We travel with a Microsoft Surface everywhere we go. I edit my videos on it & use it to backup my pictures and vides while we travel. It’s light and the best travel laptop on the market in my opinion.

We use Sony Alpha series cameras to film our videos. They are compact so you don’t look like a super tourist when you take great pictures and videos while you travel.

We use Manfrotto Tripods. They are compact, travel well, and honestly I would not use another tripod for my nice cameras.

Travel Plug that works in pretty much any country & has four USB ports. A must for any traveler.

Want to grab some great gear? We have used Osprey Packs for years & swear by them. Check them out here
Need some clothing for your next adventure? Patagonia has some pretty good stuff for all kinds of travelers.

As a Croatian, I have to say this is a good video, the only DON'T that is not correct is the one about tipping. Tipping is not mandatory as in some other countries, especially in a certain percentage. Ofcourse you should leave a tip if you were satisfied with the service/food, it's polite and makes both parties happy. And yeah, some of us may be proud but we don't get offended easily, especially if you're a tourist...

Only partially true, meaning that it is not expected from you to tip but it's greatly apreciated since waiters dont have big salaries to begin with.
But it's not like 10% is obligated, it's more like for example if the bill is 115 kunas you round it up to 120 kunas (that's roughly one dollar tip) or if you are really happy with service or feeling generous you can round it up to 150 kunas (around 5 bucks tip) etc.
Oh and don't feel preasured to tip, you can only tip if you are satisfied with waiters service :)

Mom's spaghetti i guess you never worked in hospitality lololololol, who would work as waiter if noone tipped them?? It only makes sense to work that hard with basically no days off for months because of the tips, or you maybe think that 5000kn is awsome wage

    • @Moms-Spaghetti
      @Moms-Spaghetti 5 ปีที่แล้ว +17

Even with what you said, tipping is not required in Croatia. People usually tip few HRK to round up the bill, but it is not required to give anyone 10-15-20% because our waiters are getting paid normal salaries.
I have never said you should never tip, of course, it is welcomed. But it is NOT required and no one will spit in your food because you haven't given them a tip.
Food spitting usually happens if you are being an obnoxious douchebag. :D

One tip. The Croation coast has lots of houses with rooms for rent. Many of them have there own kitchens and bathrooms. It can be better and cheaper than pre-booking a hotel. They usually display a sign at the front, walk up and knock on their door, try visiting the local tourist information centre to get some more info or keep an eye out around ports or ferry terminals for owners looking for business.

Europe is full of amazing landscapes, ancient places and especially rich in different cultures.
I'm german and from Bavaria (close to the Alps) and here we still celebrate pre-christian pagan traditions and every single time an american tourist happens to come here during any of these pagan traditions by accident and takes part or watches they always say things like "Oh wow, i had no idea this existed, none of my travel guides and books i read mentioned any of this."
Which is somewhat sad that american but also other travel guides ignore the ancient and deeply cultural events all over Europe. Usually people only come to Bavaria knowing about "Oktoberfest" and "Schloss Neuschwanstein".
The same goes for other areas and not only Bavaria, Germany. There are also pre-christian 1000+ year old festivities and traditions practiced every year in parts of Austria, Slovakia, France, Romania (especially the transylvanian region), Bulgaria etc.
We always are happy when some american tourists end up watching or taking part in these ancient traditions, because nobody advertises it for some reason, they always just end up experiencing it by accident.
I point this out here because i see it more and more often among american media claiming that there is barely anything cultural in Europe nor anything endangered, which is not true.
Recently a french photographer made it his mission to visit most of these pre-christian pagan traditions and festivities and take pictures.
Just google: Charles Fréger - Wilder Mann
Or check on youtube for traditions we have here in Bavaria like "Perchtenlauf" and if you ever come here, make sure to come by and experience it, it doesn't cost anything either and you'll learn a lot about something US and other worldwide media sadly ignores.
In Croatia there are also many things and traditions to see of the same vein that no travel guide seems to talk about sadly. Lots to explore over all.
      Grüß di from Bavaria

It's a beautiful country.... for visiting and vacation! ...and then escaping to your more financially secure and more stable state in probably every other way in comparison.
      Trust this from local.
Yess.. we have beautiful sea... luckily I live on it, otherwise, if I was inland, then I would be only visited this place newer in my life too.
And probably would live in Ireland too like the rest of my (smarter? unlucky? - don't know time would tell) country fellowmen...
and for the record, it's been called Croatistan, just for better class clarification.
We are proud people! So proud you could not even tell us things in-joke, because, it is our Christian right to be offended if you joke about our shit other nations let go in the past (proud example is WW2 and NDH, but every other topic would do too) So yes.. just be lucky to be in right part of the town and start that conversation... boy you would have so many memories to tell your grandchildren then!!! Probably you would laugh at that incident too, in some 10 years when your memory of that trauma would be clouded.

As a Croatian (not living in Croatia), I must say I'm impressed with your list. I think you've really done your research, so good job with that! And man, do I just wanna be in Croatia right now. Those clips really made me miss the clear water...

3:06 A lot of times they sell water shoes at the beaches. And i really recommend getting/bringing them because walking on stone beaches feels like walking on Legos 😂

Lol- You can always tell the tourists from the locals by those shoes. I'm Croatian so I don't even feel the pain. But yeah, almost all tourists wear them

Thank you, I just spent 2 weeks island hopping. I love it! Watch out for early departures if in a group. Especially if on a boat 🤣🤣🤣
