    Hi, OMV -
    Have you taken on any coaching clients now that you are a Certified Coach?
    Are you training now for any specific race or specific time goal?
    Will you be running in this year's New York City Marathon?
    I will be doing the NYC Marathon again this year, but I will be hours behind you with your great speed.

      Hi Cathy! 👋
      I have taken on my first client. He's a local high school Track and X-Country athlete who's father hired me to provide a training plan and in-person coaching for the summer.
      As for races, I have a Half Marathon her in CT this Saturday, and a Father's Day 5 Mile race. After that, I will start my training block for the New York City Marathon! Can't wait to finally run it!...Make sure to say hi if you see me there!

      @@oldmanvanrunning Yes, I will eventually find you at a race and come up to meet you. Thank you for your reply. Congratulations on your first client as a professional Coach!! Thank you for the update on your racing plans. I look forward to those race videos. I am already getting excited about your hopefully-upcoming NYC Marathon AND Boston Marathon race videos !!!

    Great review! What is your experience vs general perception that running damages knees?

    • @oldmanvanrunning
      @oldmanvanrunning  11 หลายเดือนก่อน +4

      Thanks for the comment! 👋 Although I am not a clinician, my understanding is quite the opposite. I struggled with knee issues back in my high school and college running days attributed to my over-pronation. With current shoe technology, I no longer have knee issues. Additionally, it's now understood that muscle imbalances are the primary cause of knee issues associated with running vs stress from the impact of running. In fact, there is evidence running itself is not damaging to the knee joint. The key is to incorporate strength exercises that support those muscles that support running in the core, hips, glutes, upper body, etc.

    I once experienced that kind of hotspot in adidas shoes. As for Kayano Lite 3, it is helpful if you wear much thicker socks? Im thinking of buying this shoe, but worry about the hotspot.

    • @oldmanvanrunning
      @oldmanvanrunning  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Thanks for the comment and question! Thicker socks might help, but I haven't experienced much of an issue with hotspots in the Lite 3 vs the regular Gel-Kayano.

    Also have hotspots. Even blisters on the bottom of my feet and on my heel (inner side).

    • @oldmanvanrunning
      @oldmanvanrunning  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah...There's just something about these ASICS Gel-Kayano shoes that gives me problems with hot spots. I think it has something to do with the sockliner....Just did my first run in the ASICS Superblast, and the feel is much different/better. Will have an FI Review out soon.

    Is it good for flat feet? Thank you. Take care.

    • @oldmanvanrunning
      @oldmanvanrunning  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Great question! There is enough arch support and stability in this shoe to be a good option for those with flat feet. As with anything, however, it's always good to try them on first if you get a chance....Thanks for checking out the video!

    What shoes still give you pop when you are tired that aren’t plated or heavily rocketed? Most of mine that really help me when I get past 15 miles are those types. Novablast 2 is only traditional shoe that still gives me spring in later miles

    • @oldmanvanrunning
      @oldmanvanrunning  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thanks for the comment!...It's more resilience or some rebound. My Brooks Glycerin GTS 20s have some rebound in them (although nowhere near as much as plated shoes) with the nitrogen infused midsole foam, and I am feeling a much livelier midsole in the ASICS Superblast that I'm testing now along with more cushioning. Even the New Balance Vongo V5 feels a little livelier. Will have to see if that holds up past 15 miles. I'll be reviewing both of those soon.

    Right question every stability shoe I’ve seen every one says daily trainer what is a race stability shoe

    • @oldmanvanrunning
      @oldmanvanrunning  ปีที่แล้ว

      I know the frustration 🫤 The positive thing is that manufacturers are now making many of the Super Shoes more stable than before. Nike is doing it along with Saucony and ADIDAS. At least that gives us mild-moderate pronators some options for race day, whereas there were none before. I have had great success with the Saucony Endorphin Pro 3

    I just ran in the K29’s yesterday after a 3 months of sidelining and they put a smile on my face. Very plush and comfortable. 9.6⭐️
    These are more of a snug/fast running fit for me. I only use them for easy/moderate running. Still a top shoe for a stable shoe.
    Now about that hotspot!! I get that in the Glideride 3, K29 and these. I believe its the hard plastic molding that’s used to keep the front uppers shape. I tried sizing up and it’s better but it’s still there exactly where you described.
    Great post OMV!!

      I love the Kayano 29's. They really work for my severe overpronation and cranky attitude if I'm not comfortable!

    • @oldmanvanrunning
      @oldmanvanrunning  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey @woodynlily!...Thanks! You may be right about the molding, but I also feel the sockliner is not as adaptable as in other shoes. I did just purchase another ASICS shoe, the Superblast, and the fit and feel of the sockliner seems better. I'll be posting a FI Review in the near future.

      The Superblast and Novablast 3 are the only one I did not need to buy in wide (note:only NB come in wide at the moment). The fit is excellent!
      Although they run long I still went TTS. They are dreamy for just about everything!!! Amazing!! 🙌🏼
      I find myself saving them as to not spoil my reg blah shoes.
      Looking forward to that review.
