It's a depressing shithole that was a huge tourist and local holiday destination before cheap flights were a thing. A lot of seaside towns in the UK are like this. There's just a constant feeling of dread while you're there.
It just has that really strong feeling of "this place used to be really popular but has just kinda been left rotting." It's a sad kinda hollow, sentimental feeling
I used to go to this one caravan park place every summer and I'd say that place was like that too. Idk there was just something super hollow about it especially as I got older, one trip in 2019 when I was like 11 I realised how much I actually kind of hated it and we left early and nyever went back (nyot like we could've anyway, what with the Rona the year after and my grandmother dying in 2021...)

Most fish and chip shops will now either put it in a cardboard container or will wrap it in newsprint, which is just the paper that they use to make newspapers. Some places use a food-safe novelty newspaper that is purely made for wrapping fish and chips in. You're more likely to find that in tourist destinations than just a local chippy. I think it's actually more a matter of convenience and cost that we don't use newspaper, rather than ink poisoning. You can get newsprint in bigger sheets and in bulk more easily.

You know, a few years back, my family went to Blackpool leisure beach for my brother's birthday, it was the first time he went on the big one and usely, he isn't scared by hights, but because of the view of the sea right in front of the GIANT dip, he felt very shaky and when he got off with my sister and came back to me and my mum, he began crying, it was the first time in a long time I've seen him cry, so to try and cheer him up, mum and him went on the tango ice blast while my sister and her boyfriend went on another ride, so I was by myself for a while, and while I was waiting I noticed a giant burst of water at an another ride entrance called "Valhalla", so to entertain myself I began to shout VALHALLA! As the burst of water happened, when my bro and mum came back I told them about what I was doing and they found it Hilarious which made my brother's day a little better.
