My fan has been sounding insanely weird lately. so I took upon myself to try this out. havent gave it a go. but this is exactly what i need to do. hoping i dont mess it up. should have the parts by the end of the week i will let you know how it goes!
Glad the video was helpful, how did it go? Often it can be a dry bearing, or sometimes a bit of plastic or grit can get inside the chassis and into the fan.
@@BrueComputing No idea what was making the sound. BUT I got it done today actually and the sound is gone. Thank you for the help!! Also took no less then like 5 min. honestly was really nervous about the paste. but i kinda just did my best. did my best to replicate what you had going!
It looked like the previous paste was overapplied. Like that was quite a lot of paste. Also I was wondering could the ptm7950 also work with this instead of the pastes ?
Hi, I'm using a Dell inspiron 15 3511. Do you know which is the original thermal paste used for this model? (liquid metal-based, silicon-based, ceramic-based, etc.. Thanks you so much
Hello, Thank you for this video. Could you perhaps say what is the normal average temp with stock thermal paste, and if replacing it made any difference? I got a new dell, this very model, and it seems to run too hot at basically no load for my taste, was wondering is you could provide some temp info? Thanks
Why does this laptop not have any intake ventilation for the fan? Edit: because even after replacing thermal paste with Arctic MX-4, CPU temp reaches 90
@@BrueComputing The laptop overheated from new so doubt it is clogged heatsink in this case. I have read that there is poor quality control on these laptops so wondered if the thermal paste was poor quality or not installed properly. As mentioned below I suspect it is just poor design as the feeble heatsink & fan has to cool both CPU and GPU.
@@percythomasarchitecturalvi1266 I have also the overheat issue. It's only 20 days old. But it's heat up quickly and temperature is rise up to 100 degree celsius. Are facing the same problem?
@@arcadia4087 apply thermal paste if it's old, then you should undervolt cpu , tutorials every where it's so easy, you will get difference in temperature when you undervolt 👍
I have overheating issues even after cleaning.I have this same laptop but with mx330 gpu and it has to cool both cpu and gpu with one fan and i think that is causing this issue . Do you have any solutions ?
Really a great tutorial with clear explanation and good English! Thank you very much.

Very helpful! Thanks!
Glad it was helpful!
I have the 11th gen i5 with 16 gigs of DDR4 and it's wonderful!
After I cleaned the fan and replaced the thermal paste my laptop won’t turn on anymore, it doesn’t even indicate that it’s charging
Did you disconnect anything else in the process? That shouldn't prevent the laptop turning on unless you statically damaged the board.
Same problem did you ever find a solution?
You only need to remove the Ram and places it again

Not sure, but you don't need to replace it like for like, just use a good quality paste.

its supposed to run at abt 60 to 70 degrees celscius when idle or browsing the web
Great Tutorial. :)
Thanks!
Is the heatsink aluminum on the processor?

It draws air in through the slots in the base.
@@BrueComputing but those are covered on the inside by a black paper like thing
@@BrueComputing also, the ventilation cutout at the bottom dont even line up with the fan. The fan is choked by the base plastic.
@@BornStranger did you try to remove these plastic piece? Also you should undervolt cpu if you didn't get result from cleaning, thermal paste
Have you noticed an improvement from replacing the thermal paste? Wondering if it is worth trying on my overheating Dell 3551..
Most common issue is a clogged heatsink full of dust - worth stripping it down, cleaning out and replacing the thermal paste.
