That last game against the packers was crazy. The Vikings hoping to get Adrian over the record, Adrian looking to get the Vikings into the playoffs, and the Packers looking to keep us out and get better seeding for the playoffs. On top of all that the Vikings and Packers are fierce rival teams. Both always play their absolute best when they face off. One of them can be having a trash season while the other is doing great and it will almost always be a tight game. And the best part is after the game they interviewed him asking about his feelings about coming up 9 yards shy and his reply was, “9 yards? 9 yards from what? The record??” It wasn’t even on his mind. A true team player. He wasn’t thinking about himself or the record. He was focused on the team and winning
Peterson came up 9 yards short of breaking the record that year. What he did in coming back though was remarkable. He's a special player who is still playing fairly effectively at an age when most running backs are long done. (Running Backs have by FAR the shortest careers of any position due to the multiple hits they take on every carry.)
AP got disrespected in Minnesota. An Iconic/generational superstar that came back even better from an acl year. It's no longer a career ending injury to athletes. Absolutely the most exciting player I had pleasure of rooting for as a 20year Viking's fan. Something about watching a great RB run is so incredible to watch; the vision, split second decision making, patience, burst, power, finesse. It just seems inhuman at times and AP was the best I've seen since I've been watching football. If he played in Dallas/Houston they'd have a statue of him
I wish the big heads for the Vikings get over themselves and rehire A.P. so he can finish his career with his "home team". A.P. wants it and the fans want it too. I mean, they literally nicknamed the stadium "The House that Peterson built". Granted our old Metrodome's ceiling collapsed due to snow. But the attendance while he was on our team, was crazy!
They weren't really hating on him. Recovering at that level that quickly was unheard of. Most people at that time would lose a step or reinjure themselves coming back that soon.

Some guys have highlight reel that make them look better than they actually are. AP's career is a highlight reel. He's a legit legend.
