It started from an Evo crowd. The normal fighting game crowds get VERY hyped about the matches. During a snap pop (i think that is what it is called) in MvC 2 the crowds shout "oh" with the hits. It gets people hyped.
@DippNDots I know that fox has the disadvantage on FD, however on every other stage fox can use platforms to extend his combos and use lasers to force marth to approach. I know the matchup is close but the only way marth wins is if the marth is spacing incredibly well and if they don't miss combos. If there was more than one stage with no platforms I think the matchup might be more even

@RadicallyDreaming Reasons why its even for marth, a grab is very devastating, even on a level with platforms, marth can poke his sword through all side platforms, excluding dreamland(only one stage). Marth can gimp fox at any percent, can combo him into KO moves at reasonable percents, and has easy edge guard KOs. Frankly, they can kill each other just as hard as each other. The match up revolves around reads and pushing the advantage as much as you can each time you get it, without fucking up.
M2K is a bit modest about his reaction skills. He told me his reaction is average and that he mainly succeeds based on experience, but in this match his perfect reaction dominated. Replay some of those chaingrabs, and you'll find he judged Shiz' DI very quickly in this match. There were a few points I honestly could not tell that Shiz would land behind M2K, but M2K saw it in an instant. CGing on FD are all over youtube, but you'll find in this one the Marth prolongs it with great reading.

The CG damage on the first stock was inconsequential, Shiz's predictable recovery was the bigger factor on that and his fourth stock and if even that had been different the match would likely have been much closer. The CG really took its toll on the second stock, but even then Shiz lived to ~160%, arguably because it's FD and Marth. It's a tough matchup for sure, but Fox has the ability to overcome.
@BrosConde On corneria the fox can camp using lasers (because it's such a huge stage) and use the low ceiling on the wing to get easy upsmash/ up throw up air kills. The only way marth beats fox is if you outspace and outplay the fox, yes you have a slight advantage in terms of combos on FD but not that much and all a fox has to do is ban FD and it takes it out of the question.
the last match was probably the best match of the tournament but this match was epic on how m2k came out aggressive from the start.. THE FINAL BOSS lol
on that 1st stock, m2k jumped into the grand canyon to upb shiz; the last stock, he jumped into an abyss or something for the dair; these 2 better be going to Genesis...
@BrosConde Fox has a significant advantage on Corneria, but Corneria isn't legal anymore. This is good for Marth players, although Fox still has a significant advantage on all counterpicks.
@DippNDots And here's why it ultimately favors Fox, if only by a little: if Fox really wants to, he can camp Marth really hard and force him to approach. I've been camped by Foxes in tournament before. It definitely puts him at the advantage and there's not much Marth can do besides play better.

@SharinganM21 thats how you play against fox with marth dude, unless you wanna get dair'd to waveshined to shinespiked all day. most (if not all) of marths moves have lag that fox can easily punish if you miss, grabs to Utilt to (instert move(s) of choice here) is pretty much the only safe option
The balance is still good, like I said the CG is NOT insurmountable. We notice M2K beasting with the CG in this vid but we also should note that Shiz was keeping up decently well in spite of it. Poor recovery leading to low % deaths and lots of extra damage was just as big a factor. With proper play he could easily win here. lol This match and Brawl, THAT my friend is a scary comparison.

Also this matchup on FD is not unwinnable for Fox, this chaingrab is not an automatic win, Mew2king really is that good. But even if you don't feel comfortable taking Marth here, there are character counterpicks, stage counterpicks, and stage striking to insure that you avoid this situation. There is nothing here that can't be overcome.
he got two stocked in this round. that doesn't sound like he was keeping up with him at all. the CG and the Marth on FD against a good player is a big disadvantage. the next match was awesome tho.

You cannot do an infinite amount with this chaingrab, M2K didn't just stop CGing him because he got bored lol. Plus this CG only works on Fox/Falco and only on this stage for any decent period of time, and dear Lord it is way harder to grab a good Falco than M2K makes it look. It's because M2K is so good that he was able to CG in the first place. This is not exactly an imbalanced situation. I'll agree that the world is bad and has no values but I don't think it applies here.

That last kill was pure epicness. This stuff is insane, and my respect for M2K has gone up a LOT.
Also, the next match was DEFINITELY awesome, this is an amazing set and I'm glad I recently came back to watch it for no reason.

@Blueforce707 Ken was the best in like...2006. M2K dominated the smash world for several years after that up until the reign of Mango started.
@darksyde3000 M2K didn't dominate several years after Ken retired. He dominated 2007 and a little of 2008 up until Pound 3.
