    When that little red express pulled up it was rattling pretty good not just burning oil. I'm really surprised that somewhere over the years that four door four speed big block car wasn't robbed of its big block and 4-speed and put in something. Australia is a perfect fit for that car because they seem to like their four-door hot rods. Thanks for the update on the 71 as well. I personally like that 70 or 71 red and white pickup

    • @AutoArchaeology
      @AutoArchaeology  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I was surprised as well. Unfortunately there wasn't much history on it before 2020 when it got to the yard. That pickup was sweet, even though it wasn't for sale, it was still in the field.

      @@AutoArchaeology it's nice that these accidents happen during the course of these vehicles history. Unless their example of something saved by I just didn't get around to it and it's sat for decades. Would be a 62 Impala station wagon that has sat because we just never got around to taking Parts off of it to put on other projects. Although not entirely true because part of the engine is cannibalize but the rest of the car still intact and very good shape. We just never got a 62 two-door hardtop. Couple that with some family history and we all kind of like this Old wagon. Now it is something people want to restore. So four-door big block 4-speed car may have survived for the same reason. More interesting story would be if it became of moonshiners car after the federal government sold it. 🤣
      Nice episode. I truly like to red and white 70 or 71 Dodge pick up out of the whole collection the best. Because I had one before.

      @@AutoArchaeology mopars in general are crazy sought after. Of course you know that. Very seldom see at car show like GM and ford's

    • @ervinthompson6598
      @ervinthompson6598 ปีที่แล้ว

      ...... in 1976-80, especially around the military bases in NC(Fort Bragg, Camp Lejeune) you could find these on car lots , run ragged by soldiers and Marines , traded for economy cars- usually for less than a thousand dollars. They were considered junk, as described elsewhere; gas hogs, insurance on them was getting outrageous, and nobody wanted them. As early as 1973- and a broke high schooler- I found a '64 Sport Fury on a lot in west Charlotte, 426 Wedge cross ram car, four speed, covered an inch deep in oil underhood and with a mile of duct tape for an interior- $200 cash would have bought it.

    • @JackF99

      Yeah Mopar production numbers were fewer than GM and Ford to begin and they were also cheaper to buy for a long time so they fell into the hands of more youngsters who wrapped a them around trees.

    Nice!!! You showed a still shot of a Sweptline at the end of the video but it wasn't in the actual "moving pictures" (Rush reference) lineup and it looked really nice. I have a 1968 Dodge D100 Custom that was bought brand new by my Pawpaw. The truck has 63,000 original miles on it and didn't have a dent on it until April of 2020 when a freak storm caused a huge oak tree to fall on our carport where the truck was parked and it did some pretty significant damage to the roof of the cab. I have the truck covered up to protect it as much as possible and want to get it fixed when I can, I just haven't found a suitable body shop that I trust. Any leads on a good shop, please leave a comment and contact information, I am in Alabama. Thank you.

    • @AutoArchaeology

      Yup, it was just parked in the field. Not for sale. That sounds like a cool truck! I don't know anyone down there, but up here there are a few I trust. Magnum Auto Restoration in LaSalle, IL, or Noel Automotive in West Branch, Iowa. I've had vehicles at both, and been very happy.

    Great to see the FBI , 4 speed coming to Australia out of all places.
    You guys over in the states should buy back the cars that originally bought over from states to Australia.
    With the strength of the USD lots of bargains here in Australia to send back to the states.
    Know of a 1968, 2 doors hardtop, ex New Mexico rust free 1 owner, numbers matching, factory 8 lug wheels with a 428 HD Pontiac Bonnesville up for grabs at a reasonable price.
    One of many.
