Hahah the kingie whistle comes with consequences.. hopeless at catching anything else ahaha! Mate Looking at my videos there released& not released I always have success on the bottom of the tide > coinciding with morning or evening. Thanks for the support!
100% my dude, I went the other day in the rain and got a BIG reward. So don't let that deter you. I just feel for all the families dealing with flooding :( Thank you mate, tight lines and thank you for the support.
@@FishingwithMarkiMark Definitely will have to give another rainy session a try. The itch needs to be scratched haha. Hope you got footage of that big reward, love to see what you caught mate!
Thanks for watching my dude, appreciate the love! 100% can't go wrong when the swells up.. nice inshore bash :D Got something saucy from there recently > i'll edit that soon :)
Nice meeting you at the wharf this morning mate! Would you mind me asking one quick question? At the wharf were you fishing your livies on the bottom, unweighted, or under a float? Thanks for any help mate!
Heyyyy man, likewise hey! I was throwing livies out on a jewfish style rig. We use it also for catching Kingfish just with a longer leader. Its essentially, a star sinker that's attached to an blue ezi clip rig, then 1.5m of leader to a 4/0 hook. I used this method due to the rains we have been having, as salt water is more dense so the fish would be sitting deeper in the column. I like to use 1.5m leader to keep the yakka sitting a bit higher than total bottom > in Kingfish territory. Pleasure mate, tight lines :)
@@FishingwithMarkiMark Thanks for the detailed answer mate much appreciated. I ended up getting my first kingy there yesterday. I had a live yakka out but ended up catching it on my eging rod with a soft plastic.
Hey mate what's that specific lure called that you're using? I've fished there a few times but normally fish down south off the rocks. Would be awesome to go for a fish with ya one day mate 🤙
Hey mate, thanks for the kind words & dropping by the channel. It's called Duo Drag Metal Cast Slim 40g. However check out the Nomad Gypsy Jigs, medium fall rate & you don't have to upgrade the hooks or assists, ready to go out the packet with BKK terminal! Very cool man, most definitely.. sure ill see you out there soon :)
This day last year mate! Just want to know what lure you used here mate? Also, the tide, and this morning? Planning to go same spot this weekend. Subbed!
Wow doesn't time fly. I used nomad buffalo jigs 40g and duo drag cast metal in the 40g. Yup morning. Tide i think was half way through the low :) Thanks for the sub
@@FishingwithMarkiMark Just had a look at the Coltsniper BB 9'6''. What is the min-max braid breaking strain that the PE3 version would be suitable for?
Thanks for the kind words, good little zone when my backs been playing up. Can always count on a king or two. Mate in short; you have like 3 fall rates on jigs - slow, medium, fast. All vary in terms of the depth your fishing and how much hang time you want in a particular water column to catch the species your after. I just tell people to work it like a soft plastic, just hopping it along consistently then having a pause and letting it sink to your desired depth (jigging = rod up/down and crank of your reel).
Hi mate. Another great video. I've got a couple of the those lures but have not had much success with them. What do you find is the best retrieve action with them? And do you let them hit the bottom before starting the action? Any advice greatly appreciated. Cheers
Hey mate, just the typical jigging action. Up / down with your rod an a crank of the reel whilst doing so. Takes a while to get used to it but you'll cover a big part of the water column. Vary up the speed in accordance on how active the fish are! Hope that helps.. if they have a single on the back or treble can also work them as a metal - just retrieve :)
Nice mate! First time watcher, great vid 🤙 Haven't seen a kingy caught off the beach before! Will any beach in Botany work or does your spot have specific structure?
Hey man, honestly I've caught them the mouth of the cooks to sylvania. They love to press their bait to shore and attack. They almost beach themselves doing so. Definitely head out and give it a crack, there are some places that the current flows a little more faster, if you can find those on the beach youll be in for a treat. Thanks for watching!

Hey Mark, Just wondering what size was the sugarpen? 70 or 90mm
Hey mate will a 6-12kg rod handle some kingfish with a 5000 sized reel?
Definitely will, if they play nice & you steer them away from structure. Its all very situational mate :) tight structure you may struggle.

What do you think of the Saltist BW and Penn Prevail II rods for beginner shore jigging/casting for kingfish? Im looking at the 9' - 9'6'' versions.
Hey man, for the money check out the Shimano ColtSniper BB or LOX Shoregame both around the 9"6ish. Great bang for buck rods!
