I was hoping you'd have a go with this, as I think you might be one of the few to see it through. I think the utter bizarre, confusion level, and strangeness will scare many away. Although the music is pretty good, what was they thinking doing a game with licensed music in these horrible youtube times? And no music audio level control? Beautiful music, that I would never have been exposed to otherwise. Yeah, I hope he's able to get this fixed.
You are right. I think that will be the biggest problem for you for this game. But some channels can fix it. I recommend you the “EasterGamersTv” from turkey. He fixed this problem. You might want to check that
Kojima has actually introduced new characters with their name on screen and the name of the voice actor ever since Metal Gear Solid in 1998 when nobody knew who any of those actors were. It’s just part of his signature style.
It's interesting how many other aspects have followed into Death Stranding from MGS. He did CalorieMate health items as cross-promotion throughout MGS, but westerners react differently when this is changed to a product like Monster Energy. Just like Norman Reedus etc. are bigger and more widely recognizable names and faces this time around. Not dissing Kiefer, but it was just his voice, and he was sort of channeling an existing character.

Just a few days ago I thought: Man I hope Welonz is gonna play Death Stranding. I don't wanna watch it on any other channel. And now this! Couldn't be happier. Sam Porters running errands for people who are too afraid to cross the dangerous wasteland that their world has become reminds me a lot of Nier. We're just lacking a flying book commeting on our every move and decision.
Yeah, I tried watching another LPer on this and gave up. Apparently some games are just hard to do well as an LP. (KCD is another one, imo.) But I figure if MW can't do it then no one can.

I really hope she finishes this game. I know the beginning is a lot to take in and the long frequent cutscenes can be frustrating to deal with, but I assure you that this is a means to an end. As someone who has put a ton of hours into this game myself already, I can tell you that the more you play the more you begin to understand about this wild, mysterious and sometimes psychedelic world. The more missions you complete, the more characters you come into contact with and the more you traverse this world the more lore you discover. This is not a perfect 10 out of 10 game but it is an interesting, delightful, bizzare, fun and thrilling ride into an imaginative unique world created by Hideo Kojima.
I’ve been wanting to play this game forever and just kept forgetting about it and playing other things first. Finally deciding to just watch it 😂 anything you play I think is a banger so I’m happy to be along for the ride.
Well as someone who didn't watch most of the early trailers, this was deffo an interesting start lol. I did find the whole corpse running sequence particuarly cool. Tho the implications... one undiscovered suicide is all it takes to level an entire city of people. Looking forward to the rest of the game! XD

57 minutes of video, 57 seconds of gameplay! I am getting strong vibes that what little gameplay has been tutorialized thus far is only barely going to get any use. But the story is really fascinating! (if you suspend your disbelief) Thank you for making this series, and I will check out the rest of it!
Yep it's a Kojima game alright :D At times the cutscenes never end, but it should be better after a while and they are very well done even though you can't understand half of it, and for the gameplay part, the simulation is hyper detailed and pushed to the max, which is quite enjoyable if you can get into the rhythm and mood of the game :)

Surprised but pleased to see you take this on. In one way it’s a VERY solitary game but after a while it displays a mechanic that connects you with other players online. It’s been done before of course with games like Dark Souls but it’s NEVER felt so rewarding as it does in Death Stranding. Connections between people, communities, cities etc is the major theme that Kojima was going for in this game. Hope you enjoy it.
@@pedrogonzaleznunez2197 the game has an object degradation system, where the rain slowly rots away even the strongest structures with time, so that cleans out older objects. Furthermore, there is also a 'culling' system, where the game will prioritise showing you highly rated items, and items that people on your friends list in-game made. So it should never get quite so massively cluttered, tho there will probably be lots of messages everywhere XD

Yeah, I think any people with some modicum of analysis and exposure to narrative tropes cam get the story really quick. The theme and aesthetic is weird/unusual but the core of the plot seems pretty simple.
There was definitely a very advanced case of well so and so as you know... It's kind of a great example of why writing guides tell you not to do that, and stories like this are frequently done with some variety of outsider protagonist to mitigate such things. Still not sure if I'm interested enough to look past such things, but I'll give it a couple episodes to see if it hooks me.

I've watched the first couple of hours of this game two or three times now, and I never caught the detail about drinking filtered timefall water. I wonder how that works. How do you turn insta-aging water into harmless purified water? And for that matter, what happens if you don't filter it and drink it anyway? Would it age your whole body, or just your organs? So many interesting scenarios this game brings up!

I just subbed to your channel today, as I saw your complete Death Stranding playlist. I'm in the middle of the game now, nearing the end bit. Taking me longer because I've also got work so I do this in my spare time ^_^ I can relate to you regarding the muted music bits, as I've had to deal with a few of them myself. Anyhoo, keep on keeping on ^_^
I dunno if money would be worth much in that world, especially for "porters". It's not like they have a thriving society to live in and spend the money every weekend or something. I'd see "likes" being sort of like "promises" from society. If you need help for the job, you'll get it. Once retired, we'll take care of you. Etc. And it's not like tokens you spend, but more of a level you've attained ("you did enough; you deserve this").
All i know is there are millions of different and strange games out here and this is probably the strangest one of all, but is it a bad game no i don't think so it's not a game for everyone and i don't think everyone that uploads the first part of it may not complete it. Then again i've seen loads of games that you have played with close to and over 100 parts, so if you decide to finish it i'm sure it may at least reach to part 50 or higher let's hope for that it all depends on how long the episodes are.

You must be accustomed to Playstation, you made it through the prologue without mentioning the graphics. The "master race" on the other hand, get pretty expressive when experiencing a game that doesn't look it was made decades ago.
I feel like I am the only person in the world that isn't hyped for this game at all. Not going to bother buying it so I'll just watch Welonz play it. She's basically the only Let's player I watch now lol. Well... one reason that I'm not a huge Kojima fan is that I hated how he ditched David Hayter on metal gear 5 cause he wanted to go more hollywood. This game is also a good example of that too. As someone who has put 20 hrs into this game already I can tell you that this game is spetacular. This is only the first couple of hours, which is the prologue which only sets up the world. I'm not gonna tell you any spoilers but this game gets wild and more interesting the further you go. Everything starts to make since as you start to get more of the lore from the world and characters.
This is either the best or worst choice for a first Kojima game. His best work was when he was given limitations. But a lot of people really want to see what Kojima can do without limitations. His games always have two things though. Stupid dialogue and interesting gameplay

Well now there's only actually cutscenes, the long codec calls with only the characters' face in the earlier MGS were really a bit too much

Does everyone see all the stuff (ladders, sign, etc) of every other player? That could get crowded if one starts a playthrough in a few months

How do you turn insta-aging water into harmless purified water? And for that matter, what happens if you don't filter it and drink it anyway? Would it age your whole body, or just your organs? So many interesting scenarios this game brings up!

Wow, Materwelonz shares my birthday! Sort of... OK, not really. My birthday actually is 11/11 but I'm getting a late start, so if anything interesting happens on that day I guess I missed it. I was really torn between watching the playthrough or playing myself and finally decided to pick it up today. Really looking forward to hearing your thoughts on Death Stranding when I'm through.
Stilted dialogue. Ridiculous amounts of exposition. Insane story points. Yep. That's a Kojima game alright.

Neal Stephenson's Snow Crash makes reference to a famous sumarian relief carving of a priest giving a king a loop of rope and a stick. He pointed out that they resembled nothing so much as a 1 and a 0, the symbols of binary code. I assume this opening thing as a reference to that.

Taking me longer because I've also got work so I do this in my spare time ^_^ I can relate to you regarding the muted music bits, as I've had to deal with a few of them myself. I dunno if money would be worth much in that world, especially for "porters". It's not like they have a thriving society to live in and spend the money every weekend or something. I'd see "likes" being sort of like "promises" from society. If you need help for the job, you'll get it. Once retired, we'll take care of you. Etc. And it's not like tokens you spend, but more of a level you've attained ("you did enough; you deserve this").
All i know is there are millions of different and strange games out here and this is probably the strangest one of all, but is it a bad game no i don't think so it's not a game for everyone and i don't think everyone that uploads the first part of it may not complete it. Then again i've seen loads of games that you have played with close to and over 100 parts, so if you decide to finish it i'm sure it may at least reach to part 50 or higher let's hope for that it all depends on how long the episodes are.

Probably not - unfortunately it not being voiced means I would have to voice around 40 hours of dialogue, which isn't quite feasible :(

I feel like I am the only person in the world that isn't hyped for this game at all. Not going to bother buying it so I'll just watch Welonz play it. She's basically the only Let's player I watch now lol. Well... one reason that I'm not a huge Kojima fan is that I hated how he ditched David Hayter on metal gear 5 cause he wanted to go more hollywood. This game is also a good example of that too. I mean, look at all the voice and motion capture people in this game!

As someone who has put 20 hrs into this game already I can tell you that this game is spetacular. This is only the first couple of hours, which is the prologue which only sets up the world. I'm not gonna tell you any spoilers but this game gets wild and more interesting the further you go. Everything starts to make since as you start to get more of the lore from the world and characters.
I was put off by this for 5 years. Picked it up recently and it's even better than anything I expected tbh
This is either the best or worst choice for a first Kojima game. His best work was when he was given limitations. But a lot of people really want to see what Kojima can do without limitations. His games always have two things though. Stupid dialogue and interesting gameplay
