- In this episode, the boys take you through the steps of installing lowered springs. Using the MCM Fan Funded show car (Daihatsu Cuore 'MIGHTY MIRA'), the boys drop some height, but will their JDM 17's still fit?

Every single video ends with "you can do it in one afternoon by yourself!" and it always starts with me spending 20 minutes trying to get the jack out of my car, failing, driving to a store to buy some tools, not buying anything, then going home and crying over my non lowered car

when Subaru's have a knocking sound it usually means that they is something wrong with the engine. (to put it simply)
+Brett Sanders Knocking being bad applies to almost everything, not just Subaru. As far as I know, some diesels are the only engines where knocking is normal.

Seven years ago, this is the first MCM video I've watched. I keep rewatching it a few times and I dont get bored from it.
I understand that people change, and circumstances change, and I can certainly appreciate the need for progression, but goddamn I miss the "mum's driveway" stuff.
Takes me back to high school, and a time before I actually worked in a garage and realised I actually hate fixing other people's everyday cars haha
Gimme a weekend job with mates any day, but working in a shop is an entirely different story.

I'm sure that if you put lowering springs (or cut springs) on stock shocks you can end up blowing your shocks after a few months? Correct me if i'm wrong.

So plan too do this soon, thanks for the insight of what I'm getting into and doing. You guys lowered the car from what I can tell, 7cm, 2.7 inches, which is technically way more then I'm dropping my car, so my wheels should still fit, hopefully. 1.25 inch(3.175cm) drop.

Coil overs have the strut, springs, dampers and shocks built in.

***** A suspension kit also has that to and is cheaper than a coilover. It's personal choice I guess.
too bad the 17s werent on the car in the last flyby part of the video. probably why they didnt show the 17s actually being on the car with the lowered stance.

Here in Brazil we need to put in the car of the document that the characteristics were changed and pay $ 200 at the DMV , if u dont do this, your car is towed and pay a lot of thing to be able to get the car out of the police station.... im using the google translator....lol

Brad V do you guys think if i buy 2 inch lowering springs on stock struts for my 02 Eclipse it would be fine or would it mess up other stuff? for example Shocks,Struts,etc

Also worth noting that depending on the car you may need other suspension components when lowering (like camber plates, control arms, ect) to get the alignment right.

I did the front springs/shocks, only put enough compression on the springs so they didn't explode too far. Worked alright. Getting them back on I just pushed down and screwed the bolt on, no need for compressors lol. Bit tricky, but it worked.
Great video, just saved me a few hundred on thinking I need a shop to do this for me.
Always make sure you have spring compressors, a friend of mine got a tooth knocked clean out and was lucky the spring missed his eyes
Hey guys. Love your show. Just had a quick question for you. How long does this process take and also, is it bad for the stock struts to hold the car on lowered springs?
We used to do the same kinda wheel time test back in school lol Ya had to take it off n put it back on in under a minute but by hand no power tools.. Those were the days, hand braking scrapers round the college carpark in spots the cameras couldn't see 😂
The shoe test is a timeless method that will be used for years to come.
They'll wear out much faster (depends on how much you lower it). Honestly, with these sort of things, you're much better off saving up a little and buying what you really want/need (like a decent set of coilovers). Find a forum for your particular kind of car and look/ask around. They're usually incredibly helpful.

If you drive hard and hit big bumps at speed, you can risk bottoming out depending on the amount of drop. Depending on age\condition of current struts, you may want to change the struts when you change the springs. My car only has 35k km on it, so I am just changing the springs and then saving up for a Bilsteins all round.

camber is dependent on a horizontal axis while ride height is on a vertical axis so if you want camber to remain the same even though the car is lower then you have to mark it

dang wel i love these videos cause im buying a honda civic pretty soon and it needs a new head gasket so its a fixer upper but i was wondering if u guys could make a video about how to put a new head gasket on a honda civic please it would help but anyways i love this youtube channel it helps a lot when u wanna do something to your car and with great description

I'm 17 years old and obviously that means I don't have a ton of money to throw around on my cars. I live and die by McM teaching me how to do these things. Finished the wheels today now to go lower my 1987 Celica GT :)
I recently lowered my car, the front looks great but the back looks stock, it was rated for a 1.2 inch drop. Will it take time so it can actually look lowered?
