1:40 When she said “Slam Dunk” my face lit up. It’s the anime that got me really into anime and not a lot of people know about it. Such a classic treasure and happy to know it’s still a favorite for some.
Naruto, One Piece, Full Metal Alchemist, Attack on Titan, Death Note, and Code Geass are all very good. Even for non-anime people, it's kind of easy to get into them - Compelling stories and great characters.
@@TheCodingGengarYT That's a good point. One Piece and Naruto both have a TON of filler, some good (like the G8 filler arc) and some bad (the Davy Back Long Ring Long Land arc). But One Piece does a great job of creating emotional responses in its viewers. You can laugh, cry, and have amazing "fanboy" moments in a 20-minute episode. Some early One Piece, like Arlong Park, Syrup Village, and Baratie arcs, were kind of great and drew us in because they were quick-hitting. They cut through some of the BS and were able to capture audiences. But it definitely drags some at Skypiea, but picks back up well at Water 7 and Marineford. As mentioned, even the G8 filler (right after Skypiea) was pretty good. I think hat's why some prefer the Manga. I've been told by other fans that the anime is so slow paced at times because they have to wait for the Manga, things get extremely drawn out and anime arcs are added like that dragon one with Appis right before they cross into the grand line.
@@TheCodingGengarYT Yeah, they are really not that great to recommend Anime-wise besides Bangers like Episode 1015. But apart from that, the Manga is a masterpiece, so I always tend to recommend that.
@@adamlewis5700 Yeah the pacing is the biggest issue with big long running Shonen Titles. Dress Rosa was a nightmare in Anime Format, while being excellent as a Manga.
My heart warmed up seeing so many older animes get mentioned. Japanese people know their treasures while many foreign anime fans don’t. I think I should go back and start Slam Dunk from scratch again. Edit: I really enjoy reading the comments under mine. Thank you everyone for mentioning your favorites, older or newer. I have started watching Slam Dunk from start , it will take a while to rewatch all but I am here for the ride. I am 33 year old woman now compared to that young girl in 2008 who liked hanamichi 😅 but nostalgia stronger than anything. Slam Dunk made me interested in basketball for the first time and I wish to relive those happier times in life. Anime can take you to so many places, emotionally and physically. I am also reliving through “Monster” right now.
this is actually very common in Japan since anime is more popular than anything else on the TV I have a Japanese girlfriend, her parents have a huge manga collection
And that’s what’s clearly missing in todays international anime community. Everyone is always talking about what’s new - this and that, only series that everyone is talking, is the only series worth watching. Any series that came out last year or more is already considered “old news.” I don’t even keep up with brand new seasonal anime anymore, unless it’s a series that REALLY grabs my interest. Otherwise, I’m still watching “old” series.
@@harshitmishra625 Naruto is a really good anime I agree but Attack On Titans story line is on an another level and the plot twists make it even better.
@@harshitmishra625 I've seen parts of Naruto, it's great but story wise I haven't seen anything like AOT... Not just anime, series, movies, books etc... The narrative, the story, the themes, the characters Man it's just pure gold.
@Alice Not yet but I plan to. I wasn't a fan of how the anime was directed but the source material can't be much better. It was trying to make something look terrifying when it wasn't and I think that's what ruined it for me. And I didn't like how everything ended perfectly. I was kinda hoping for a bad ending or at least a bittersweet one. Overall I give it 7/10. 10/10 anime for me are Attack on Titan and Aku no Hana.
If you love Monster..you should read 20th century boys or if you can read japanese, you should read other Urasawa Naoki's works (the creator) which i believed to be the most GOATED mangaka ever
I love how they say they don't watch anime but they've watched quite a bunch. In my country if a person says they don't watch anime, we expect nothing. Zero. But for Japan, the few famous anime series everyone mentioned is part of their general knowledge. It's just in their culture and that's so cool.
Pooja you don't know that now DBS had started in India on Tv Watch it If it gets enough trp more Anime will come in India and we OTAKUS want more Anime in India ❤️🔥
onepiece is my all time fav ❤️ well I have lot of favourite animes but it depends on the genre like for psychology code geass for romance clannad and so on
So far, I've watched only 3 anime series (movies not incuded) and I was actually waiting for someone to say them: Haikyuu, Eyeshield 21, and Fruits Basket. Btw, haikyuu is my all time fave!! I am watching it for the third time right now. This video gave me ideas cos I honestly don't know what to watch next. I am stuck with Haikyuu! Thanks a lot! ❤
For me, One Piece. I watched a lot of high rated and underground anime to find myself an anime which i could call "favourite". I had this childish thought in my head that liking a more underground anime would be cooler, but my heart couldn't lie, i was and still am in love with the world of one piece and it will always remain my favourite anime.
I accidentally deleted my original comment ^^; I'll write my recommendation again from memory: Revolutionary Girl Utena, Cowboy Bebop, Den-noh Coil, Mushishi, Mononoke, Kill la Kill, BACCANO!, Paranoia Agent, PingPong, The Tatami Galaxy. Note: A theatrical version of "Mononoke" has been announced and will be released in 2023. Also, a new theatrical version of "The Tatami Galaxy" will also be released this summer. As a fan, it is a dream come true to see new versions of old masterpiece.
I didn't expect to see Mushishi AND Mononoke in the comments! I haven't finished either yet but I enjoy both a lot and Mushishi quickly became my favourite manga/anime
Nana is the first manga to outsell one piece back in the late 90's, which made me curious to watch it. I'm not a fan of romance animé, but it really got me invested.
Currently watching spy x family, soon will start on Fruits Basket season 3. My all time top favourite is Rurouni Kenshin (for the manga, movie, anime) and second is Dragonball. For mecha, Rahxephon is pretty good too.
@@manciaramisesvincent5335 its one of the best romance anime with some supernatural mixture and probably one of the best animes ive ever seen the story and characters are so great...trust me u'll not regret watchin it...its freakin worth it...
I think you would enjoy “Mob Psycho 100” the art style is unique and eye catching, you will want to cheer on the main character and love the side characters. The storyline is very moving too :’) It is also lighthearted and funny for the most part.
One Piece is one of the Must. The story of adventure is really great but I realised people mostly avoided it bcs it has over 1000+ episodes, If u start watching it, it'll make you feel like you want to finish it to the end.
nah actually when I started it I was super hyped for the journey I was about to have but the further I came I didnt want it to end. so 1000+ episodes is a lot ik but its still not enough xD
@@kaigorodaki I have a question, should i watch the first seasons of one piece if i want to beginn watching it? Because i have watched the first few episodes of one piece but it wasn't that interesting.
@@waleed9897 just keep watching the original one piece show and that's it, trust me it gets really good if you just keep watching. I would have never thought I would be watching one piece before I started watching it. At least watch 30 - 40 episodes, but I definitely recommend that you keep watching it, it's not that many episodes once you get over halfway, you just start wishing there were more episodes. This is my opinion, so do what ever you want, happy new years and have a great life 👍
The anime that has really resonated with me is Haikyuu! At first I thought I wouldn't like a volleyball anime but man was I wrong 😂 I loved every bit of it 🙌🏼🙌🏼
In my teens. That's what i thought before watching kuroko no basuke. I thought i wouldn't like sport anime. To think in my teens, i totally forgot that i liked captain tsubasa when i was still a child. Ofc i really like Haikyuu loved it totally 😅😂
Golden Kamuy all time favourite. I like historical plot and this series particularly executes it well with the Ainu culture and great back story of every character. Eagerly waiting for season 4 releasing this October.
Great video! As for recommendations, I would highly suggest watching 1. Fruits Basket 2. Inuyasha 3. Code Geass 4. Death Note They all have such a good storyline and well written characters. You will absolutely love these in my opinion. Also, since you watched more shonen like shows, I would recommend watching Black Clover and Bleach as well. Those are my favorites as well.
I would have to say one piece is my all time favourite anime cause it has everything like comedy, creativity, sadness, happiness it just hits differently and gives me the goosebums. It's storyline is topnotch too and so are the backstorys. It will never change for me. People say that it's 1000+ episodes and I used to be like that too but when you actually watch it is so different then what you imagine and it's not some thing you regret.its just special and different.
One Piece literally had a deep impact on me, earlier i used to ignore anime like anything except Doraemon, but this year I started with Bleach, YYH, One piece and OPM, Dr. Stone, Astra lost in space and many other in same genre in last 6 months, One piece had deepest impact on me
@@pranavjain8774 exactly, people are mad at star trek, but this is 100x better, even covers topics like how we are destroying earth and why is so much precious to us
I'm pretty shocked 😳 that majority of Japanese people don't watch anime... For me Japanese Anime is very nostalgic and moved me to a future reality, and distant pass. . . Thank you ☺️ to all manga artist out there in Japan for making our life full of excitement..
Anime/games are considered immature and childish by Japanese society. There’s a phenomenon where Japanese ppl only play phone games with the regular orientation so other people don’t think they’re playing a game on their phone.
Watching anime in Japan is the equivalent to Americans still watching Cartoons in a sense. Back in like 2000 - 2013 or so, if you watched cartoons, you'd be deemed a kid. Nowadays these things are more socially acceptable as people don't care what you watch anymore or they're also watching it. Anime is more accepted overseas than in Japan in some cases.
It’s because of the manga/anime divide, a lot of manga readers don’t like anime, it’s a thing where a lot of people say they don’t watch anime but what they really mean is the don’t actively watch anime, if they see something they think is interesting they will watch it though
good idea for a video! Im sure a big portian of your western audience are anime fans. That is what introduces most westerners to japanese culture. Great stuff! Keep it up!
As an american im surprised how many of my favorites align with Japanese peoples tastes. Everyone loves AOT but I dont hear a lot of conversations about Jujutsu Kaisen so it was cool to see how many people mentioned that
@@ErenAhmedKhan I am Japanese. It's true that although the advancing giant is popular, many people stop reading it because they don't understand it in the middle of the story. I wish people would watch more discussion videos and understand it.
without thinking I'll say HunterxHunter, I've watched it since I was in elementary school, and the last season I just finished when I was in college maybe, actually the story when I watched it as an adult was a bit childish, yes, there are many other cool anime that I've watched, but this really made an impression on my heart & my thoughts, because apart from the adventure genre, this is also friendship, sad and fun at the same time ☺️
I've been watching lots of anime ever since I was in elementary. I like almost anime honestly but, One Piece really hits different. Like, there's something on it that makes it the top anime for me... like it's definitely my *favorite of all time!* after I watched One Piece my standard in anime became high, It feels like OP got it all! The action, comedy, the plot itself is really amazing, the characters - the way they written, the voice actors, everything is so perfect!!! even the songs the openings and the endings! Those 1,000+ episodes are clearly isn't enough hahaha.
A beginner animes I'd recommend for English Speakers are Death Note or Moriarty the Patriot. They have a lot of the same qualities as crime shows which are ridiculously popular in the US. They also help break the "cartoons are for kids" stigma many have. One I'd recommend for any beginner though would be Full Metal Alchemist/Full Metal Alchemist: Brotherhood.
Thank you for this video, I tried to list the anime I am not familiar with so I can watch it too. Definitely, One Piece for me, all time favorite😍 but right now I'm addicted to Tokyo Revengers and seiyuu Yuu-san😍, been buying merch straight from Japan!😅 I've been exposed to these anime since I was a kid watching Princess Sara and Cedie. Local TV networks in PH🇵🇭 have been airing since 70's, (I guess) like Voltes Five.
I really liked Golden Kamuy when I watched it, since I love Japan and was interested in learning more about the indigenous people there as well, I found the Ainu-based story of the anime very interesting
yes yes yes!!! Golden Kamuy is one of my favorites, I'm so glad it got a mention. it's hilarious, it's got a really intriguing plot, all the information about the ainu is woven into the story really well, I love Asirpa's character... and the manga just recently concluded its last chapter, so it's a complete series, at least in book form!
Golden Kamuy is very underrated. Not to mention it's comedy is peak too. But it's got some sus moments 😂 nothing worse than JJBA. Golden Kamuy is one of my heavy favorites. It's like Vinland Saga and Gin Tama in one series.
Golden kamuy is really exciting but unfortunately underrated one. I’m glad my Japanese teacher recommended it to me, looking forward for final season ❤
Hajime no ippo is so underrated. You really feel the characters grow up as you read, the slice of life portions and fight scenes are absolutely top notch as well.
YEP, I stopped watching anime so I can focus on real life things but I only read Hajime no ippo and Dragon now. Decided to watch and read those only. I liked Naruto and black clover too but they didn’t reach my heart like Hajime no ippo and Dragon ball did. I’ve watched many animes like steins gate and monster but dragon ball and hajime no ippo and Dragon ball are the only ones I’ll stick with.
@@komugi_555 it's still not that big outside Japan ig but this anime and manga will definitely age like fine wine. I personally love Golden kamuy very much.
For me One Piece... Feels like watching a lot of genre in a single anime... Comedy action adventure romance tragedy... It's goofy but can be serious as well.. peak shonen for me
This video was great to see. It’s really interesting how open the general public are about anime in Japan compared to other countries, but it’s definitely becoming more mainstream and openly talked about worldwide for sure. One Piece is my favourite anime as it just has so many things going for it that it’s hard not to fall in love with it every time I watch or read it. There’s so many great anime out there though for sure that seeing random peoples preferences is just interesting.
It's Pretty Long but that's Not issue for Me, I am On 195th Episode, Finished Skypia arc but Instead of Arlong Arc, I didn't Like Any of The Arc 100%, But What do U say, Should i wait till Ennies lobby and Marineford arc as My Friends say That's Pretty Much 10/10
@@stoicx139 I can't blame you, skypiea is not one of the best arcs, but I highly recommend waiting until water 7/ennies lobby. It gets really good, and from then on it only gets better. There may be some boring and dragged out parts too, but if you keep watching I'm certain that you won't regret it.
I highly recommend you to watch Jujutsu Kaisen. I am someone who's actually very picky about what manga/what anime to read. There are many famous animes I've not watched yet but I don't mind about it. I had started watching Jujutsu Kaisen a few days ago and I got so attached to all of the characters and the overall story. There's action, comedy, sorcery and the charatcers are sooo relateable! If you do find time to watch anime, I really recommend Jujutsu Kaisen!
I’m currently half way through but the snail pace bores the hell out of me and makes me feel like I’m watching one episode for an hour 😂 the story isn’t that interesting and from the characters I only like Itadori and Gojo, but I wouldn’t say I’m attached to them lol
Jujutsu Kaisen's problem it lacks origin stories and background to the world building the thing that carries the show is some of the characters in the show are extreemly likable like the mc and GOJO. Power scaling makes no sense in the anime origin of power has no sense in the anime. overall good characters with bad world building. Still overall is a good show to watch i give it 7.5/10 easy. There are mutch better shows with better world building and characters AOT/Astra lost in space for example 2 amazing anime 1 of them probably the most popular anime the other one the most underrated anime ever.
@@fracmas5481 that’s it, origin stories and background, is what makes a viewer invested in the characters even when I’m watching fights and I’m supposed to favor one side I just don’t care enough and I’m spacing out and checking how long until the end of the episode whereas Demon Slayer and Tokyo Revengers makes a viewer invested in the characters, worrying about them and crying at their deaths
The problem is i like slow paced animes. In my world a perfect anime of 20 episodes 17 of those would be invested in world building and charcter development and 3 in fighing.Thats why i liked demon slayer season 1 more than season 2 season 1 invested more time in character development. The problem with jujutsu kaisen is they dont do anything with the slow pacing like for example the students are suposedly studying/training to become better curse users but how are they doing that how is their power lvl increasing nothing is shown nothing is explained so offcourse u cant get emotionaly attached.
@@fracmas5481 good point, yeah I guess I don’t mind slow pacing if they’re doing something with it, but in JJK the slow pacing is just characters doing nothing of importance
The one who says he doesn't watch a lot of anime but still ended up answering Major got my respect. Sports anime hasn't been well received before tho with the rise of Kuroko no Basuke, they started to be well accepted on recent times. But Major was really one of those sports anime which is old but grows with you, seeing how Goro started as a kid on S1 and by the end of S6, he ended up getting a family and even retiring from the sport he played as a kid. Truly a masterpiece.
There have been a few giants that provoked popularity in sports anime. From Captain Tsubaba, Hajime no Ippo and Slam Dunk to KnB, Haikyuu etc. I am very glad to see a rise in production value of sports anime in recent years. Still waiting for Baby Steps S3 and One Outs S2.
I personally like some spokon, but more on boxing/martial arts, being myself a (very low-key) martial artist. But I would suggest also "Touch", always in baseball. It's not old-school but also not recent. It starts with an apparently "easy" plot, but it's very moving.
Chibi maruko chan is such a classic !! so happy that it's well liked by young adults despite being made for children. I used to watch it a lot on TV when I was younger in China, so hearing about it makes me feel nostalgic and glad ! Same goes for crayon shin chan, I even have the dvds at home. Would recommend for any ages🙏
Growing up i started watching DBZ and Yu-Gi-Oh it was me and my brothers watching DBZ together on TV and that’s when i fell in love with Anime we would play games on PSP 1 and 2. I would also collect Yu-Gi-Oh cards i was obsess with them when i was a kid. Then growing a bit older i started watching Pokemon and Naruto, just like Yu-Gi-Oh cards i would collect Pokemon cards and play. But once i started watching “Naruto Shippuden” fell in love with it straight away and still. Thank you Masashi Kishimoto you legend made my childhood, Anime life interesting and amazing well done with your work man.
I have two most favorite anime: Ranma ½ and Full Metal Alchemist. I grew up watching both so, they have a really special place in my heart. However, most recently, I've fallen in love with both Demon Slayer and Spy x Family. I've been having a blast both reading the manga and watching the anime for both series 🥺
for someone who does not watch anime regularly, I would recommend to watch Jujutsu Kaisen. it is short (one season released so far and I think a second season is scheduled). it is strong in action, story, and characters. it is excellent in animation. I don't know if it is my favorite of all time but some anime is so long that if you are just getting into it, it might be intimidating or prevent you from enjoying because you feel like you can never get to the end and have a sense of completing it. another one which I just found recently which is really good is Ping Ping the Animation. the animation is really excellent. also the story and characters are really well done and it is a short anime (one season).
Agreed, I'd also suggest Fire Force. Old school mixed with new school. The animation and sounds are amazing. Just like Jujutsu Kaisen it's amazingly accurate to the Manga as well.
This was a fun set of interviews to listen to. Personally, I absolutely adore “Spirited Away,” and would have to rate it as my top favorite Ghibli film. A few other gems are “Mary and the Witch’s Flower,” “The Secret World of Arrietty,” “Belle” (in Japanese, I think the title translates, “The Dragon and the Freckled Princess”), and “Violet Evergarden.” Also, just about anything else by Hayao Miyazaki is incredibly beautiful in both visuals and story, but it would take too long to list all of them here.
@@catalinalagunas4589 There are plenty of different perspectives and discussions among fans on what constitutes “anime,” but I have heard multiple people, including someone who is part Japanese and lived in Japan, say the word itself is just the Japanese word for “animation.” (Likewise, “manga” is the Japanese word for “comics.”) Because it is the Japanese version of this word, a lot of people outside Japan use the word anime to specifically describe any form of animated film or series that comes from Japan, which includes Ghibli. Within Japan, I’ve been told it can also simply refer to anything animated, whether of Japanese origin or not.
I can't explain how happy it made me to hear that guy say that inazuma eleven is his favourite. I've always loved watching it since I was a kid and it's one of the first anime that came to my mind when he said "what's your favourite anime?" it's great to hear someone have the same answer as you cause I didn't think anyone would say it! Props to him!! 🙌❤
very beautiful video 🌻 my favs are dorohedoro, fate apocrypha and code geass. can’t decide which is my no 1. also i started one piece and i like it so far as the characters were very thoughtfully created!
I love how respectful the interviewer and interviewees are to each other. Maybe I have been watching the news too much, but I get the sense that if you were to do this same interview in the US that interviewees would end up talking over the interviewer or interupting.
Been a fan of Shoujo/Shounen, Slice of life, Romance, Supernatural animes since I was younger and now I'm trying other genres. It was quite a fun and cool experience seeing how animes change over the years as how people's tastes in anime do so. Ps. When the girl said "Violet Evergarden", it kinda felt like I'm watching one of the scenes where Violet's friend called her 🤣
I'm Brazilian and my favorite anime is Dragon ball. animes like Dragon ball, Naruto, Saint seya, Inazuma eleven, One Piece, Pokemon and others became quite famous around here. Brazil has the largest number of Japanese descendants outside of Japan, it is no wonder that it is probably one of the most mixed-race countries in the world. Japanese culture is very famous here in Brazil. 🇧🇷🇯🇵
@@musicgospel3626 Gosto de Attack on Titan, Demon Slayer, Jujutsu no Kaisen, One punch man, Fumetall brotherhood, Re:zero, Steins:gate, Evangelion... mas parei de assistir pois sou muito ocupado no trabalho.

I have to say Jujutsu Kaisen quickly became my all time favorite (even got myself a tattoo and yes there‘ll be more lol) out of all the ones I‘ve seen. But Attack on Titan is definitely up there for me as well. I also read the manga series of both of them and love them !
I started watching Golden Kamuy after seeing this video and really enjoyed it, I also started reading the manga because the anime is currently on a hiatus. Thank you for the video, it's appreciated.
Thanks for the video! My first multi-part anime and my favorite is "Haikyuu!!". Thanks to this anime, I started taking better care of my health and started doing sports.
There are so many great animes out there. But my personal favorites will forever be like this: 1. One Piece 2. Meitantei Conan 3. Literally all Studio Ghibli and/or Hayao Myazaki movies, especially Mononoke, Chihiro, Totoro, Kiki’s Delivery Service, Nausicaä, Castle in the Sky, Howl‘s Moving Castle The Cat Returns and Ponyo… 🤷🏻♂️ I’ve seen many other Animes and I think many of them are great but for me there’s not a single one yet that could win over any of the above listed ones… 🙏
I live in the states and I am surprised that nobody mentioned "Sailor Moon"😱😭 lol that was my first introduction into Japanese anime as a kid, followed by "Tekkaman Blade" (US adaption was called "Teknoman") whom I swear I was going to marry when I grew up 😅 This was a very interesting video. "Attack on Titan" is very popular amongst all my friends too, and I was never a "Naruto" fan until I laid eyes on Itachi Uchiha 😍🥰🤩 Besides this, I also love your videos on dating foreigners. New subscriber here!😃
You can watch the most commonly mentioned ones in these interviews because they get popular for a reason. :) I haven't watched anime in years but the anime that I think about almost every day is Hikaru no Go. It made me love Go and it made enough on an emotional impact on me that I think about it constantly. I also liked that it was pretty calm since I'm a calm person. Naruto etc was really good but it's sometimes too loud and busy for what mood I'm in.
If you're looking for something calm I can recommend Aria (gondolas on the canals of Mars) or Tamayura. Both excellent shows by Jun'ichi Sato. Yuru Camp was also nice quiet fun.
its really interesting to see people in japan who have a go-to anime that isnt one of the big popular ones! makes me happy knowing everyone really has their own tastes
1:59 *Violet Evergarden* 2:58 *Horimiya* *One Piece* *_I really loved these as well_** ♡* Found more to watch so Arigato Takashi san for this interview.
I would recommend watching Vinland Saga, to your eternity, Death Note, Jujutsu Kaisen, Attack on Titan, and all the movies from Ghibli are worth watching as well
The anime that got me into anime in general (only had watched Naruto growing up) was “ Akame Ga Kill “ it’s a 22 episode anime so it won’t take 2 years of watching to see how the show concludes, and it’s such a good anime with amazing fight scene animations and crazy amounts of feels.
I just started really getting into anime. I like Gurren Lagann, Cowboy Bebop, Attack on Titan, Demon Slayer, Jujutsu Kaisen...and I'm currently watching Tokyo Ghoul and like it so far...but, there are so many good ones that I still want to watch.
It's better to read Tokyo ghoul manga. The anime took out important characters and change alot of the scenes that were Important for the plot and story
I'm usually really open minded and non-judgmental about favorites of anything, but when it comes to anime, I strongly feel Lupin should be on everyone's list. It's my favorite by far. Maybe not all of the earlier stuff, but seasons 4 and 5 are amazing. Season 4 episode 20 is one of the most moving things I've ever seen.
Being from the west I can not say enough on how much the DragonBall franchise has done for Anime around the world. But being born in the 80's There are TOO MANY gems from that era. Voltron, Speed Racer, GatchaMen, The Flying House, Gigantor, AstroBoy, Ranma 1/2, Tank Police, Vampire Hunter D, Project-Ako, Sailor Moon, Yu Yu Hakusho, Roboteck/Matcross, Dirty Pair, BubbleGum Crisis, Then There is Ghost in the Shell and Akira, the 2 major stand alone power houses that all my friends knew about.
Of course there will be many seasonals to watch, but my all time recommendation for now (not including names that got many recommendations such as HxH, AoT, etc): 1. World Trigger (if you like battle and strategy, this anime is the best) 2. To aru Kagaku no Railgun (or Toaru series in general especially the LN and manga) 3. Soul Eater (and read the manga as well, so many great arcs didn't make it to the anime) 4. Magi 5. Akatsuki no Yona 6. Sangatsu no Lion 7. Natsume Yuujinchou (I know this series is big on Japan, but overseas anime watcher should try it too!) 8. Saiki Kusuo 9. Gintama For manga: 1. Twin Star Exorcists / Sousei no Onmyouji (I wish the anime get a reboot that adapt the full manga story) > If you like Jujutsu Kaisen, this series is highly recommended 2. Oshi no Ko, a manga about the dark side of entertainment industry 3. Takopi
omg world trigger is so good! everytime people ask for a recommendation, i always told them about this! i wonder why some people didnt watch world trigger.. it's a really good one..
@LJU 733 Hey! I also love Code Geass, on some aspects they have the same feelings. Even tho the plot is totally different, in terms of battle strategy I like World Trigger more. All the side characters actually has brains and didn't become a burden, and the anime adaptation is excellent (they told us what the characters are thinking so we don't get lost). There are some weak episodes (especially the earlier ones) and 1 filler arc (that some won't mind if you skipped it because it didn't offer anything to the main plot and has false understanding of the power system), but I assure you if you like battle and strategy AND war, give World Trigger a go.
I’m heading to Japan in a week to be an exchange student for a term, and I’ve loved watching your videos! I love anime and am glad that I’ll be surrounded by other people who do, too :)
Hope your experience will be better than mine. In my generation many japanese still had a big stigma against Anime and people who liked it. Mentioning you like Anime/Manga alone was often enough to be deemed an Otaku and being isolated.
Aaaaaa I love the person who said Inazuma Eleven is their fav. I’ve loved the series so much since I was a kid and the fandom is so dead rn that I can’t even find a person to talk abt it. It’s my comfort anime and I’ll never shut up abt that.
I was obsessed with inazuma eleven when I was a kid. I bought all the games and would hide my DS under my pillow at night so I can play it past bedtime lmao
Naruto & Bleach connected with me, as i gravitated towards specific characters in the show like itachi from Naruto, and byakuya from Bleach. Both are interesting and unique characters which made me love the show even more. For beginners i would say Demon Slayer is a great show to watch, because it isn't that long so you can complete it and secondly the story is great too.
Inazuma eleven and crayon shinchan brings back lot of memories. It was one of the first anime telecasted in India along with dragon ball and doraemon. After during my pre teen i really used to enjoy anime even though I didn't knew it was anime.
Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann is hilarious. It is also a series made specifically for anime so the scenes are more action packed and less drawn out than those based on manga.
The guy who said Inazuma eleven instantly brought back memories from my childhood. Man I loved that show when I was small and living in India had seen it in hindi dub
Violet Evergarden will change your view.. its beautiful in many ways.. the story.. the art.. the development.. it is the only anime I can give 9.9 points out of 10
"Psycho Pass" is a great show! I saw it when I was a teenager in the early 2010s but the animation and story still hold up to this day when I watch it as an adult. Literally one of the smartest animes I have ever seen in terms of the themes and questions it deals with and I think one even non-anime Western fans can casually enjoy if they like Sci-Fi
Same here, I first watched it in 2014 as a teenager still and loved it immediately, rewatched it a few times - last time last month 😂 and it ages well, or rather it’s not getting old at all!
It's based on Minority Report, one of the best sci-fi movies out there, but it has its own twists and turns. Currently watching and loving it! Can't help loving the villain too lol.
I love the Big 3. But my personal favorite among them is Bleach. My very first anime, I started watching since elementary school and waited for like 10 years till the series comeback. I love the artwork, the lore, the character design and clothing, the backstories, and the fact that Ichigo isn’t the regular shōnen protagonist full of confidence and determination; He’s a regular guy who just wants to protect the ones he loves. Worthy mentions are: Monster, Neon Genesis Evangelion and Great teacher Onizuka.
@@richardakasunny5977 Hmm I’d say more like Naruto and Luffy. Ichigo definitely has a few shonen characteristics such as willpower, super powers, friends he would die to, but he hasn’t that crazy big dream (eg. “I wanna be Hokage” or “the Pirate king”) and he’s not a prodigy or a child of a prophecy like the above two. At the start of the series we see a typical guy who realizes that the powers he possesses can cause trouble to his loved ones (family and friends) and that’s why he fights. Nothing more.
@@FIREDAN075 I don’t mean Luffy by “prophecy child”. I mean Naruto. Luffys a prodigy. Especially if you consider what’s happening in the latest manga chapters...
I can understand why so many people said attack on titan or jujutsu kaisen naruto or one piece. I also watched them but they can never be my favorite one. I think trying not popular animes can also be an option. This popular animes were good but animes like dororo or higurashi no naku and violet evergarden give you sth special, a strong emotion to feel and let you think and feel more deeply. That's why i really love anime.

1:40 When she said “Slam Dunk” my face lit up. It’s the anime that got me really into anime and not a lot of people know about it. Such a classic treasure and happy to know it’s still a favorite for some.
Did you read the manga though?
It's actually very popular in Japan, I'm not sure if it's popular in the U.S.
Yeah, I was also really happy with the guy that said Inazuma Eleven, that was the first anime I've watched for real
Simp lord
The anime Is kinda bad compared to the manga
Naruto, One Piece, Full Metal Alchemist, Attack on Titan, Death Note, and Code Geass are all very good. Even for non-anime people, it's kind of easy to get into them - Compelling stories and great characters.
problem is one piece pacing (maybe naruto too) aint that good and people might stop at like episode 100 or so
@@TheCodingGengarYT That's a good point.
Dress Rosa was a nightmare in Anime Format, while being excellent as a Manga.
tokyo ghoul as well (if ur into that type of stuff)
ofc not the anime, im talkin bout the manga version. they did tokyo ghoul dirty in the anime
It feels impossible to get newer fans into those series.
this is actually very common in Japan since anime is more popular than anything else on the TV
I have a Japanese girlfriend, her parents have a huge manga collection
Ah yes, a proper man of culture, I'd also recommend watching Hajime no Ippo
And that’s what’s clearly missing in todays international anime community.
Everyone is always talking about what’s new - this and that, only series that everyone is talking, is the only series worth watching.
Any series that came out last year or more is already considered “old news.” I don’t even keep up with brand new seasonal anime anymore, unless it’s a series that REALLY grabs my interest. Otherwise, I’m still watching “old” series.

Monster really stands alone. I can't think of any other anime like it.
The first half was great, then it became more and more cringy for me.

Because manga is more socially acceptable there.
I'm Japanese.
Many people read manga.
Manga readers don't really watch anime.
It’s because of the manga/anime divide, a lot of manga readers don’t like anime, it’s a thing where a lot of people say they don’t watch anime but what they really mean is the don’t actively watch anime, if they see something they think is interesting they will watch it though

There are mutch better shows with better world building and characters AOT/Astra lost in space for example 2 amazing anime 1 of them probably the most popular anime the other one the most underrated anime ever.
@@fracmas5481 that’s it, origin stories and background, is what makes a viewer invested in the characters
even when I’m watching fights and I’m supposed to favor one side I just don’t care enough and I’m spacing out and checking how long until the end of the episode
whereas Demon Slayer and Tokyo Revengers makes a viewer invested in the characters, worrying about them and crying at their deaths

Sports anime hasn't been well received before tho with the rise of Kuroko no Basuke, they started to be well accepted on recent times. However, most recently, I've fallen in love with both Demon Slayer and Spy x Family. I've been having a blast both reading the manga and watching the anime for both series 🥺
Demon Slayer was amazing right off the bat for me too!
I thought didnt know about ranma
Ranma and FMA are great! Also grew up watching them.
for someone who does not watch anime regularly, I would recommend to watch Jujutsu Kaisen. it is short (one season released so far and I think a second season is scheduled). it is strong in action, story, and characters. it is excellent in animation.
Its terrible
@@kaisendbd what one is terrible?
@@carmineorlando8253 that guy said every anime that was mentioned in the video besides Gintama is mid/trash lmfao don’t even bother with him

Ghibli films are not anime 👀 anime is the animated adaption from a manga
Spirited is one of the 2 best movies ever
@@jodeciS It’s an amazing film! I always come away from that one so inspired to create.

I'm glad Japanese people enjoy Gintama, it's one of those gems that need more attention.
It's literally one of the top 5 highest rated and most watched anime, what are you taking about lol.
Gintama speaks like content outside of Japan Lmao
Gintama has a lot of Japanese parodies, so if you know the culture and news, you can enjoy it 100 times more.
7:32 "okay thank you for watching so far, how was it? That was interesting-" 😂 😂 😂
Literally what i wanted to say, its a great anime, the story is very well built
You thought it would get overshadowed by all the other popular anime but it had an appearance on the video. I can imagine the hapiness
It is my favorite too
Yo salte de alegría, fue mi primer anime, lo he repetido tantas veces que me lo sé a memoria, me dieron ganas de verlo nuevamente

very beautiful video 🌻 my favs are dorohedoro, fate apocrypha and code geass. can’t decide which is my no 1. also i started one piece and i like it so far as the characters were very thoughtfully created!
I love how respectful the interviewer and interviewees are to each other. Maybe I have been watching the news too much, but I get the sense that if you were to do this same interview in the US that interviewees would end up talking over the interviewer or interupting.
yup

I have to say Jujutsu Kaisen quickly became my all time favorite (even got myself a tattoo and yes there‘ll be more lol) out of all the ones I‘ve seen.
But Attack on Titan is definitely up there for me as well. I also read the manga series of both of them and love them !
The one who said ONEPIECE and NARUTO is blessed 🙌❤️( No discrimination between these two)
I started watching Golden Kamuy after seeing this video and really enjoyed it, I also started reading the manga because the anime is currently on a hiatus. Thank you for the video, it's appreciated.
Thanks for the video!
My first multi-part anime and my favorite is "Haikyuu!!". Thanks to this anime, I started taking better care of my health and started doing sports.
There are so many great animes out there.
But my personal favorites will forever be like this:
1. One Piece
2. Meitantei Conan
3. Literally all Studio Ghibli and/or Hayao Myazaki movies, especially Mononoke, Chihiro, Totoro, Kiki’s Delivery Service, Nausicaä, Castle in the Sky, Howl‘s Moving Castle The Cat Returns and Ponyo… 🤷🏻♂️
I’ve seen many other Animes and I think many of them are great but for me there’s not a single one yet that could win over any of the above listed ones… 🙏
Spirited Away is a pretty good film too (by Ghibli). It is the very first anime I ever watched.

2 YEARS LOL. BUT AINT THAT THE TRUTH.
Literally watching akame ga kill rn
It sucks lolll everyone just dies and the storyline is shit
Akame Ga Kill is top 8 anime for me. It's way good!
Akame ga Kill was my first anime… 😂. After that I never trusted in anyones plot armour
Watch bleach
You should watch jojos bizzare adventure

Great video, the people are happy to talk to you because you seem so nice.
Of course there will be many seasonals to watch, but my all time recommendation for now (not including names that got many recommendations such as HxH, AoT, etc):
1. World Trigger (if you like battle and strategy, this anime is the best)
2. To aru Kagaku no Railgun (or Toaru series in general especially the LN and manga)
3. Soul Eater (and read the manga as well, so many great arcs didn't make it to the anime)
4. Magi
5. Akatsuki no Yona
6. Sangatsu no Lion
7. Natsume Yuujinchou (I know this series is big on Japan, but overseas anime watcher should try it too!)
8. Saiki Kusuo
9. Gintama
For manga:
1. Twin Star Exorcists / Sousei no Onmyouji (I wish the anime get a reboot that adapt the full manga story) > If you like Jujutsu Kaisen, this series is highly recommended
2. Oshi no Ko, a manga about the dark side of entertainment industry
3. Takopi
omg world trigger is so good! everytime people ask for a recommendation, i always told them about this! i wonder why some people didnt watch world trigger.. it's a really good one..
Oshi no ko's so good!
Oshi no Ko very nice :)
@LJU 733 i dont really know since im not finish watching code geass:) sorry:( but you have to tried watching it, it is really a good anime
As an Indian , Doraemon, Shinchan are the first animes due to which we know other animes today .

How's it been?
Hope your experience will be better than mine. In my generation many japanese still had a big stigma against Anime and people who liked it. Mentioning you like Anime/Manga alone was often enough to be deemed an Otaku and being isolated.
Welcome to Japan!! I hope you could enjoy your stay in Japan!
Aaaaaa I love the person who said Inazuma Eleven is their fav. I’ve loved the series so much since I was a kid and the fandom is so dead rn that I can’t even find a person to talk abt it. It’s my comfort anime and I’ll never shut up abt that.
I am also here
A fan of Inazuma 11
I was obsessed with inazuma eleven when I was a kid. I bought all the games and would hide my DS under my pillow at night so I can play it past bedtime lmao
Naruto & Bleach connected with me, as i gravitated towards specific characters in the show like itachi from Naruto, and byakuya from Bleach. Both are interesting and unique characters which made me love the show even more. For beginners i would say Demon Slayer is a great show to watch, because it isn't that long so you can complete it and secondly the story is great too.
Ditto that but Neji and Ulquiorra
You should watch One piece tooo it's part of big 3 and have a amazing story adventures and fights
Inazuma eleven and crayon shinchan brings back lot of memories. It was one of the first anime telecasted in India along with dragon ball and doraemon. After during my pre teen i really used to enjoy anime even though I didn't knew it was anime.
Yehey! Jujutsu Kaisen! Finally, hearing it from your interviewees!

"Psycho Pass" is a great show! I saw it when I was a teenager in the early 2010s but the animation and story still hold up to this day when I watch it as an adult. Shogo Makishima is BAE
It's based on Minority Report, one of the best sci-fi movies out there, but it has its own twists and turns. Currently watching and loving it! Can't help loving the villain too lol.

Glad to hear Golden kamuy gets some recognition, it's one of my personal favorite ❤️
I'm watching Great Teacher Onizuka and I'm absolutely in love with it.
Ichigo is the definition of an average protagonist… him and naruto go hand in hand
@@miltos963 luffy is not prohecy child too, read it more carefully
@@FIREDAN075 I don’t mean Luffy by “prophecy child”. I mean Naruto. Luffys a prodigy. Especially if you consider what’s happening in the latest manga chapters...
I can understand why so many people said attack on titan or jujutsu kaisen naruto or one piece. I also watched them but they can never be my favorite one. I think trying not popular animes can also be an option. This popular animes were good but animes like dororo or higurashi no naku and violet evergarden give you sth special, a strong emotion to feel and let you think and feel more deeply. That's why i really love anime.
