  • From Dubrovnik we started island hopping north by going to Mljet. It's a beautiful, quiet, long island a national park at one end. We wanted to stay somewhere quieter so we chose Sobra and we chose well! It's a fantastic little town close to a ferry dock.

Thanks for listing your equipment, etc. Wow! This is really beautiful footage. How long did it take to upload a 20 minute 4k video? For my AZT Thru hike in a few months I will probably shoot at 1080p. 4K is awesome, but such huge files.

This video wound up 5.6GB but fotunately we have a friend who is on one of those "try our network for one month plans" and has exceptionally fast bandwidth. I think it took less than 30 minutes to upload. Walmart's speed is great but that would have taken over an hour of walking around the store.
1080p will be fine. In fact my recent videos are also 1080p. Some thru hikers resort to 720p since it's way smaller but I think there's a more noticable quality drop going to 720p. Some computers can't even render 4k without problems so most people watch in 1080p at most anyway. I just hope the AZT is possible for spring at the rate everything is going.

Oh Jay, this looks beautiful. Are you allowed to swim in the shallows of that lake? (The fresh water one)

I’m sure the water was flowing into the lake because you happened to be there when the tide was coming in.

That's the weird thing in this area. There's hardly any tide. In fact even weirder is we were just at the channel going from the big lake to the Adriatic Sea and water was flowing out there as well. It could be rain seeping down from the neighborning mountains though then pushing out from the big lake.

@@JayWandersOut Ahh, yeah, I may have misunderstood where you were when you were remarking that the water was flowing into the lake. I was assuming that was the channel between the middle (biggest) lake and the smaller westernmost lake, and the water was flowing into the smaller lake. Sounds like I had it backwards. I did look at a tide table for Dubrovnik (closest one I could find) and yeah, wow, there really is only about a foot of tide. Way different from my place here on Puget Sound, where it’s about 18 feet from extreme high to extreme low.
