    Sir - That was a PERFECT example of how to explain disassembly. Excellent camera work, clear speaking, no extraneous talking. All youtube DIY video producers should use your style and delivery as a guide.

    Thank you guys for putting this together!
    Career auto worker of 22 years; first time appliance repair. I really needed something like this to walk me through the steps and construction. The camera work and narration were spot on. I will purchase my parts from you guys once I have this figured out. ❤️ 🍻

    Very informative video. I simply needed to take out the front panel so I could more easily get rid of who knows how many years of lint that had made it past the filter and settled on the intake of the blower motor. I put it back together and just ran a load to dry, so far so good - I was half worried I would reassemble it the "wrong way" but watching this video and just doing the disassembly in reverse helped a lot.

    Very impressed with the quality of the content on this disassembly video. Great inside shot of the idler assembly. Really well done, and informative otherwise as well. I'll order parts from you guys as soon as I get it diagnosed.

    Excellent video. My son left a homemade bracelet in his pocket and it exploded in the dryer. Beads all over in the lint filtration area. Dryer started making a terrible noise. I appreciate this video very much

    Thanks to this, I was able to take apart my dryer and discover the cause of the horrible grinding squeaks it's been making: three missing drum glides!

    Here's a pro tip from AlaskaErik. Not all GE dryers disassemble this way. Mine is a regular front loader that I bought in 2015. To disassemble mine, I have to remove two screws from the back and slide the control panel back and then rotate it forward. Then I have to remove the five screws holding the control panel access panel located in the rear of the control panel. Then I have to remove all the wiring hooked up to the various switches so the control panel can be removed and placed aside. Once that's done, then I can remove the two screws located above the front door opening, as well as two screws located at the back, so that the the top panel can be removed. After that, it's the same as in the video. It seems GE was bound and determined to make owner/user repairs much more complicated than they need to be. It's a safe bet they want to call the GE service technician. So far, on my dryer, I've had to replace the igniter and the drum bearing assembly. Those two service calls would have probably cost me $500 to $600 total. I didn't pay much more than that for the dryer to begin with. For something that's had an easy life with maybe 1000 to 1500 cycles, that's not a very good record. My last GE dryer that I bought, in 1991, was still going strong when I sold the house in 2006
    But here's the best pro tip. More than likely, once you remove the back cover of the control panel, you'll find disassembly instructions and a schematic taped to the back of that back panel. You can also remove that panel first, even though that's not how GE sequences the disassembly process, in order to get that instruction sheet.

      Thanks for the additional info. Lord knows they'll make it as complicated as they can...

      @packrat76 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I wouldn't start unplugging everything from the switches unless you mark it all. Especially if you have a dryer with all the bells and whistles, more dials, more wires with terminal connections.

    Isn't it possible to access the thermostats and safety cutoff from the rear, without removing the drum?
    I have seen these fail very often , and on dryers I have fixed these are easily accessible by removing the rear panel.

    Hello. Thanks a lot for this video. I want ask You something: I have a GE Gas Dryer and when it's hot stops by itself, then a few minutes later I turn it on again and it works for around 10 or 12 minutes an stops again. May You give an idea what could be the problem? Good Night.

    My GE dryer didn’t work for one week, so I just found this video on TH-cam and disassembled the machine following the steps. It’s incredible useful! And I found the problem of my dryer is the belt has been broken. Now my question is how I should choose the replacement belt if I can’t find the machine model😂

      On mine, you can see the label once you open the door. Otherwise, it may be on a sheet behind the control panel

    These newer dryers come apart a little differently than the old ones. Not as easily serviced as my old Whirlpool with a rear panel easily removed for access to element and various components. The concept of how it works is the same but the design of the components, the heating element especially is laid out much differently. Thanks. 👍

    I have had my GE dryer since around 1998 or 99 but different model and worked perfectly up until a month ago, it suddenly started making a squeaking/scratching noise and can’t figure out where it’s coming from but sounds like it’s coming from the side.
