    Great review!, Kayano lites are under rated. I have been waiting for this review for a long time and I think it is the first one on you tube. I have run on the Kayanos lite 1 and it has been my best stability shoe so far ( wider midsole platform and medium cushion ), currently running on Kayano lite 2, they are good but came narrow for my toes and narrower platform ( I kept them because I purchased them on sale for $44.00). Kayano's lite 3 will be on my next purchases. Thanks.

      Thanks, Jorge! I was really surprised there aren't more reviews of this shoe out there. That was one of the reasons I chose to do so. So far, I'm glad I did! Unless you have wide feet, I don't think you'll have a problem with these being too narrow.

    Glad to hear the improvements from the Gel-Kayano 29. I love Asics shoes and have been running them for many years, but the Kayano 29 doesn't seem to breath as well as my previous Asics shoe. The support sounds great as well! Thanks OMV! Great to hear you have recovered so well from the 'VID.

    • @oldmanvanrunning
      @oldmanvanrunning  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi Raylene! You are very welcome!...The upper on the Gel-Kayano 29 is its weakest element, and I agree it's less breathable. The upper on the Gel-Kayano Lite 3 is markedly better, in my opinion, and the support is excellent! 👌 Thanks for the comments!

    That sound like the replacement of my Kayano 29, that I have been searching for. Especially, as we had the same problems with the 29. Thanks for the review.

      Hey, Argumon! They're still doing well. Only thing I give the 29 over them is a bit more cushioning.

    As one of your subscribers, I was interested in your result from Sunday's NYC Half, so I just looked you up on the NYRR Results page. I remember what your finish time was last year, as I watched that video several times -- all I can say for now, looking at yesterday's result and comparing it to last year, is ..... WOW !!!!! 👍👍👍

      Hey Cathy! Hope you had a great race yesterday as well! As for my time, I'm thrilled, considering I had Covid 4 weeks ago, and I am looking to get down to 1:36:00 by the summer (will be 60 next month). All systems go, my friend!

      @@oldmanvanrunning Bill, thank you for asking -- I did rather badly, but at age 73, I'm just happy that I can run at all, so my day was good. 4 weeks after Covid, and you ran a blazing-fast half! Wow! 1:36:00 at age 60 will be sooooo impressive. You will beat many runners half your age. I look forward to that summer video. 😀

    OMV - Good luck in the NYC Half tomorrow. I will be hours behind you -- in Wave 5 -- but I am excited to do this race for my 4th time. I hope you are excited too! The first two times I did the NYC Half, I had to fly home to Los Angeles the day after. Now I live in Queens, so I have a much shorter commute home! I look forward to your race video again this year. Will you be complaining in the video about all the hills, like you did last year???? LOL. Have fun.

    Appreciate the thorough review. Is the stability of this shoe comparable to the Tempus (or more or less stable)?

    • @oldmanvanrunning
      @oldmanvanrunning  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey David! Thanks!....This shoe is more stable than the Tempus. I would put it along side the Glycerin GTS 20 in terms of stability. As I mentioned in the review, it feels more natural than forced, and there was never the slightest hint of instability. Basically, stability that you never notice or think about during the run.

    • @MiccaPhone
      @MiccaPhone ปีที่แล้ว

      Well, acc. to 11:59 it is softer even than the Saucony Guide series. (so let alone the Tempus)

  • @q20a08
    @q20a08 ปีที่แล้ว

    Enjoyed the OMV review. Interesting trend getting stability from the wider platform, when they used to assume that firmer elements were mandatory. I own a more extreme example of this, in my NewBalance "More V3". Quite stable, primarily just due to the very wide base. Not implying it's the precise same category, of course.

    • @oldmanvanrunning
      @oldmanvanrunning  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey, Q20! Thanks!...I've heard that about the More V3 and have been considering trying it out as a stable neutral option. The Brooks Glycerin GTS 20 also incorporates a very wide platform to assist with stability. These trends are allowing shoe companies to provide lighter, more responsive, and more cushioned stability options.

    Thank's for your review. What you think be much batter: ASICS GEL KAYANO LITE 3 or Saucony Guide 17?

    • @oldmanvanrunning
      @oldmanvanrunning  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thanks for the question! 👍 The Gel-Kayano Lite 3 is a great shoe, but my initial impression is that the Guide 17 is a better shoe.

    Great review love the information! How would you compare to the Brooks Glycerin GTS? Is he Brooks more comfortable?

    • @oldmanvanrunning
      @oldmanvanrunning  ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks, Tim! I would say the Glycerin GTS 20 is slightly more comfortable for me, and the midsole is softer. Stability-wise, the Lite 3 is better. Overall, these two shoes would be mainstays in my rotation.

  • @macoyupadoodle
    @macoyupadoodle ปีที่แล้ว

    The difference is due to the size . As the shoe gets bigger, the thicker the mid gets (but the sample size below should be spec)

    Good points made. I too think "stablity shoes" can benefit all runners. Not only people with pronation troubles. "norml" runners can benefit too. Don't have to need it ....to be running in them. ..
    And, some shoes are really suited for certain kinds of runs e.g. Max cushion for "recovery days" ONLY. Not a good idea as a "daily shoe"...might eventually lead to pronation...i think it happened to me. No I don't pronate when I walk outside in the Nike Miler 3's...I only notice a little heel roll when I step out of the shoes...heh...trying to "step out of this"...
    Kayano Lite 3 vs tempus...hmmm...

    • @oldmanvanrunning
      @oldmanvanrunning  ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for the comment! I agree running all the time in max cushion shoes can create foot strength issues. I am a BIG proponent of mixing levels of cushioning, stack heights, and drops to reduce injury risk. I also walk barefoot as much as possible at home.

    Great review! How would you compare it to Kayano-28, which you preferred over 29

    • @oldmanvanrunning
      @oldmanvanrunning  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks, Bhushan! Much appreciated!....The Kayano 28 is a bit narrower in the midfoot, has softer cushioning (better for easy runs of all distances), and is not as responsive. I would characterize the Lite 3 as a more versatile everyday trainer.

    Would you say this is a direct competitor of Brooks Adrenaline GTS 22? And if yes which do you prefer for +20km runs

    • @oldmanvanrunning
      @oldmanvanrunning  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Thanks for the question! 👋 I would say so. For me, this is a better option for +20K runs. An even better Brooks option would be the Glycerin GTS 20. It's important to note that the Gel-Kayano Lite 3 is only an 8mm drop vs 12mm in the Adrenaline GTS 22. For me, 12mm is too much. The Glycerin GTS 20, however, is 10mm, which is really good for long runs.

    How’s kayano lite vs brooks adrenaline for overpronators? Im torn between those 2 at the moment

    • @oldmanvanrunning
      @oldmanvanrunning  ปีที่แล้ว

      Personally, I prefer the Kayano Lite 3 over the Adrenaline for the following reasons: Lighter, lower drop (8mm vs 12mm), and slightly softer cushioning. Both are excellent stability options. I used to wear Adrenalines, but the drop became way too high for me.
