      I think the women there are absolutely gorgeous! What makes them attractive besides obviously the beauty is the respect they show their elders etc. You just don't see that in the U.S. Most women here won't even speak let alone are so respectful. I'm generalizing of course but it really is true.

    It costs around 1500usd to study in a language school for a month in Cebu. Including accommodation, 3 meals a day, group classes and one on one classes from morning to evening. You can make a big progress . That’s why East Asians study English in the Philippines like Japanese Korean Taiwanese and Chinese.

    Most of our Asian neighbors just come here to study English language (Japanese,Koreans, Taiwanese, Chinese, Thai) and some medical courses (Indians, Nepali, Iranians).
    Philippines should invest more on this sector to attract more foreign students coming to the archipelago.

    I did my undergrad at the University of Indiana. I wanted to do further education at Notre Dame but I couldn’t afford it. They wanted $60,000 US per year. So I talked to the Navy recruiting office and they agreed to pay my university costs at Notre Dame if I gave the Navy 4 years. So at the U.S. Navy’s expense, I completed my Masters and PHD at Notre Dame. I then entered the Navy and completed 4 years service. In the Navy, I worked in the area of hospital health care administration. I was 30 when I left the Navy and walked straight into a hospital CEO job in Chicago. From there I spent 25 years working as a hospital CEO and President in places like India, Hong Kong, Bangkok (2 different stints over 6 years), Manila (2 years) and Phnom Penh. I finished up my career in Dubai and retired from there in September 2022 (my Filipino girlfriend Sheila is still there as she works as a police officer there and has done so for 6 years). My next hospital posting after Chicago was in 2008 to a hospital in Cambodia. I was offered Jersey City and Cambodia. When I arrived in Cambodia in 2008, there was only 4 paved roads. Somehow in the late 1990’s, I also first visited Cambodia. At that time there were only 2 paved roads. I spent one year there then. Also, somehow despite being in Cambodia, I still managed in the 6 years up to 2010 to work as hospital CEO and President at a hospital in Bangkok (before transferring to Hua Hin). I earned $500,000 US for this and my apartment was 1,200 square feet and only cost $300 which my employer paid for. I get confused about this but the hospital had between 16,000 and 100,000 employees. Between 2008 and 2010, there was political unrest between the redshirts and the yellowshirts. Supporters of the military blocked access to the hospital and demanded money from people trying to enter the hospital. I arranged that over $1,000,000 was paid to allow people to enter the hospital. Then a reporter from the Bangkok Post came to see me. I expressed my frustrations to them. Then the next day, I was featured in a front page article in the Bangkok Post. As a result of this I was arrested and taken to jail. I had never had so much as a parking ticket before this. I was initially put into a cell with about 40 others. I still don’t mind pooping in a bucket because of this experience. I was then put in a cell with a notorious Russian arms dealer, Viktor Bout (even though I know him personally, I pronounce his name as ‘bowt’ when everyone else, including him, pronounces it ‘boot’). Viktor is known as the Merchant of Death. I spent 21 or 22 days total in the Thai prison and in that time I went from weighing 240 pounds to 182 pounds. I wouldn’t have minded the diet of rice and cucumber soup but I hate cucumbers. The US Government then arranged my release and a one-day visa for Cambodia. After travelling from Survarnabhumi to Phnom Penh, I returned to the US where the first thing I did was eat some Taco Bell. The Thai government blacklisted me from visiting Thailand but this was lifted after several years and I have returned several times since. After my Taco Bell, I didn’t stay long in the US as I had a hospital CEO placement at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Hong Kong. I was in Hong Kong from 2010 to 2012. I had a car there but could only drive it to work on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays due to the vehicle having red registration plates. I had to catch public transport the other days. Parking fees were more per month than my condo cost me when I lived in Dumaguete. I get a bit confused but when I lived in Hong Kong, I either had a 250 square foot, 1 bedroom apartment which cost $4,000 US per month or a 376 square foot, 1 bedroom apartment which cost $3,000 per month. During the 2012 to 2022 year period, I worked in the other places I have earlier mentioned. I also visited mainland China on and off for 6 years. In 2021, I spent 9 months in Cambodia, 2 in Phnom Penh and 7 in Siem Reap. I bought a Honda CRV when I was there which I had to get the windows tinted to the darkest tint as I kept getting targeted in a made up offence scam by the corrupt Cambodian Police. My fluent Khmer was of no use when trying to get out of paying the police fines. I only lost a few hundred bucks when I sold that Honda. I still have a car stashed away in Dumaguete which I will have to deal with upon my return to the Philippines.on or about 15 February 2024.

    These other Asians frim different countries gave some good answers Alex. They seem to enjoy the people weather it's cool to see them. I'm in Manila tomorrow is my last day here I came here for one of my cousins weddings and I tell you Alex it was exhausting so exhausting a lot of waiting around prepairing doing nothing but waiting more so all the events like the church wedding was in the afternoon and then the reception a lot of people and noise and the second day a garden wedding in Tagaytay same time 4 in the afternoon oh it was up in the mountains and the wind was cold I know that maybe I shuld be used to Cold weather because I"m from Canada to Alex but I haven't been there in years so yeah I had to find some place to stay warm the second reception I just tried to sleep and block out all the noise. I think my cousins second wedding reception was from like 8:00 PM to 3:00 AM so much food dancing and music too much and too long for me but my cousin did book us a private hotel for me my mom and some of my family memebers about just 8 of us in total called hillcreek residences I think is the name of the place here in Manila so it was nice we all had rooms close together and I had 2 days to use the gym and relieve all my stress and boredom. I don't know If I'll ever attend another of my cousins weddings agian Alex I mean I love my cousins and they are more deserving of getting married and I wish them all the best but unless they plan to stay at a hotel for their wedding guests to stay near a mall where I can just chill relax watch movies and shop for things. Which one of my cousins had back in 2019 near the Sheraton in Cebu where SM City was within walking distance you know the place I'm talking about I don't think I want to go. So yeah my cousins wedding has also made me realize that maybe staying single and not mingle is better LOL. Take care Alex I'll watch your other videos when I can take care 👍👍

    I think Livingabroardalex doesn't have idea how pacific Asians look at each other .. asking East Asians their thoughts about Philippines is the most awkward thing to do since these people doesn't like Philippines that much and only visiting Philippines to study English.. majority of these positive answers are obviously sugarcoated especially the answers of these Koreans .. these people usually come to the Philippines with prejudice and prejudgment in their minds towards Filipinos, so you barely see them interacting with locals ..

    • @Livingabroadalex
      @Livingabroadalex  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Apparently not. I love how people like to feel offended for other people. Not everyone is like you, my guy. If people act awkward around you, maybe it's a YOU problem. Since all I see is people smiling, laughing, and giving their answers, even with limited English speaking ability. Maybe you should consider watching another channel.

      I bet you never interacted with Koreans ever in your life .. I have so many experiences with Japanese Korean and Chinese and Taiwanese.. and these east Asian races are racist towards Philippines and Filipinos.. but since I'm from Cebu and Cebu Is the top destinations for Korean tourists visiting Philippines, i managed to understand their character and attitude by just observing their gesture when they interact with locals .. and they are not friendly to locals ... unlike Western tourists .. and don't take it from me, you can ask locals in Cebu especially vendors , what are their thoughts about Korean tourists .. and you will be surprised with their answers .. my suggestion stop watching Kpop and see them as human not gods or idols ..

    • @user-ty7se7ns9y
      @user-ty7se7ns9y 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      @@ljbunso4450As a Chinese, what you said is partly correct, but East Asians, including Japanese, Chinese, and Korean, are not racist. There is a phenomenon in the East Asian cultural circle of "disdaining poverty and loving wealth". They look down on the poor, and the same goes for them in their own country. Socialization and marriage are hierarchical, and they do not like socializing with people who are poorer than themselves.

    • @MRGC808
      @MRGC808 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@ljbunso4450I understand what you mean. Only the young generations tend to look down on us Filipinos because they're not aware of our contributions to their country during the Korean Civil War in1953.
      They think our country is so poor and so many Filipinos leave our country to work overseas as domestic helpers and skilled laborers creating such pathetic impressions to the world

    • @yo2trader539
      @yo2trader539 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      He's not from East Asia nor is he fluent in East Asian languages, so he wouldn't understand what you're hinting. The Filipinos who've studied/worked in East Asia will be able to paint a better picture. However, the East Asians who choose the Philippines for vacationing or studying languages already have certain expectations. The ones who have negative opinions or people with financial means would choose different locations, so there is a natural selection bias in conducting interviews in the Philippines.
      My main concern would be the crime and drugs. Organized crime from every country is there. ("SHABU" commonly used in the Philippines is a Japanese word for the drug, which should indicate how much underground ties there are. It's been a safe haven for criminals for decades.)Too many kidnapping, murder for money, shootings, robbery, and crime have tainted the image of Philippines.

I also have been to Thailand and auto Thai foods internationally known as being a really good food I really wasn't that impressed with Thailand food. @fym216 That's the thing. I'm not in Canada. And since you've been a long-time viewer, then you know I always ask pples age, unless they are obviously older
      There are a few reasons. Age allows the viewer to have a better understanding of the interviewees' perspective.
      Also, it ensures they're over 18 years old
      And lastly, in Asian, asking someone their age isn't rude.

    On the other hand, English in the Philippine is still substandard and they definitely aren’t native-English speakers. I’ve been here nine years and in many parts of the country, especially Luzon, the English is laced with Tagalog grammar. For example, someone said to me the other day "The cousin of Warren is looking for you." At first, I thought huh? Then I got it. I said you mean, "Warren's cousin?" Other times it’s a bit harder to decipher, sometimes impossible. Since Tagalog is gender-neutral, no he or she, many times I’ve been called a she. There’s also a lot of double negatives here. Every day I hear things like “more better.” Ok, yeah, it’s just better. Using “anyways,” instead of “anyway.” Just pointing out what’s obvious to us that are native English speakers here. However, English proficiency in Cebu is much better for the most part. It’s ok too, at least in parts of Mindanao. Albeit, to people in places like Japan or South Korea with scant English skills then of course when they hear Filipinos speak English, they think it’s wonderful.

    • @josephgarcia2542
      @josephgarcia2542 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      But if you compare our English oral proficiency than Cambodia, Thailand, Vietnam or Burma , we are far better in general and among the locals, in those countries, only very few speak English
