All of us called it it just took Nintendo 24 hours to take it down and I bet the backers were either trolls or these people were really stupid to believe this project.
It actually took them 5 days, from the looks of it.
I think most of the backers were gullible and thought they were buying the next holy grail of retro games. I wouldn't rule it out that some of them backing trolled the project or that even a Nintendo lawyer backed it to collect evidence.

I'm glad that the community generally rejected this NWC 35 campaign. I don't object to rom hacks, but this was extremely overpriced for what it was. But please, continue to support the indie developers that make legit new content for the NES and other retro systems by buying their digital or physical games.

Most of the onus falls on these people for creating such a ridiculous Kickstarter, but I also do blame the backers to a degree for entrusting their money in something so absurd. How could you not know that Nintendo would shut this down ASAP?
Cash grab, it was disappointing to see who promoted it. Between this and resellers at conventions it breaks my heart as a collector and who loves the hobby.
Even if these geniuses were giving the carts away for free, Nintendo still would have shut them down.
7 years ago they shut down a Kickstarter for an unofficial visual compendium (arguably, a more honest endeavor than bootleg NES games).
Of course they were always gonna shut this one down.

This should've been eerily similar to a Three Stooges Short, "Beer Barrel Polecats," where during a time of Prohibition, Moe, Larry and Curly make their own beer and they ALL put the yeast in. They end up in jail for selling to a cop and charging the black market price on top of it. It then led to reused footage from "In the Sweet Pie and Pie," and "So Long, Mr. Chumps," all of which is on the official Three Stooges + TH-cam Channel.

When I saw this, I knew that it would end up on that channel. When I saw Butch Hartman's OAXIS kickstarter launch, I knew this would appear on Slopes Game Room and years later, it got a dedicated video.
You could buy an official everdrive and upload every rom hack ever cheaper than this pile of plastic.

I have done told you all that Nintendo was going to DMCA this! I knew this was going to happen but nobody listened. Again this Pro Edition version of NWC should have been free! It should have been a free rom hack to patch the original with. That's what happens when you profit off of a rom hack. I really hope someone who actually knows what rom hacks are actually makes a TRUE rom hack of NWC to make it more challenging and DOES NOT go selling it via kickstarter or anyone of these other crowdfunding sites.

I did a Kickstarter video for a girl and it ended up getting her about 50k raised to Green light her project, and then she turned around didn't do the project, blamed everybody else, and virtue signaled her way into getting a tedx talk where she talked about how much abuse she got during her own project. Which were 100% all lies. Meanwhile those people that gave their 50k totally lost at all. The only silver lining from it, is that I think I was the only person she didn't throw under the bus.

You need to put who the people are who took money to promote this we need to know so we can stay away from them.
I dont know that anyone took money, I cant say that for sure at all. But when I saw this Kickstarter my first thought was that the backers are at a high risk of losing their money, so not sure why others who look at this kind of stuff all the time didn't think the same in order to warn people.

This Kickstarter was as risky as the “Gasoline fight” from Zoolander… and anyone who didn’t see it as such probably deserves to lose their money as a life lesson.
I think you said it best… if someone wants to make something like this and put themselves at risk… that’s on them. To try and do something risky with other people’s money is just a real dick move on them… and it deserved to be on blast. I've seen a certain TH-cam channel (that I won't name unless someone asks me) ask for donations and then they posted photos on Instagram of a luxury vacation. I've never been on a vacation in my entire life. I'm not giving them a penny. Fund your own ideas. Nobody funds mine and theyre better than yours.

This project was bound to fail. Just like Dolphin emulator on steam. If you want to use copirighted material arange colaborate with the compagnie that owns the material or do it underground. Steam and Kickstarter ain´t platforms to host these kind of endeavours.
Ah. The good old Dreamcade Replay. I ended up removing their software from the start menu, and I replaced it with a Big Box build, but I haven't used it in a while. It was an ok price for a micro pc, but when they lost the license for the Atari form factor, I was disappointed that they went with such a generic shell.
It takes very little effort to flash a board with a rom they didn't make, and put it into a cartridge shell. They should only be charging for parts and shipping.
