Hi Matt I'm taking my maintenance and crosscutting with assessment in November. I'm self employed so I'm adding this to my offering of jobs. On completion of the first two courses I would like to be pretty forthcoming and crack on with my cs38. I was wondering could you advise me on where I can build up my confidence and experience being self employed before i then headed into cs39? I guess my question is are there legalities with climbing a tree in say a woodland or do you need permission etc. Being self-employed may be more difficult to get my experience built up. Many thanks Paul

Hi Paul thats great news! In terms of climbing I would always try and get the land owners consent before climbing trees, Many local councils are happy you climbing park trees if your qualified. Not many of us wanting to do it I think. In all fairness in terms of gaining experience many companies should be happy to offer you experience. As a self employed sub contractor there is no real risk for them. reach out to local companies and see what they say. Good luck with the journey. let me know how you get on with it all.

@@MattGlynn Thanks Matt. Since my last message I have now obtained Cs30/31 although I believe they are called 201 and 202 these days. Thanks for taking the time to respond. Thats some good advice. Thanks again :)

Hope you're well bro. How much will it cost to get fully qualified? And what are potential earning after that ?

Yeah good thanks Damian. Cost wise I would say about £1000 but fully depends on what type of qualifications you decide and the route you take. Earnings is the same it goes up with experience and the type of work/ hours you do. It varies quite a lot. Don't do it for the money is what I would say.

I wouldn't know. I'm the wrong person to ask really, I am sure someone can point you in the right direction. The ISA may be a good place to start ?
