel and build quality is nice, and the sound is great up to normal listening levels, say 50-60% volume. Over that it will fill a large space or room pretty well, but lack of bass at high volume lets it down. I think its a great travel companion, and fits in bottle pockets in my backpacks, bottle holders in the door of the van, and so on. I’m still looking at an xtreme 3 as I can party boost, and then also use that if I want more volume and more bass, for the days out or situations where I have the ability to carry more / the available space.

I’m really disappointed that we only got 100 percent volume comparison, we know beyond 80 percent only mids and highs get louder
I have both. Xtreem 3 is by far the winner. In Χtreem 3 you feel that the sound has more bass and "3D" volume with strong and clean sound without tiring your ears.
I like to listening punk, thrash, hard rock, metal ,death metal to this.
With an app equalizer is "turbo" portable orgasm. The only problem is the price 329€ in europe.
But the price is way expensive

Может кому-то будет полезно, по поводу что лучше, решил я вообщем купить себе новую колонку, была у меня до этого чардж 3, посмотрел что есть в магазине, и увидел что самое новое это чардж 5, не думая купил себе чёрную сборка tl, послушал не несколько дней и мне показалось что маловато Бассов как для меня, начал смотрел видео сравнения и пошёл делать возврат, покупая экстрим 3, купил, пришёл домой, послушал ее два дня, и каждый раз у меня возникало сомнение, что то не так, ну вот не то, да бассы сильнее, но они какие-то не такие, они не дополняют музыку, они просто где-то бубнят, высокие частоты кричат отдельно, низкие отдельно. Я начал думать что бы вернуть экстрим 3 и взять снова чардж 5, т.к. в чардж 5 реально звук по качеству лучше, в ней все сбалансировано как то, получаешь кайф от музыки, да экстрим 3 мощнее, но каждый динамик играет сам по себе. В итоге сделал я возврат и покупая чардж 5 снова, увидел в наличии зелёный цвет сборка nd, взял ее, ребята я очень доволен теперь. Звук в nd сборке мне больше понравился, чем в tl, очень приятный басс, на эквалайзере, в приложении jbl, я поднял бассы на верх, все остальное посередине. Я прям очень рад что попробовал и экстрим и чардж и выбрал то, что как по мне самый лучший вариант. Бассы крутые, звук очень сбалансирован, для любого стиля. Nd сборка реально лучше tl. Надеюсь для кого то мой комментарий будет полезен сьекономит вам хорошую сумму денег и поможет определится с выбором.
These are both really good speakers and both sound good. The JBL Xtreme sounds more louder and clear, clear because it has 2 tweeters and it is a 50 watt speaker. The Charge 5 is really good as well though but it doesn’t sound as clear and as loud as the Xtreme 3 because it only has one tweeter and is a 40 watt instead of 50 watt. I have the JBL Xtreme 3 and it sounds really good and clear in sound and goes really loud especially in LFM. I’m probably going to get the Charge 5 when it comes out in my country which is Australia.
Is the xtreme 3 good on low volume and with songs that don’t have a lot of bass?
@@AB-qi6lu No, it does not have loudness funktion, so it sounds rather flat and small.
@@AB-qi6lu xtreme 3 has no base, even with equalizers. Bought a similar speaker for 100. Not only was it louder, it had more base. It was just a lil heavier.

Its alot louder, almost just as waterproof, huge battery, card slot, different modes, can link more than 1, and did i mention it was $115. I wish this guy would review it.

@dlxwillington twas a good comparison n an obvious result. I was waiting for this but I already got d x3. U didn't compare at 40 n 60% volume. My x3 feels funny at 40%. Sounds too low for my liking. I usually play it at 60 to 80% b4 I really enjoy it. But when I had d charge 4 I always played it at abt 40%. Have u noticed that or is it just mine? Or my expectations were too high?
I have the flip 5 and charge 4. I love the sound of the flip5 at low volume, It beats off way better than the charge 4. Basically like your comparison of your X3 and C4.
That's right! I have both speakers and actually the volume is below 60%, the Xtreme 3 has deep bass but the mid and treble are not as good as the Charge 5. Above 60% Xtreme 3 starts to thin the bass but the mid and treble is noticeably louder than the Charge 5.

Had the JBL Charge 4. Battery lasts all day as it’s supposed to. I use it every day, all day, at full volume. After 3 years it’s starting to die after a few hours. About a week ago, I went ahead and purchased the JBL Charge 5 and is dying at right around 4 hours. That does not work for me at all. Maybe I should take it back and get another Charge 5 (in case I just got a lemon) or upgrade to the Xtreme 3. Opinions?

A problem is that JBL always have different serial numbers so all charge 5's won't look the same

Anybody has some experience with using Charge 5 and extreme 3 with party boost - does it work ok considering they are rated at different power?
Works fine, But when you are using wifi sometimes it bugs, yhe power ratings doesnt matter,Boombox 3 connects to flip 6 fine, Connection problems are the issue, The connection when you use wifi at ghe same time in your phone gets messy

Even if you have 2 Charge 5, your bass is still not deep enough but it will still be acceptable if you don't ask too much about bass depth. Honestly, the Charge 5 bass sounds good enough and the Charge 5 mid and treble at 60-70% volume is also clearer and louder than the Xtreme 3, but that's only at 60-70%. from below 60% bass of Xtreme 3 is deeper, mid and treb are not as clear and loud as Charge 5 but above 60% mid and treb are really louder but the bass is thinner. I still recommend you go to the store to listen because really the difference is not much, but when you focus on the feeling, you will see it more clearly.
@ThanhNguyen-oo4cj place two charge 5s in the corner of the opposite side of the room and your base is dramatically increased, you have a wide sound stage and it balances out the over powering mids and highs.
At that point there is literally nothing the xtreme 3 does better

In stores near me every single JBL speaker is always on a big discount except for the charge so actually that’s the worst value where I live. The flip is like $100 but you have to go for double that to $200, the XTREME however is less than $300 and the Partybox 100 is almost exactly $300 meaning that if you don’t go for a flip you might as well get a Partybox

The JBL boombox 3 is the best out of the line up. It has better bass than the party box 110 and 310.
