This is one of the most exquisitely arranged and performed songs that I've ever heard! Expressive both vocally and instrumentally with a deft sense of phrasing and great lyrics! I was fortunate to meet Joy Clark (acoustic guitar) last weekend, a super nice person. Keep an eye out for her new album!
There is simply no voice that needs to be heard more today than Allison Russell. And more than that, what a band too. All of them - pure joy together + Joy Clark on guitar is a blessing
When I heard Allison sing this at the Newport Folk Festival on 2019, she dedicated the song to the children who were alone at the immigration detention centers at the US Border. There was not a dry eye in the audience. ❤️
I’m surprised Allison didn’t get an entire hour at ACL!!! The taping was amazing. Is this a new format? I see other episodes are split with two artists … aside from Brandi Carlile.
These artist are a seven group of only women. Sort of old delta blues with some strings and a beat. A banjo and clarinet. Darn, women are out to express what is in their soul, whereas men just are loud and obnoxious, lol and I'm a dude. Hey some of us just know how to turn back the dial.
Ok cool, what does her "background" have anything to do if it's good or not. Not to mention she's not the only person on stage, they're almost comically bad at playing their instruments. You obviously know nothing about music or music theory lol
I'm a grown man. But, this woman sings from so deep in her heart that it often brings me to tears. This is another case again.
