Thank you for the video. Despite being very practical, this proves that the IF output of the KX3 can be processed in the audio band by simple FFT. I find it more interesting to explore other hands-out routes (e.g. an audio bluetooth interface attached to KX3 for wireless connection, a USB-C cable incorporating a A/D chip for seamless connectivity, a python script to display and CAT read out the current frequency, etc.)
What would have really been useful is if the app had a data decoder (yeah, I know, the KX3 does) but I'd be way more useful than just seeing the waterfall.

I tried iSDR on the iPhone 4S. Unfortunately, the Apple Camera Connection USB adapter does NOT work with the iPhone. You get the following error when the camera connection USB adapter is plugged into the iPhone: "This Accessory is Not Supported by iPhone".

Hi Dan, There are two versions of the Griffin Audio Device that I found on Amazon.com. The Griffin Technology iMic USB Audio Device and The Griffin Technology 7725-IUAI iMic USB Audio Interface. When you change the frequency on the iPad it changes the frequency on the KX3. This setup does not allow you to transmit using the iPad. You would have to use the KX3 mic. 73, WD9E
Nice vid but after spending good money on my KX3 I would spend a tiny bit more on a proper cable for the IO port, the weight of that cable through the adaptor is gauranteed to cause problems in time. The misslignment at 2.30 looks horrific.
Have the newer iPad Air with a power/io connector. Does Griffin make an adapter for that model and has anyone tried it with the KX3 to see if it works? Thanks for the demo, it was very exciting. Ed N6XA

Using latest version of iSDR on iPad 3, it usually crashes whenever I "enable the mic." I have a Griffen iMic connecting my KX3 to the USB slot on an iPad camera adapter. I have the switch set to MIC. The iSDR S-meter display is truncated by 50% both horizontally and vertically. I can't move the red cursor. Any suggestions? n6xi at arrl dot net
I have never been able to get this to work. I have a newer Lightning connector iPad, I have the Griffin sound card and I have the apple USB adapter for the iPad. I also have a pre-made cable that is 2.5mm male to 3.5mm male. No matter what I do, the software never mimics the frequency on the KX3 or visa/versa. RS/IQ turned on etc. Any ideas? WA6JFK

Soon after I made this video, I did buy a proper cable with a 90° angled connector so there is no pressure on the port. Thanks for your comment.

The Griffin iMic should be set to "Mic" mode.
I do not understand why the ext. sound card is needed if the KX3 has already I/Q sigs output port... Is there something what I am missing please?
the sound card is the Analog to Digital converter for the ipad
This requires IOS 8.0 or later. The old iPad that I was using has IOS 5, so it will not work and will not support version 8. FYI
