I had to pause the video to make sure another video wasn't playing with all the "heroic" music playing in the background.. haha. Thanks for the info, great vid!

Got P0700 and P0717 on my 2010 Cobalt and I may have the same issue. It looks like the plastic conduit was melted through in a V shape that matches the part of the engine it's resting against. At least two wires are frayed, and maybe grounding out against that part of the engine. Your identifying this problem area might save me a trip to a transmission shop. Thank you!

This exact failure happened to me and it took me a year to finally isolate the source of the problem. I was getting the P0842 code only.
You must have good intuition to find this problem in short time .
I finally detected the problem by back probing voltage at the wire harness connector where connection to pcm is formed. I was moving the wire harness and noticed the voltage change as wire with insulation melted off contacted the engine block near the oil filter.

Great video! I appreciate it. Im currently having a issue with my 05 cobalt. When driven for a while it then starts to kick the shifts but if i turn it off and restarts it, it stops kicking the shifts. I was told to replaceme my Tcm but went to get a second opinion and told me to replace the whole transmission. I dont know what to do, any advice? Would be greatly appreciated

Was your transmission issue ever resolved?

This issue just popped up for me. This is the only video I’ve seen on it so far, so my plan may change, but I’m planning to hard boot the electronics by draining the car. If the issue persists, I’ll check wiring. If I can’t find anything I’m gonna replace the TCM.

Thankyou very much for taking the time to make this video. Very informative too. Say, did you get a chance to test drive after? And if so, how was the test? Thankyou again.

I will never buy another Chevy. They're all full of electrical and computer gremlins, even dealers can't fix them
