Just to clarify: a year after he tore his ACL, Peterson ran for 2000 yards in the next season. This is a huge statistical feat for a runningback that less than 10 men EVER have accomplished. And AP Did it after a torn knee. Greatest runningback of all time in my opinion. Adrian ‘All Day’ Peterson.

I am a lifelong vikings fan and i can tell you as great as adrian peterson is there is someone that was even better and that man is barry sanders.

sycho sid there is no denying Barry Sanders greatness. if only he had the longevity of Peterson. I just have respect for how long Peterson has been able to be a ground and pound, classic runningback, even at age 35. and his injury history. but barry sanders is probably a more dynamic and gamebreaking runningback, overall. both amazing talents.

Things I have to say about AP:
    1. In his prime, he’s the greatest runningback ever.
    2. He was 9 yards short of Eric Dickersons record. He would have broke it by like 100 yards if he weren’t on a snap count to start the year.
    3. I have never seen a runningback so big, strong, tough, violent, and aggressive, yet so fast agile and elusive.
    4. Skol Vikings

In his prime, he's the best I've ever seen. I watched all of Barry Sanders and Emmit Smiths careers. I'm in love with both their bodies of work. AP, All Day, Adrian Peterson, was the best I've ever seen to lace up the pads in the backfield. Edit: guys/gals, he was so fucking good that it never did make sense. So good.

I am in St Louis I watched all the same guys. Got to watch Caulk first hand live quite a bit. He was amazing all around unreal hands on and on.
But I have never seen someone run w that kind of explosion, violence. Passion. He honestly does not look real. He runs like a create a player on the old college football games when I 3as in college. I thought I would be able to keep my homer bias but that man was something else!

Yes! Finally! There are a lot of reasons to like Adrian Peterson as a player, but for me there is a little bit of a personal connection. My brother played football in high school and his junior year he had an injury almost as bad as Peterson when his leg was sandwiched between two players. Every ligament in his knee was either torn or had some sort of damage. My brother was able to rehab and was able to play some of his senior year. He went on to try and play Division 3 football before he reaggravated his knee and that was the end of my brother's playing days. I saw how hard my brother worked to try and get back to playing and it wasn't enough.
So for Adrian Peterson to comeback from a similar injury a year later and end up only 9 yards short of setting the record for most rushing yards in a season, lead the Vikings to the playoffs and win NFL MVP is beyond remarkable. It is one of the most astounding achievements in sports history.

Early! But actually watched the video first lol.
That comeback was CRAZY. Keeping in mind Running Back is the most physical position on the field as far as taking hits and impacts. On top of that he was one of the most physical running backs in recent history, he often would go at the tackler to create the impact himself, instead of avoiding it like most Running Backs (understandably) do.

As someone from the DC area, it has been a real pleasure watching him play for the Washington Football Team. He's lost a step or two, but he's still so powerful, and if we had a competent team around him, he'd still be dominant.

  • @db_41000
    @db_41000 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

I saw a comment about the name change for the Washington team. My favorite would be the Red Wolves.
    1. The name could potentially bring awareness to the red wolf, which is on the endangered species list in the U.S., as well as being native to the southeastern part of the U.S.
    2. It also has significance with the military as well. The Helicopter Sea Combat Squadron 84 (commonly referred to as HSC-84) and also nicknamed the "Red Wolves" was one of two squadrons in the U.S. Navy that was dedicated to supporting the Navy SEALs, being active in service from 1976 to 2016. (It’s also worth noting that the team’s coach, Ron Rivera also wants the new name to be military themed)
Also what made Adrian Peterson’s season after his injury special was that the Vikings were horrible the year going 3-13 (as a Vikings fan I remember it all too well) then the year he came back they went 10-6 and got into the playoffs.

    • @CourtneyCoulston

Dude was a beast in his prime (college and pre-injury pro years). Of course, he played collegiately for Oklahoma (I'm a Texas fan, their arch-rivals) and in the pros for the Minnesota Vikings (I'm a Green Bay Packers fan, one of their arch-rivals!!) His comeback was inspiring, but he's never really been the same since the injury.

Peterson is playing for the Detroit Lions this season. He is close to moving into the 3rd place in all-time yards rushing in NFL history.
So he owns the record for Most Rushing Yards in a single game. (296). You saw that on his injury comeback season, he was only 9 yards away from breaking the All-Time Single Season Yards rushing record, his (2,097) yards to Eric Dickerson's (2,105). He's an absolute beast.

As someone who lives in Minnesota, that season was ridiculous. I've seen a lot of good and great running backs but there will never be another Adrian Peterson. He had everything...height, weight, strength, speed, agility...the guy was a physical specimen. Rushing for 2000 yards, something fewer than 10 players have EVER done, after tearing your ACL AND MCL is a testament to his freak physical characteristics.

He is my favorite rb player sadly my NFL team change there name. Been a fan of my redskins since 1994. Cried and felt joy with my skins. R.i.p redskins. Now i am a fan of our number one rivals, the Dallas cowboys. So i wont root for A.P anymore. Wish him the best.
