Coming back to this video (which was my first introduction to PoE) after playing for ~20 hours and using these tips just to say thank you. Your advice has gotten me over the main hurdles I had when I tried this game several years ago and was a prompt beach quitter. It felt clunky and awkward when I played all that time ago and I just went back to Diablo. After this past week of playing I don't think I can ever go back to Diablo. I'm currently in Act 5 and have been having so much fun progressing and every time I get a new piece of gear or a passive skill that seems to make my build even more broken, it makes me feel like I'm getting away with something I shouldn't be allowed to... it's AWESOME. I've had some bumps along the way but even those feel so good to surpass and figure out why something wasn't working. I'm hooked, and want to thank you for your help getting me started in this behemoth of a game.
would love to see a guide on how as an experienced player, you approach POE end game. What do you prioritize? How do you make early league currency (heist during campaign/after)? What initial and proceeding atlas passive trees do you favor? Etc. Probably biggest thing for most early-ish players would be if you have limited time, what tends to bring the biggest bang for the buck since POE really demands a lot of the player's time, which not everyone can give. Great guide, and best luck with baby Woolie!

Just came to PoE from Diablo. Dissapointed in myself that it took this long to play. I've been very overwhelmed so far, but wanted to try it before playing PoE2. This guide was a life saver. Thanks for making the switch easier!
DO NOT follow build guide. Especially on your beginnings - you will lose 50% of fun. They created that tree for a reason - to give us something to analyze, plan, think and execute. Just type in section above tree what You need like res, bow, strenght, sword, two handed, minions or whatever and go there while takin some life, res and damage on the way. You will see what you lacking during game. Don't be afraid of choosing nodes, just go for it. In this game satisfaction of tryin to create your build and make it work is UNMATCHED. Don't let yourself be fooled that You can't do it without years of study and only minmaxing no life ghuls which never go out of their basements analazying every aspect of PoE are able to do it and You are hopeless without them. That is a lie. It's easier than it looks, just read things during the game and if you don't know what something means check help info inside PoE. Try it YOURSELF and thank me later. Cheers!
Today I start the game and I chose the Witch and I love it. I never put the other build în my build. Never. Not even în Warframe. It take all the fun if u copy-past the build. Ur comment îs True 100%.
As a poe vet i laughed the second you brought up armor and evasion lol because good luck describing it to a new player without saying "sort-of" or "kind-of" 100 times
I don’t play PoE, I’m just a Woolie fan, and this format is the absolute fkn best. Keep killing it brother I love watching your content and channel grow.
I haven't played the game before but am looking into it. Should I play poe1 or poe2? For a complete new player who is just interested in the character building idea
I’ve been going back to these older games that I have never played but I started with guild wars 2 and I have played every single day since I downloaded it right before Christ. Such a amazing game that is f2p and I love it because it can run on a old potato and use crummy hotspot connection and work just fine. So now it’s time for path of exile.
Hey man, thanks for the guide, I've only ever reached maps once, because my characters seem to become useless by act 7 or so. I'll definitely try a beginners guide and would love a more end game focussed one :)
Righteous Fire is the best Starting build because it turns HP, Resistances and life Regen into damage. you can just stand there menacingly, on fire, and things die. just Shield Charge across the whole map. and it can come online at act 3!
Tip for all other beginners who decided to use a guide, if youre like me and was like "yeah thats a cool build" well check and make sure that the skills that are on the website and the PoB are the same cause I just spent the last 3 hours figuring out how to even progress just to find that the dude who made the "Explosive Arrow Ballista Elementalist League Starter" doesnt have the same skill tree as the PoB. If this is intentional this is not helpful as no one and not even the game explains the concept if it is. Also you cant even respec untill much later so now I just have to fully restart even with following a guide. Dammed if you do, Dammed if you dont
Wassup woojie, this yaa boy conceptex from stream (prolly dont remember me anyway :)) but just wanted to show some love. the vid is a banger!!! straight fire and i mean this honestly, probably the best beginners guide on youtube for PoE
Okay so I don't think my problem is the amount of stuff to learn. I understand gear, and numbers, and mods and supports to attacks and buffs, I understand anything that actually has a descriptor or a place to find specific information in-game about a mechanic or tool. What I DON"T understand is how to play and enjoy an ARPG or whatever this is. Never played Diablo. The closest game that is similar to this was some PSP game that I believe came WITH the handheld back in the day. I have made three characters so far, two of which have gotten to Act 4 about level 40-42, and I start to make another. This is where I just realized I probably need to hit 50 before I worry about trades and crafting, or wasting mats on temporary weapons that don't sell well at all to the NPC vendors. I think new players would benefit massively if there were more "let's plays" that show simple example of gameplay and decision making (that's not cracked TF out meth) to help create an understanding of the game.. I have watched probably 3-7 hours of "beginners tips" and all they do is read out the exact same information, which is just definitions of the functions within the game... not really any help to actually PLAYING the game. I have accomplished a good bit, and have a self experimented build (zero expectations it will even make end acts), but don't feel I was aware of my purpose or intent this entire time.
your concerns are exactly what my next video will be covering - I'll make an entire character from scratch & explain all the decisions that I make during the levelling process
Fantastic! Appreciate the efforts you have made as well as other PoE players to help the newbies. It's a rightfully impressive and addictive game. I might also suggest covering the terms people communicate with. Reading global chat is like trying to read an alien language xD @@Woolie
What's a Divine....very, rare for me ! Very good guide especially on Trade Guide...you did a better job explaining the mechanics of it than any other "BI'G name" streamer, YT influencer" !
Great guide. My notes: Don't have them download a filter, instead have them SUBSCRIBE to a filter. That way it gets auto updated every time they log in.
Great info! Knowing how to proceed after getting into red maps is my current progression wall. However, I never really knew how to use Poe ninja like you described, so hopefully that’ll be the extra info I need to keep chugging. Like, once I’ve got good res/life, I don’t always know what to go for next. And like, sometimes, when I think I’ve got an idea, the freaking prices are outrageously high. But yes, endgame woolie tutorial next pls
I think of choosing a build guide in this game almost like choosing a character. Pick what you think is fun, find a league starter for it. That's your "character".
The best advice so far was utilizing the craft bench for all res on everything. I assume a lot of new players are just afraid to spend their resources without knowing how rare they are or what it really does short or long term. I pretty much have an idea and for my first few characters.. archetypes I wanna go for. I wanna experience the skill tree shit raw as a new player and just experiment cause that is literally the only way I learn is doing things lol.. I pretty much just went with the idea of a poison range guy that leeches hp and mana per damage tick making me immortal and it's fucking amazing 👏 I don't lvl life at all 😅 Just life per hit with a 46 energy shield and like over half my mana missing on reserve.. I beat malachai with just over 500 max hp 😅 And a crude bow with just 3 green links. I never really die unless I get careless and forgot a buff or don't pay attention to cooldowns or what ability I'm casting. When I'm locked in I'm immortal and I just wanna get to the point where I can forget to use my buffs for the hardest enemy in the game and must turn my brain off while being immortal xD I did copy some streamers ideas but for the tree I went in mostly blind. I'm now ascended to raider so I can combine frenzy with vitality with a little bit of warbanner to help with the caustic multishot Then I use snipers mark for tanky enemies and the other mark that gives leech on the heavy hitting enemies. Frostblink and potions for the bs one-shot mechanics. Health pots with cold or bleed immunity for certain bosses is nice! Plus extra res or armor if you need it. It's not complicated tbh.. this does help a lot. I'll try a build guide for the same archetype in the future with balance changes added and see how it plays having a build created by someone arguably more nerdy than me. But I like this approach just in case I find the next broken thing that people will be copying me lol
This feels like a lecture course, I just wanna get into ARPG cuz I like rpgs, and I hear this is the BEST OF THE BEST but even this 25 min video feels confusing
Ok I have dowloaded this on Xbox and uninstalled again. Since I cannot do 2 of the 3 things he says makes the game better. And these comments here all say I need to learn and get better. Seems like my 2-3 hours a week gaming time is not really suited for getting into thia
That is what people call " a proper guide". it was super educational, funny and easy to understand. Thank you for the effort to make the video. I will probably watch it a few times just to fix my character. One question. Do you have a video explaining the passive tree and we're is the best to start from or should I go fallow the build guide 😂😂😂
definitely use a build guide for that! I do have a "passive tree tierlist", albeit, just for the Marauder, atm, but def just stick to a guide. glad this vid helped :)
The resistance baby, the resistance. That was the part I missed. I first went full on DPS but damage won´t help if everyone oneshots you and you won´t level again because you lose xp for every death. It was a magical moment after I got my res together.
I think this might be the first video I have found that is actually aimed at new players. I have maybe a couple hundred hours in the game... still gonna say I am new because I only recently finished the campaign on a character only to immediately get slapped around like nothing when I started maps. TL;DR, yes, please make end game guide :)
my god what a man. follow for years now for RoR/R2. see i have PoE in my ps5 library. download. hmmm...lets look up beginner guide. *woolie pops up in search* OH HELL YEAH.
I understand the importance of build guide, but it kinda defeat the purpose of me "playing" a game. It feels like a task at work, which I am trying to get away from lol I am still only lvl 19, and patiently reading my way through creating a 2H melee build. Will I regret later on by playing the game casually, and by "feel" only? I mean, I try to be logical with my build as I go through it, I just don't feel like tinkering with strict guides and be told what to do. I game for freedom, enjoyment, discovery.
Give this man a medal! Everything is sooo well explained and I love the humor. I can relate to this since I level 60 Guardian and I kind fcked up my stats hahaha. This guy gave me the headspace to build it right on the next playthrough! Like and subscribe folks!
I played the game with some friends years ago, got to act six, and when I returned years later, I had no idea what my build was, beyond that I was a necromancer. I'm mainly questioning whether I should just restart or if I can rebuild from where I am. Spoilers from this point. All I remember is that I killed Malachi, putting an end to the threat of thaumaturgy, and that when I was in Oriath taking revenge, I freed Kitava, who killed me MANY times because there just weren't enough corpses in the room to keep the pressure up. I returned to Wraeclast, and there was something about infiltrating a prison, that's where I stopped.
You need, Need, NEED to make more POE content. Ziz is great and all, he knows what he's doing for being informative and teaching, but holy shit I fall asleep to his near monotone lmao. How you format your shit, especially with the new change, is so good and is what I need. I'm just a fledgling exile (about 200h) and NEED good info to help me get better. When someone got me to finally play through getting to maps n shit (played cobra lash in sentinel, good shit, so fun) I ended up disenfranchised from the "just lightly copy a build and then just buy it" type gameplay, didn't fulfill me, so I recently started standard ssf (don't know how frequent I'll play, I'll get back into leagues when I know more). SOOOO After your endgame basic guide and whatever else you wanna talk about before getting deeper into shit, I would love a moderately detailed series of each of the league mechanics, cause like I only have a slim understanding of how to go deep in any of them at all (mostly my current preferred, heist), and will probably stick with SSF, so knowledge is the #1 most important thing for me to have. Also a quick note for clarification because I had to look it up just now, just having a public account wont help import your character to POB, you need to uncheck "Hide Characters Tab"
Endgame-centric guide next?

Yes, and don't forget to shit on TFT now that they're getting exposed.

For anyone that still doesn't want to take the PoE plunge, Last Epoch comes out into 1.0 next month and is already a great game in early access. It has great crafting, really unique skill building, and the full launch is going to impliment one of the best ideas in the trading realm I've seen in an ARPG. Really worth it!
Just wanna say this is my first time playing POE and my first video/guide im watching and im loving the video and its helping me out so much thank you. Funny dude too
This was a truly enjoyable refresher for someone who hasn’t played the game since launch 😂 entertaining and fun
been watching your poe stuff recently and been itching to try the game again for a third time trying play it and failing and this is probably the best thing that could've happened. Thank you so much for being an awesome content creator!
thanks again for making this, over the past 2 leagues poe has become one of my favorite games
never followed a guide and just had a blast learning, but this video is amazing! Guides and everything else are a GREAT idea!
been loving the poe content, keep it up
So it means you cant play this game without addons, and a website browser opened while playing?
This just sounds like it takes out 99% of the fun out of the game.
Was looking for a good beginner guide for my friend and all of them are either 3 hours long or gloss over too much. This is the video ill be showing anyone that wants to get into poe from now on. Thank you
First tip is to follow a build guide. The entire point of these games is having fun making builds. That totally takes the fun out of it
Is it possible that you're not taking into consideration that a beginner might not know how to make a build properly?
@@CowboyRibeye that's part of the fun, making mistakes!
@@lewanjosephnimick9359this is generally true, but I would imagine doing a shitty build as a beginner and then dying a ton because you permanently fucked up and then having to start over is probably not that much fun
@lewanjosephnimick9359 that's normally the case yes. But you need to consider the fact that PoE is on a timer
Hiya!! After loving POE & Diablo for thousands hours of gametime, I think you should cover Dwarven Realms releasing at the end of September, even in its early acess it been a massive blast combining POE-like gearing system combined with Roguelike of Vampire Survivors + Action RPG feeling of BDO in 3rd person being able to animation cancel dashes etc! And the Devs keep pushing out significant updates, changes and fixes daily and the community on discord is really chill and helpful
Dude , just wanted to say thx. I struggle every league . I follow a guide and just leave after kitava. This time i was searching for help , your guide did the thing ..Currently im swimming trough tier 5 maps easly and progressing the 6/s. haveing lots of fun , thx again
good stuff bruther keep it up!
got a couple hrs in the game thanks to this vid. poe 2 looks like its gonna be sick so trying this out in the meantime
The first 2:30 of this video did more to help me learn how to enjoy this game than literal months of bashing my head against it on my own. LISTEN TO THIS MAN.
Cheers!
Thanks. That's what I've been doing and it's fun. I don't care if I'm the best I know I'll never have time foe that
ty!
Yep! I completely agree. Tutorial was helpful but I think don’t worry about “following a build” it kills creativity and fun
Today I start the game and I chose the Witch and I love it.
I never put the other build în my build. Never. Not even în Warframe. It take all the fun if u copy-past the build. Ur comment îs True 100%.
Please create more guides. This is a great breakdown for newcomers!
As a poe vet i laughed the second you brought up armor and evasion lol because good luck describing it to a new player without saying "sort-of" or "kind-of" 100 times
Fantastic video, this is the kind of content PoE needs for new players
You just earned a subscriber. Thank you for the information.
I don’t play PoE, I’m just a Woolie fan, and this format is the absolute fkn best. Keep killing it brother I love watching your content and channel grow.
This game has such a high barrier to entry it's hard to figure out what's what. Thanks Mr Streamer!
I'm not much for PoE from the little I've tried, but i definitely might give it a shot again from this.
I'm loving the new style ! Excited for more
I haven't played the game before but am looking into it. Should I play poe1 or poe2? For a complete new player who is just interested in the character building idea
2 is not out yet and won't be for some time. Start now, regardless (with 1), as it will definitely translate over to 2!
@@Woolie thank you. I had heard about 2 and seen people discussing it so I didn't know if it was fully out yet.
Thanks for the guide mr. streamer
@@trenth7749 Closed beta is sometime mid-this-year, full release not sure about
Amazing guide tons of usefull info, clean and Simple ! U helped me alot thank you !
Thanks for the content. I don't currently play. Building a character through the tree system looks fun and diverse.
Cool epic video, hope this blows up sooooon.
Love that harbinger starlight portal. I have the same one and it’s just gorgeous in my hindeout
Such a great video dense with info and easily understandable, this will be great for learners!
Righteous Fire is the best Starting build because it turns HP, Resistances and life Regen into damage.
you can just stand there menacingly, on fire, and things die. just Shield Charge across the whole map. and it can come online at act 3!
omfg... your energy paired with the layout of this guide had me rolling laughing. Thanks for your help :D
Me and my wife have played PoE for 4000 hours each. We didn't know about ~ until now. Thank you.
ConspiringVillageRat from Chat here... and first of all Congrats on having kid ❤
I will now be installing POE see y'all in 3000 hours...
Thanks :)! this video helped a lot especially the trading guide xd
What's a Divine....very, rare for me ! Very good guide especially on Trade Guide...you did a better job explaining the mechanics of it than any other "BI'G name" streamer, YT influencer" !
Just got into POE a week ago and woolie drops this, GGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGG
Thanks for this guide, i almost missed the less important factor of this game, the skill tree.
Nice guide! Thanks!
But yes, endgame woolie tutorial next pls
bro woolie u just had a baby take a break
U tryin to kill my grindset rn bro ??
woolie gotta flex that mirror stack to his baby. household dominance assertion
I pretty much just went with the idea of a poison range guy that leeches hp and mana per damage tick making me immortal and it's fucking amazing 👏
I don't lvl life at all 😅
Just life per hit with a 46 energy shield and like over half my mana missing on reserve.. I beat malachai with just over 500 max hp 😅
And a crude bow with just 3 green links.
I never really die unless I get careless and forgot a buff or don't pay attention to cooldowns or what ability I'm casting.
When I'm locked in I'm immortal and I just wanna get to the point where I can forget to use my buffs for the hardest enemy in the game and must turn my brain off while being immortal xD
I did copy some streamers ideas but for the tree I went in mostly blind. I'm now ascended to raider so I can combine frenzy with vitality with a little bit of warbanner to help with the caustic multishot
Then I use snipers mark for tanky enemies and the other mark that gives leech on the heavy hitting enemies.
But I like this approach just in case I find the next broken thing that people will be copying me lol
yooooo woolie and PoE content wasn't on my bingo card but I'm here for it
This feels like a lecture course, I just wanna get into ARPG cuz I like rpgs, and I hear this is the BEST OF THE BEST but even this 25 min video feels confusing
Wow, this game out at an extremely convenient time. I just downloaded PoE last night.
Dont be ashamed of you litle steps, we all started same as you long time ago😊.
It's cause they're listening
I'm coming back to this game today, I played it for 200 hours back in 2013 and 2014. It's time
Edit, this video was such a nice welcome to the game
Thank you woolie, very helpful. I would love more POE content.
I love your ror2 contnet i just got poe today this video helped alot thanks
Ok I have dowloaded this on Xbox and uninstalled again. Since I cannot do 2 of the 3 things he says makes the game better. And these comments here all say I need to learn and get better. Seems like my 2-3 hours a week gaming time is not really suited for getting into thia
Damn I might be going down the same path
I've never played this game but have heard of it. But TH-cam reccomended strikes again and now I have tons of good info about a game i......might play
I understand the importance of build guide, but it kinda defeat the purpose of me "playing" a game. It feels like a task at work, which I am trying to get away from lol
I am still only lvl 19, and patiently reading my way through creating a 2H melee build.
SOOOO
After your endgame basic guide and whatever else you wanna talk about before getting deeper into shit, I would love a moderately detailed series of each of the league mechanics, cause like I only have a slim understanding of how to go deep in any of them at all (mostly my current preferred, heist), and will probably stick with SSF, so knowledge is the #1 most important thing for me to have.
Also a quick note for clarification because I had to look it up just now, just having a public account wont help import your character to POB, you need to uncheck "Hide Characters Tab"
I now have 3addons and 5programms ... when am i allowed to continue act3?
Great editing! Also petition for a full version of the Human song
This was mad entertaining. Preciate you
My edibles started hitting me and my dumb ass was expecting the dinosaur game path of titans. Sat through the first bit wondering where's my dinos
Excellent, thanks.
Real men suffer without guides back in my day (28 😂) we didn't have guides we just sucked until we didn't
