7 years later Neil is a gentleman, but he’s not close to the top of North America songwriters. In my arrogant opinion. Tom and the Heartbreakers are near the top. There catalog over the period of time is better than the Stones. Commercially speaking no doubt but I’m talking artistically. I love The Stones especially the Mick Taylor era. I may being confusing my sentiment, I hold both bands in the highest of esteems. I will arrogantly say again they are the best American band ever. Yes I’ve heard the Allman Brothers and I love them but The Heartbreakers connect to my soul on a different level. Mike Campbell is probably the most underrated musician at his skill set. I love his commitment to the band when he knows he can blow your face off whenever he wants. The thought is probably offensive to him. He reminds me of George Harrison on The Weight on Abbey Road. That’s George on that note and lick. To be so great and humble, I don’t come close but the humility usually comes after a night of jail.

me too, heard it the first time watching that 30 year anniversary concert when he sang it in FLA - i'm a native Californian born 1956 which some people might not realize was full of southern accents when I was growing up and then later half my relatives moved to Lousiana.
When I first listened the song, I was around Broken Hills. NSW, Australia with an OZ & an Irish both with strong accent, I myself..a Japanese from the north end of the main island...,where people speak with the strong accent. Since then, the song has been my long time favorite.... I guess what I'm trying to say is the song is universal

One of my all time Favorite TP &tH's songs, and I'd the privilege of seeiung them SIX times in concert - they were always tight, sounded just like the studio mixes, and never once faded out or lip synched! Gotta hand it to Tom, there was 1 show where he told us (the audience), that after he broke his hand and "the doc said he'd never play guitar again, and he said "F*ck that!" and he is still playing. Rock on Tom, you're one of the greats!!

I think you meant to say 1985 it was probably a typo on your part Tom is singing this in 1985 at The Wiltern Theater in LA! then Tire show is here on TH-cam and back in the day the entire concert was filmed and released under the name pack up the plantation. What's a little confusing is that originally there was a double album called pack up the plantation that didn't include every song from this concert for some reason included certain ones left out others and then added other songs that Tom perform during the Southern Accents to her as well as songs from other albums are those that hadn't been added to albums yet that had a southern thing. I've noticed that on Amazon and eBay there's a pack up the plantation album but it's only a single LP and not a double LP as it had been once upon a time. That is odd. And a few months ago there were only a few and they were all used VHS tapes of the show at The Wiltern Theater which came out back in 1985 the entire show was on VHS tape and they've never put it on a DVD for some reason! Many of us keep hoping that that will come to be!
