This is being pushed by John Hancock. The total raised and the amount of backers equates to about $235 a person. Absolutely crazy.

JH has no shame, he would gladly promote anything if he gets a free copy of whatever is being pushed. His reviews for stuff he gets are always watered down and free of any real criticism. But the fact that he actually has a signed cartridge in his hand kind of tells you this wasn't just a big scam, doesn't it? I'm not saying they'll stand up against any lawsuit Nintendo throws at them, but they've clearly made the cartridges and sent them out to backers.

It reminds me of Smash Overload. Where someone tried to raise ten grand to complete a romhack of Super Smash Bros. 64 only for it to go completely badly.
What is insane about this, the three games are IP from three different companies. 1 - Super Mario Bros: Nintendo. 2 - Rad Racer: Rare (now owned by XBox Studios / Microsoft). 3 - Tetris: Tetris Company. Not saying its not licensed by all three, but I would be shocked if it was...
Correction: Rad Racer was developed by Square Enix.

You are spot on here. Especially with Nintendo coming out with their own World Championship game next month....they would sue just because it would get confusing with their own currently (soon to be) available game which is beyond just the actual games on the cart. I would be shocked if this actually releases.
I'm the same age as Thor Aackerlund, and as a small child I actually attended one of the regional Nintendo events that led up to the competition. Can you imagine being a 40-year-old man and still holding on to something this tightly that you did when you were like 8... decades ago... in another lifetime? Can you then imagine that it mattered so much to you, that you used it to sell a shady unlicensed/illegal product 30 something years later? Can you imagine thinking it's a good idea to attach your name on the product, and likeness in the promotion? Jesus. 🤦♂People have no shame these-days, and will do ANYTHING for even the possibility of a buck these days. Ethics are out the window at this point - in 2024, America is in full-on late-stage capitalism down to even the bottom rungs of society. 🤷♂

The problem I have with this is rom sites getting shut down for letting people get backups for free but these people making money off Nintendo assets etc just find this not on.Charging a lot for something that isn't there so yeah if Nintendo lets this slip then it's really not fair.

One out of the three kickstarter backing has came to my front door. The Sinden lightgun was the only one that came to my door. The other two on games that are being developed, I just get updates in my email. I won't support anyone on kickstarter anymore. I'm not funding email updates anymore.

thing is those were usually small company run under the radar small batch deals and not some entire kickstarter being promoted. This won't go through that far. Nintendo will send a letter they will run away and end it pretending they had to by nintendo and had zero idea what they were doing is wrong. If the campaign does end and they collect the money however they are under zero obligation to refund the money keep the cash and probably catch them trying to sell the illegal carts on ebay or at conventions. After the campaign ends the backers are f'd. But no it won't go that far as to nintendo ruining them as they will flee at any sign of legal threats oh and nintendo of course telling kickstarter to end the invalid campaign. The cowards will run at any sign of trouble and maybe hoping to wait out the campaign period when everything gets locked in.
