    I'm wondering if you have removed the mechanical water pump with the Davies Craig EWP taking on the cooling function. I didn't catch you mentioning removing the factory water pump is all. I fitted a Davies Craig EWP to my Sprint TR7 , removing the mechanical pump, I found plumbing the heater to the top of the pump cover had minimal if any flow . As the OEM pump is removed , in my case, there isn't a low pressure point at the pump cover to get flow.. I fixed it by using another pump to circulate coolant through the heater with a separate switch. I'm interested what you have done or found if that also to be the case for you. An even simpler fix is to plumb the return from the heater to the lower radiator hose between the radiator and EWP which is effectively a low pressure point in the system to get flow through the heater matrix.
