when she talks about how she looks forward to fasting, i didn’t think people understood that. during a fasting period, i feel so much lighter, energized, and agile. working out while fasting feels amazing.
Fasting is great. But, it takes self-discipline and mental toughness. Try it. It'll change your life. You'll develop a completely different relationship with food.
I completely agree! Since I was little I have been an emotional eater and when I started IF I no longer could rely on food! Has changed my life forever!
people over complicate things, it's really simple. When you eat, insulin goes up and starts to do it's job which is storing food/energy for later. When you don't eat and your insulin is down your body will burn fat for energy. Pretty basic idea to understand.
You don’t need to eat at all while fasting. Starve yourself.....if you have no food in your stomach. It will use the belly fat for energy therefore burning the fat
@@20-NYC if it puts body into starvation mode our species wouldnt be alive today. Feast and famine. It would take a lot longer than one day ot 16 hours for our bodies to go into starvation mode. The problem is we never give our bodies enough time to bring down glucose because we think we need breakfast, snack, lunch, snack, dinner, dessert...we def did not have those opportunities before...the myths surrounding the statement of starvation mode was created by Big Food to keep.us buying their products.
I am 70 years old and I have struggled with obesity for years. Four months ago I watched an interview to a top model and she talked about the intermittent fasting. I did my research and started my journey the same week. Twenty pounds and many inches are out of my body in only four months. I can’t say that it is a diet. It is an eating style. I eat a normal breakfast at 9 or 10 am. (Coffee, bread, eggs, cheese, juice). I eat moderately during the day and eat my last meal at 5:00pm, every day. It is not what you eat, it is when you eat!!!
Damond Williams yes.... from the fast food and junk food that’s too accessible and pushed by corporations...salt, fat, and sugar create these addictions.
Damond Williams yes we are - because our food is laden with crap that makes us so. I’m in Thailand now and I feel so much better. Don’t want to go home this week :(
That breakfast is the most important meal of the day is the biggest lie created by cereal companies. Most people are not even hungry in the morning, but they up their glucose level as soon as they open their eyes believing that they must have breakfast. Yes, breakfast is the most important meal, but you can break your fast at 12 or 2 or 4 or whenever you're hungry.
Yes totally agree, we are conditioned to eat as soon as we wake, but waking up is not a reason to eat, being hungry is a reason to eat ! I’m never hungry when I wake
Yes, and the reason for that is because your body spends the time that you don't eat healing itself. Digestion slows the healing process and if you're eating throughout the day up until you sleep, some of the time sleeping is still digestion. If you IF, you'll find that many of your ailments disappear. Once your body gets used to it, it's very easy.
God bless you and help you with your battle you're such a strong person , but I have to ask why is it that people think it's a new remedy or diet that is very healthy when actually it's been around for ages in the Muslim community since it is an obligation to fast for a month in Islam and that is because of the great healthy benefits it gives to your body and to also sympathize with poor people and eventually be an eye opener to help others , I strongly advise you to read more about fasting in Islam and good luck with your recovery
Great for her, I lost 74 pounds intermittent fasting way before it ever even hit main stream. Didn’t even know it was called intermittent fasting.. from 199 to 125 in less than 6 months
Denise Moreno Denise Moreno I skipped breakfast and ate 1 meal only after 9 sometimes 8pm. After I gained self control I skipped fasting on weekends but only after I could go the day not craving tuns of crap and just eat normal
raphaella akl I did keto throughout the fasting so I wasn’t eating super Carby at night at all just healthy fats but I did hit a plateau a few times and I had no idea why it discourage the heck out of me the fact that I wasn’t eating but not losing weight but I started incorporating a few minutes more mins of exercising into that like in my living room I was doing about five minutes a day I know that sounds ridiculous but I was trying to keep it super practical but I changed it to about 10 minutes a day and I started losing weight again. The first time I did intermittent fasting which at the time it was like a crash diet thing for me the weight came off I was around 23 years old since then I’ve done it at least three times and this last time I swear it was the hardest hence I had to exercise in addition to the fasting. It’s been well over a year now and I’ve actually maintained my weight this last time and some body definition also that I’ve literally NEVER had lol
LOL - I also lost weight doing intermittent fasting. 50 lbs in a little more than a year (I was not in a big hurry; so, I did it gradually). I also thought it was nice, and my husband is really happy about it! But not that big a deal.
I’ve been doing IF for only a week and lost 5 lbs. (I also cut out refined sugar) My dark under eyes are gone and I have energy that I haven’t had in YEARS. This is something I can do for life. 🙌
I did this by accident because I got sick due to h-pylori but I noticed when I was drinking ginger when I couldn't really eaten nothing I naturally lost weight and I noticed my stomach was healing to all the inflammation
@@sangeetharavindran87 Just keep at it! Don’t give up!! If you haven’t already done so try cutting out refined sugars, processed foods, etc. I know they said you can practically eat what you want as long as you’re fasting and eating within the right timeframe, BUT we also have to remember we all have different bodies and can’t always eat what others eat without consequences! I hope that makes sense! Hope all goes well…It WILL go well just don’t give up ok!🙏🏽❤️
@@letstacoboutit5338 you should definitely count the calories you’re eating, since you also have to be in a calorie deficit which means to burn more calories from what you eat.
@@AndyAndy-ib6tp you can eat it here and there to keep yourself motivated, but I recommend try not to overeat, eat clean, and often eat some junk if you’d like. I did this and lost 8Ibs in 2 weeks, but then quit because thanksgiving came and now planning to do after Christmas.
You may be joking, but that is one of the reasons why I'm doing this atm. All the other diets that I tried just cost me way too much money, cause healthy foods in large quantities are expensive and as a student I just can't afford it. This actually sounds like a way to cut down on the expensive bills and make the food that I buy last longer....
for those saying this is a fad and that the way to lose weight is just to eat less: for starters fasting is NOT a fad. humans have been fasting for thousands of years. it is standard practice in many cultures. and if you research it you will discover why it is very effective for weight loss. secondly, trying to eat less every day does not work long term, especially if you have issues around food like out of control appetite and cravings. eric berg and darren schmidt explain all of this very well. do yourselves a favour and take a look at their TH-cam channels.
You said it so well! The time I had on the segment was so short. If there was more time, I was hoping to elaborate more on these points! Thanks for sharing, Alison!
I've been doing 16-hour fasts for two weeks now and I'm already down almost 15 pounds. This really does work. It is hard for the first few days and I did get "hangry", but soon after, I began feeling so much better. It's also important not to eat junk during your eating window. I did try and limit the amount of fatty, sugar-filled, and processed foods. I did give myself a couple "cheat" days as well.
Can you share what you eat during your eating window? I have insulin resistance and before i found this out i would eat and eat and not get full and also eat out of boredom. I started IF yesterday and ive been very good but that snacking is what got me
Mercedez_ Gets_fit Yes I started IF out of laziness. I hated running to the kitchen in the morning so I decided to skip breakfast. Then I realised I was feeling fitter. So I kept moving the time until I ended up eating 99% of the time just one meal per day. Then after about Two years I saw my hair gradually but steadily changing colour. I used to feel ashamed of exposing my hair. Now my hair is so tick, shiny, long and very dark with just two patches of gray on the side that is hardly visible. Pharmaceutical companies and the NWO western medicine will never tell you the truth because they don't know either. I sleep like a baby. No single tablet in my cupboard. No doctors visit. I am 55. Let he who has ears let him hear. Those who say breakfast is the most important meal I say power to you. Your family doctor will not follow you to your grave because that's where he is taking you.
k odu that’s so awesome! I just started IF again after gaining a bunch of weight ballooning me up too 367 we’ll it’s been about 8 days and I don’t have cravings, I’m never hungry, and my fasting window is so easy! I’ve lost 8.5 pounds :) it’s pretty great. Makes life exciting actually and surprisingly
I am with you, k odu. I am 55 also, and never colored my hair. My grays are barely noticeable. Western medicine has done a lot of damage. I don't go to doctors & people find it hard to believe that I'm not on any medication. IF has been a weight loss/health miracle for me.
I started intermittent fasting three weeks ago and I have lost 8.2 kg. I was 86kg and couldn’t lose it no matter what I did. I am 78.8 kg now. What I do is i fast for between 18 to 23 hours daily. The reason I started this fasting was because I was diagnosed with high blood pressure and I have been feeling pain in my left leg since 2017. I feel happier, calmer and sleep better.
I went to HS with Sumaya. I've started the same program with a ketogenic diet. I lost a lot of body fat and gained muscle. I'm in the best shape in my life
@@BigRed2 Those "studies" are wrong. People aren't understanding what keto actually is. Today's keto diets aren't the Atkins Diet... gorging oneself on any and all kinds of meats, cheeses and tubs of mayo and lard. Do a little research and you'll find it's eating smart, focusing on healthy fats (coconut oil, olive oil, avocado, etc.) and proteins like plant proteins, nuts, seeds, beans, seafood and grass-fed meats.
I fast 16/8 with a cheat day on the weekend. I’ve lost 40 lbs so far. Since starting it three months ago, I’m way sharper at work, my mind is clearer, and I’m better at planning and multi tasking. I absolutely love it and I don’t even have to think about it. Highly recommend.
Intermittent Fasting Plan (do this every other day) - Skip breakfast (have water, black coffee or tea) - Break the fast @ 12:00pm (big salad with some protein) - Finish dinner by 8:00pm (fish with 2 different color vegetables) - No snacks - No food until noon the next day
My windows are 12 noon to 4:30pm, or 11am to 3:30pm. I shrank plus i’m short and petite, looks like when i was in middle school. From 134lbs to 106lbs in 5 months, and I walk on an empty stomach (10,000 steps) every day.
I've done intermittent fasting and I've lost 40 pounds. I started fasting after 9PM each day until about noon the following day. In the morning I skip breakfast and exercise for 30 minutes on an empty stomach (aerobic exercise-walking, bicycle, etc.) I only drink water or black coffee prior to and after exercise. When you exercise on an empty stomach in the morning it throws your body into a state of ketosis and your body burns fat faster and continues to burn fat until you eat. That's right...even after stopping exercising your body continues to burn fat until you eat something. It's amazing! I then eat a normal lunch, a mid-afternoon snack, and normal supper (eat whatever I want). The results have been incredible and I've kept the weight off! My A1-C blood sugar levels have also normalized and my blood pressure has improved. P.S. It took a few weeks to get used to the fasting period each day but I've never been hungry since then and I don't miss skipping breakfast at all.
mazatano i thought about trying this too since I saw Hugh Jackman say that he always intermittent fasts for his bofy goals. He says he eats for 8 hours. I think i am going to eaf between noon and 6 o'clock for dinner time. I saw the BBC documentary too and I hope my health gets better because I have a cold all the time.
Zeyna Nd...I hope that schedule will work for you. One really good thing about intermittent fasting is that it is flexible in terms of what specific hours you choose for fasting. In my case, exercising in the morning for 30 minutes while fasting was the key component that helped me lose weight and keep it off. For some people, like the woman in the video above, fasting alone might be all that's needed. :)
Lol It's Shizzle...It took about 8 months to lose the 40 pounds. I lost about 1 to 1.5 pounds per week so it was a gradual process. I cut back on some processed/ pre-packaged foods but continued to eat pretty much anything else I wanted so that may have delayed the weight loss somewhat. After losing 40 pounds my body stopped losing weight at that point. That's normal. Your body will only lose so much weight and then stabilize at some point when enough excess fat is gone. I've continued the fasting and exercise daily to keep my body at that stable weight and it has been stable for almost a year.
I started at 235 almost 2 weeks ago, last Friday I was 230,now I'm 226...intermittent fasting is not easy, but I have felt more energized... I do 16:8 and it works for me
I’ve done 12-16 hour fasts and lost 30+ lbs. it really does work and fast. You feel a lot better too. I will say I do try to cut out refined sugars and a lot of pre packaged foods. So it wasn’t just fasting for me. But I feel like the fasting plays a big part in it.
Been doing intermittant fasting. Eating every day from. 11:30 am to 7:30 pm. Also a ketogentic diet. I lost 64 lbs so far. Need about 40 left Very easy to do. Just eat a 8 hour window.
Is it just me or does anyone else cringe when Megyn Kelly says, "Quickly, I gotta go." at 8:22? Seemed a bit rude after giving her own non value added statement just before telling guest this....
Absolutely 16/8 is very manageable and will provide great results! If I had to guess by advising people they should eat all 3 meals in a 12 hour window the nutritionist is ensuring that cereal company's will still get paid.
Fasting actually saves your money because you dont have to spend extra money on fancy "Diet Foods". And the health benefits are mind blowing. Weight Loss is just an added bonus
Amazing how she jokes it’s near impossible. I’ve been an obese man most of my life; eating whenever-this 16/8 I’m doing is one of the easiest things I’ve done. And she’s not lying - I do look forward to fast time. It’s freedom for me.
I've been doing intermittent fasting for prolly 3 months now and have lost almost 20 lbs. I also gym and weight train to tone by body at least 4 times in a week. I have my lunch around 12:30 and then dinner around 7 and that's it. I'm so thankful I found this !!
The phrase “ Breakfast is the most important meal of the day” was created by an advertising company trying to sell more Korn Flakes. There was never a medical study .
I've been doing the 16/8 IF for a month now: I stop eating at 7pm & start eating at 11am & I have seen changes in my stomach. I suffer from bloating & it has helped me tremendously. FYI..when u do break your fast, still watch your calorie intake- don't go crazy . Exercise if you can while fasting time. Water has helped me while on fast time.
Breakfast is not the most important meal of the day! Skipping breakfast and then making healthier choices when you do eat is gonna help you burn fat so quick! 😊 im in love with IF
@Teesh L. Unless you are diabetic I cant skip meals. Just eat veggies and workout. Yoga trims fat so fast for people who dont like cardio, just sharing that tip
yah im tired of the SAD lame platitudes like that Ive tried standard dieting and now im 230lbs and I have Type II diabetes and HBP and take Metformin and 15mg of BP medication and even then I still average a BP of 140/90 Time to try something else
Max ive done is 4 days. I am currently aiming for a 7 day fast and im on day 5🎉. Such an incredible journey for my weight loss. Ive loss 40lbs since the birth of my last born
I thinks that’s when I went to one (big) meal a day. I eventually stopped doing that but I’ve just started 16 hrs off food each day to see what happens.
I’ve did 16:8 for week , then i did 18:6 for week , yesterday i did 20:4 i will keep on it till i lose 60 Ibs , so far I lost 10 Ibs without workout, tomorrow I’ll start workout with fasting 20:4 , hope i make it 🥺🥳
It work for me I lost 67 pound in 4 month from size 10-11 now size 5 unbelievable I woke up in morning I was like my pant losing I look mirror start screaming and I try everything in counter you can think of now It change my life style and I love shopping even more.
Totally agree. 12 hours sounds close to the normal way most people eat. If someone thinks it's going to be too tough to start, then they should just immerse slowly into it by adding an hour to the fasting window every week.
What I like about IF is with the limited time Im allowed to eat, I found myself eating healthy. Coz you dont want those limited time to be spent on junk foods.
19 lbs since may!! I am so happy I found this way of living..eat to live not live to eat...I do 16 hr fasting and I love it and it's so much easier than ppl think..I've tried to get my friends to try it that complain about needing to lose weight and say they can't and I hate that word..I'm the laziest person in the world and if I can do it anyone can
I feel is easy too. And free don’t cost any money nor sweat. And i do 10,000 steps a day in the early hours of the day, it’s always cold out there in the park i don’t sweat, i just shrink. 😁
Yeah it's not like he helped 1000ths of people & is backed up by doctors like Jason Fung, aswell science & history, Keep eating 8 times day, after all being obese gives you eternal life & lots of energy
Ricardo Reis IF is still young. More and more studies are changing what Doctors and fitness experts recommend. The more that have come out, the more they confirm Dr. Berg's advice. And yes, he may not do studies himself but he does base it on solid research and results from his viewers and customers. Ive lost 20 lbs and lowered my blood pressure thanks to him.
I have been doing IF since 1-15-20. I’m down 56 lbs. I feel better at 59 than I did in my 30’s and 40’s. My inflammation and joint pain from arthritis is way down. I now do ADF anywhere from 42-44 hrs. One of the best decisions I have ever done for myself.
I do the 4:3. Been doing this for 3 months so far and have lost 40lbs. I had about 65lbs to lose so I have a few more months to first goal I think. It's not easy but it's not that hard either. What I really appreciate is no meal plans and no restricted eating. I eat Tuesdays, Thursdays and all weekend and I have no guilt. I save money on food as well. It's just much easier this way and much healthier. Probably will continue with the 5:2 after hitting goal. I also do not eat any crutch meals so no 500 calories on fast days
PeaceFan1 when Megyn said "you can eat whatever you want", the crowd breathed a sigh of relief. Too bad she gave wrong info. Thanks for pointing that out 👍
Mary Guzman Understood. I was saying, besides the improper nutrition. My point is, the poster seemed to imply you couldnt lose weight doing it while eating crap. But if losing weight is a matter of calories, I dont see how you couldnt? Hope that makes sense.
I've done all them and still doing the 18 / 6.. never hungry and lost 29 pounds in 3 months. I actually have a 6 pack for the first time in 10 years.. I only work out 2 days a week and only 1/2hr per day. THIS WORKS GUYS...
I love to fast! Especially OMAD (One Meal a Day) Real food foods don’t require an ingredient list. Meats, real cheeses, fruits, vegetables, water, coffee and tea unsweetened, exercising and fasting! No matter what I’m doing, where I travel, the occasion or holiday my eating doesn’t change! I eat only the foods mentioned or I fast! No calorie counting! I eat until don’t feel like eating anymore! If the foods I eat aren’t available I continue to fast! I’ve fasted for as long as three days! I eat when I’m ready to eat! My breakfast is (Break Fast)! I don’t eat in the morning! Only black coffee and water! No bread, pastas, pastries, rices, or potatoes! I’ve not eaten any of these for over a year! I don’t miss any of the foods I’ve eliminated! I don’t cheat with foods I’ve eliminated. I don’t miss my 3xl shirts or 38 waist pants! I don’t even get on the scale anymore! With real foods and real results! No ingredient list to read. When you eat real food you get real results!
Do you eat whatever amount/food you want in your one meal or eat in a deficit with watching what you eat... I am doing the latter.. I started with 16:8 but now I am switching between 22:2 and 23:1 so yeah omad... Edit: I stopped exercising when I narrowed my eating window but I just started it again yesterday
I absolutely agree with you. I'm on the same journey as you and I've never felt better. Great advice while we're traveling, thank you for your words 👏😉
This has so many benefits. So good for you. Back in the day....everyone ate 1 meal a day. It's the natural way to do it. I did it for a month and lost 25 pounds
How do you get past the feeling like you're going to vomit? When I go too long w/o eating, my stomach acid gets all churned up, and then I feel nauseous! I also get a headache, if I go too long w/o eating. How does one get past those things? I couldn't imagine!
I lost 75lbs in 2016 with intermittent fasting. I only eat during a specific 8 hour window, for me it's 11am-7pm daily. I still eat out and eat donuts etc but only during this time frame & I lost 75lbs in a year. I'm in maintenance now. which I feel is just as hard as the actual weight loss. I posted a video on my channel about it & will gladly answer any questions anyone might have about it, if I can.
Ramadan (mandatory fasting)! Welcome to fasting! I am a Muslim and I do this for 30 days every year! Food before sun up...no food during the day...until sundown! Later in the fasting, your stomach gets smaller and your urge for food becomes less! During the day, people fasting, read , exercise, maybe sleep and even prepare a healthy meal for breaking fast! Ramadan is mandatory and helps with spiritual guidance and being closer and obedient to Our Creator! Ramadan helps with clearing the mind, body and soul! Helps to form gratefulness and piety!
Jay Dee A little bit of Everything awesome! Id probably loose more weight if I went to the gym but I don’t so I’m working on that to increase my weight loss. Still have about 250 pounds to shed
Yes. We have been taught (a myth perpetuated by our food industry), that in order to keep our metabolism high, we need to eat 6 small meals a day. Except, the only thing that does is spike our insulin levels 6 times a day. See all our fat guts? Sugar and eating/snacking all the time.
Yes they do. And also add in the GIANT servins they have at restaurants and the crap they buy at grocery stores as "food". I work as a cashier, I see what people put in their carts. I'm by no means innocent here, and need to lose a lot of weight myself. I started intermittent fasting on Tuesday, and had my second fasting day yesterday. I found it surprisingly easy to follow.
This is what I thought too, like hmmmm 12 hour window of eating IS every meal, plus snacks and dessert... what are you missing out on??? Lol I always thought typical diets tell you not To eat after 7 anyways lol
IF has worked for me. I do the 18/6 hours, I have lost 16 kg within 10 months! I am a short person and I was weighing 71kg,now I weigh 55kg and loving it😊👏
Hey tell me,, is it OK to do intermittent fasting daily, no even take one or two days break? I' thought of doing intermittent fasting for total 2-3 months everyday,, I started a week ago,, but some are saying that we should not to do it daily just do for 2-3 days a week... I'm so confused don't know what to do,, please guide me.
In my third week now doing 16-8 IF and it’s the best thing I’ve done. I thought I would binge after breaking the fast but nope... it’s helped me cut down on snacking, helps me make better food choices and I don’t eat at two am anymore because I’m not hungry during that time (I’m a late night owl lol). I was skeptical about IF but I’m glad I tried it and it will definitely be a part of my lifestyle from now on.
I did the intermittent fasting 16:8 an it was honestly not that hard the majority of the time. My eating window was 8 a.m to 4 p.m. I always went to bed at 9 when I was doing this so I wouldn't feel too hungry. But it was only really hard the first 3 days. It's worth doing this! I tried everything before this an nothing helped. A side note also with anyone that has pcos, you know how hard it is to lose weight! This will hopefully help you because it did for me.
I have used intermittent fasting for a few years now. And In a nut shell, yes it works. You should try it if you want to lose weight. A few things I’ve observed: 1. The fatter you are the faster the fat comes off And the easier it is, so people will see the greatest losses early and quickly. 2. As you get leaner and leaner, the fat loss slows as on a bell curve. The closer you get to your optimum weight the slower the loss. 3. As time goes on, your brain and metabolism adapts to your routine, and your stomach also shrinks. A Smaller stomach in and of itself helps you eat less because you feel full with less food. 4. I found that cycling on and off of it with a traditional all day eating diet can most of the time reboot your brain and hormones so that when you start it up again you’ll see good losses in the beginning until it re-adapts again. 5. Even after all this, when it comes down to it weight-loss is still calories in to calories out no matter what eating window or diet you use. So if you don’t track your calories you can end up spinning your wheels for nothing, even using IF.
citizen762 do you know what would happen if you stopped intermittent fasting? I am afraid of trying it out because I do not want to gain a lot of weight if I would decide to stop
I don't think you are not gonna gain weight! Because intermittent fasting is not a diet . As long as you eat the right amount of calories per day you are gonna be fine! Maybe you 're not gonna loose a lot of fat(so not as toned) if you stopped but the key for weight loss is always the amount of calories. If you eat 5000 calories with intermittent fasting you're gonna gain weigh for sure ! I did IF for almost 3 months and I lost 20 pounds;but there were some weeks where i didn't do it , i just ate healthy and i kept loosing weight!
Intermittent Fasting is NOT “ridiculously hard.” Easiest thing I’ve ever done! Going three days without eating WOULD be ridiculously hard fore me; for most. I could never do that. But Intermittent Fasting for 12-12 or 16-8 is EASY. I’ve been doing it (16-8) for over a year and have lost 51 pounds (first 6 months) and I am keeping it off. I feel better than I have my entire life (and I am far from young.). If you sleep 8 hours (Fasting) you are not Fasting that long during your waking hours. I stop eating 4 hours before I go to bed, I don’t eat the 8 hours I’m sleeping (obviously), and I don’t eat until I’ve been up 4 hours. BOOM...DONE. Easy. Only water during Fasting. People simply eat too often and eat too much. Our bodies really do not require that much food.
Chef Katie. I just started if on Feb 1st...I don't have a scale yet so not sure how much weight , if any has been lost...im also coupling with acv which I tried last year for 2wks. I'm excited to see wat my results will be in 3 months from now...ive always been overweight. ice fasted before for spiritual reason...so I'm familiar...
I’ve always done this, not on purpose but because I never eat breakfast as I’m never hungry when I wake up. Sometimes I only eat dinner. It’s true we really don’t need that much food.
In 6 months I lost 35kg / 77 lbs by fasting 20 hours daily 6 days a week and 1 normal day. Alcohol was permitted whenever but limited to spirits, Prosecco and seltzers and I allowed myself McDonald's 1-2 a week. The beauty of intermediate fasting is that it is extremely flexible and you can edit it to suit your own wants. It works. I slept better, my memory improved, I was never tired and I was a new person. The hardest part of the entire journey is the first 1-2 weeks to get it started. Overcome this and you will learn the secret to lifelong weight loss whilst eating whatever you want! :)
The fact that they’re referring to it as “trendy and new” has me in stitches; humans are biologically wired to be capable of fasting for long periods of time for survival purposes, this isn’t some revolutionary diet 😂😂
IF is awesome. I am 33 years old male. I went for annual checkup in April, doc told me BP is on the border, 135/90 and HbA1C 6.1. I was 168lbs at that time. He said change lifestyle, drink 3+ liter water, cut down salt and excercise and follow up in a month, if stats don't improve then he would start the medications. Started Fasting once a week, cut down sugar, lots of water. In one month BP was down to 125/85 weight 158 lbs(-10 lbs). He was impressed and said continue whatever I am doing. Started eating only twice a day. Today I am down another 15 lbs(143 lbs),BMI is 20 and BP in the range of 115/70. I feel energetic all day and best thing is I wake up in the morning refreshed without needing alarms. Unless you have major health issues, Just Do it guys!
I’ve fasted 16/8 method ... sometimes 20/4 and sometimes 1 huge meal a day depending how I feel that day. 4 months in I’ve lost 20kg and feel amazing!! Its just a daily routine now that I feel can last a lifetime :)
I do the 12 hour fasting been doing it for 3 days 7:30pm to 9:30am -10am small breakfast light healthy lunch at 2:30pm and healthy dinner around 6:30-7pm fast starts at 7:30pm. I have drop a few pounds already weighed in following Friday 😊
This has been my diet regimen for over 20 years with great results. I created myself and didn’t have a name for it. People I’ve told about it thought I was crazy; I guess I’m not
@@Lilbunnyfoo - the simplest way is really more like regular eating of healthy people. Like the "intermittent fasting" I have started, which is not eat after 6 pm, then do not eat before 10 am. That is a 16:8 schedule, but many days I actually do not eat before noon, so that is an 18:6 schedule. It is really amazingly easy most of the time for me - I do not like eating breakfast most days anyway, my major problem that has put on 80 extra pounds was eating throughout the evenings. Amazingly, this has not been very tough for me so far! And yes, I feel much MUCH better and look forward to losing the excess weight and wear some of my former clothes (I never got rid of them, lol).
yes fasting makes you feel like a winner, you dont really feel hungry, just makes you feel like you have abs, i do 2 day fasts all the time, fasting puts food into its perspective. i always have lemon water for breakfast. and enjoy walks
I am now at 18: 6. It was hard at first but it's a breeze now. I just realised today that i broke my fast at 22 hours 5 minutes and i never felt anything. Its a wonderful lifestyle. I failed terribly at dieting.
I've been IF since April 18 and I lost almost 30 lbs...I love it. I watched a lot of youtube videos about it, and there are so many benefits and I feel great. I eat between 1-6:30 or 7pm daily.
Why is Joy Bauer on there talking about how hard cause it really isn't and you just make people not even try. Go 12 hours, 14 hours, 16 hours and then try a full day or do 5:2 (fast diet)... so instead of 3 days fasting, do 2. It's not that difficult. We've just bought in that it will be difficult when the truth is, its ALL IN YOUR HEAD! Like the woman said, give it 2 weeks and you'll see that it really isn't this massive difficult undertaking that you're making it out to be. IT IS WAYYYYY EASIER than low calorie and way more effective, satisfying, enjoyable and tastes sooo much better!!!
Gear Turner I’m guessing that means 16 hours fasting and an 8 hour eating window? It’d be a lot more helpful if you gave me the time of your eating window and what you ate.
I'm up to 20 hour fasts. Feel great. Not that hard once you get over the hump. I drink lots of mineral water throughout my fast. Combo of keto(ish) and IF - down 30.
I started with 16:8 then noticed each day I wasn't hungry and delayed eating until hunger hit. I eventually made my way to OMAD. I love the freedom of eating once a day. Less planning, shopping, cooking, and clean-up. OMAD is liberating and makes me feel normal because I eat what I want every evening. At 55, I finally don't wake up each day thinking, "I've got to lose weight, so what am I going to eat today?" I also fast 24 hours twice a month solely for autophagy.
I'm 55 yrs old & lost 20lbs in 3 months. I started doing daily 16/8, and now I do 20/4 daily & I feel like I can do this for life. There's no reason to go off. I eat everything.
I do the extreme version of intermittent fasting (one meal a day) plus I'm on the ketogenic diet, and lost 50 pounds in 3 months. On average I exercised about 4 days a week.
Thanks Megyn, but it's not "trendy" and it's not "new". This is what our anatomy actually requires to properly digest and use our food as energy. It's science. Plant based eaters do this often, like myself.
I fasted for 2 weeks and lost 20lbs. I was only eating on Wednesdays, Saturday & Sundays. I had to stop because I started experiencing vertigo symptoms. Now I’m doing the OMAD diet which stands for one meal a day, it’s day 3 and have lost 4lbs so far. We’ll see how this one goes, but so far Im loving it.
Lisa Austin I ate all my favorite foods but like half the portion of what I was eating . I would eat cheesecake but cut it in half etc . So I’m getting less calories. I would not eat after dinner . If I did something like popcorn or fruit . Lots of water or unsweetened ice tea.
Jennifer’s Young aww thank you! Yeah it can be done . Eat half of what you normally eat . So you won’t bing because you are still getting your favorite foods . Lots of water and unsweetened drinks , ice tea . I won’t really eat after dinner . If I did because of something social . I’d eat something like fruit , popcorn . Eat cake but cut it in half . After a bit that’s enough & you get used to it . Good luck!!!❤️
@@cherie3283Thanks a lot! I will take your suggestions seriously. Yeah I think I just need get used to a smaller amount of my favorite foods. I’ve been doing this for about 2 weeks and I’m feeling amazing. I’m going to do this for a whole year!! I’ll try and tell y’all about my journey on Dec. 31 2021🙏🏼💙
In 5 months i went from 134lbs to 106lbs, Spiritual and IF fasting. Walking on an empty stomach everyday (10,000 steps). I have a 3, 5, and 7 years old. Thank you Jesus. This feels like a miracle. 🤍
The first week was not so easy. I transitioned into this pretty easy. I take a Keto supplement-drink that I sip on all day, and I eat after about 13-18 hrs. I eat 1 meal a day, sometimes two. The weight started melting off of me pretty quickly. I love this lifestyle!!
when she talks about how she looks forward to fasting, i didn’t think people understood that. during a fasting period, i feel so much lighter, energized, and agile. working out while fasting feels amazing.

You're doing the 18/6..I'm doing the 16/8..on day three..I'm trying for a couple weeks to see what happens 🤗
people over complicate things, it's really simple. When you eat, insulin goes up and starts to do it's job which is storing food/energy for later. When you don't eat and your insulin is down your body will burn fat for energy. Pretty basic idea to understand.
That actually makes alot of sense lol
It’s not so simple as some believed it puts body into starvation mode
Absolutely
That looks just like a normal eating schedule to me LOL how were you eating before?
It’s what you eat too, unfortunately lol
That’s amazing hope your doing good!
Well God bless you and your journey ❤
America is too addicted to food.
Damond Williams yes.... from the fast food and junk food that’s too accessible and pushed by corporations...salt, fat, and sugar create these addictions.

Damond Williams yes we are - because our food is laden with crap that makes us so. I’m in Thailand now and I feel so much better. Don’t want to go home this week :(
Not just America. I am addicted to food that's why I adapted an OMAD diet so I can binge every day while enjoying the benefits of fasting
Damond, everyone loves to criticize America yet everyone loves to live here.
I'm always really hungry in the morning and it's my favorite meal. I feel sick if I don't eat within an hour (or less).
Breatfast just means when you break your fast
Yes totally agree, we are conditioned to eat as soon as we wake, but waking up is not a reason to eat, being hungry is a reason to eat ! I’m never hungry when I wake

I've been doing this for about a year because I am a cancer survivor..... it helps fight disease!!
Sharon Mickey amazing. Congrats to you. God bless!!
Sharon Mickey oh baby my prayers are with you ....darling you wil fight it ....keep fighting sweet heart

What was your fasting schedule ?
The first time I did intermittent fasting which at the time it was like a crash diet thing for me the weight came off I was around 23 years old since then I’ve done it at least three times and this last time I swear it was the hardest hence I had to exercise in addition to the fasting. for those saying this is a fad and that the way to lose weight is just to eat less: for starters fasting is NOT a fad. humans have been fasting for thousands of years. it is standard practice in many cultures. and if you research it you will discover why it is very effective for weight loss. secondly, trying to eat less every day does not work long term, especially if you have issues around food like out of control appetite and cravings. eric berg and darren schmidt explain all of this very well. do yourselves a favour and take a look at their TH-cam channels.
You said it so well! The time I had on the segment was so short. If there was more time, I was hoping to elaborate more on these points! Thanks for sharing, Alison!

Intermittent fasting changed the colour of my hair from graying to its original colour of black. Let those who eat keep eating. I don't miss food.
k odu that’s dope!

@@YarelySilvas Sounds good Yarely 👍
mazatano congrats on your success with IF! Sounds like you found a schedule that works great for you!!
Well done on the weight loss! How long did it take you to lose the weight?

Khavi Duong what exercise did u do
On days you could eat did you eat what you wanted or stayed in certain amount of calories?
12 hour non-eating? I think 16 hours is a lot more meaningful...
I agree. How is 12 hour eating window even fasting? It's normal for people to eat breakfast around 8am, lunch at noon and dinner around 7pm.
The 12:12 is just introductory to entice u to try. Once u get the hang of it, u increase fasting hours
stanbalo exactly
Henrik Ræder Clausen i do 16 fasting and 8 eating. Sometimes it is 18:6 depends when i am able to eat. Im a late night snacker. So it has helped!
Yep👍
Im 52yrs old lost 50lbs at 50yrs old took me 10months!
Congrats, Melissa! Amazing progress!
Melissa Lewis you go girl! That’s amazing
Do you do the 16/8 method or the 4 days of fasting?
50 months would have been more impressive.
Christina Garrasi I do 16/8
19 lbs since may!!
Spiritual people have known about this for years.
True dat 👍🏻👍🏻
I lost 52 pounds on IF. Where's my invite to talk on Today show? lol
Bryan Roderick by fasting
They should have Dr. Berg on the program
Deiondra Robinson yes!...i agree!
Yeah it's not like he helped 1000ths of people & is backed up by doctors like Jason Fung, aswell science
& history, Keep eating 8 times day, after all being obese gives you eternal life & lots of energy
Yes!!!! He is my savior!!! Ive lost 20 pounds thanks to him!!! He knows IF better than anyone!
Dr. Berg changed my life with IF.
I did too, lost about 40 LB in 2 months.
Miranda George that’s amazing!! I am going to do it for 2 months as well!! I hope I get the results as you!!❤️❤️
Miranda George what did you eat on your eat days
CONGRATS!!!
@@icronixi8063 did you get any results?
So inspiring!!!!!!
Fasting is awesome lost 23 pounds. I realize u don't have to eat breakfast and I look 10 years younger. It really works!!!!
Olga Rodriguez how long was your eating window?
Gabrielle Cunningham about 6-7 hours
Actually eating breakfast is really not bad..as long as u keep the eating fasting hours it is all good
Olga Rodriguez how long did it take you to lose the 23 pounds?
Only 10 years younger....smh!!!!
Intermittent Fasting WORKS...I have also lost Tons of weight doing this but you CAN'T eat CRAP!!!! That defeats the purpose!!!
PeaceFan1 when Megyn said "you can eat whatever you want", the crowd breathed a sigh of relief. Too bad she gave wrong info. Thanks for pointing that out 👍
Finally. Someone with some common sense. Couldn't believe this silly bird saying you can eat what you want all the time
Im confused...if its just a matter of deficit and calories, why cant you eat whatever you want? Besides the obvious reason of improper nutrition
Whole point of IF is to be healthy..so yeah do not eat junk foods and crap.
Especially OMAD (One Meal a Day)
Real food foods don’t require an ingredient list.
Do you exercise?
pauline Damiana yes I workout at home. I do pushups, jumping jacks. These I can do anywhere.
@@Sanaiya14 I eat until I’m fully satiated. I never measure the amount I eat.
This has so many benefits. So good for you. Back in the day....everyone ate 1 meal a day. It's the natural way to do it.
I did it for a month and lost 25 pounds
Did you do keto at the same time? Or did you eat healthy carbs?
what did you eat on I.F?
How do you get past the feeling like you're going to vomit? When I go too long w/o eating, my stomach acid gets all churned up, and then I feel nauseous! I also get a headache, if I go too long w/o eating. How does one get past those things? I couldn't imagine!
Deberina Emelander you should look into APV capsules
@@teddyloet6731 I didn't know they existed! Do you have a recommendation?
Ramadan Mubarak!
I don't think it's healthy to not drink water
So true. I’ve been doing 20-23 hours fasting and I’ve lost 8 pounds in 11 days :)
That's amazing! Congrats on your progress to-date!
Sumaya Kazi thank you!
I lost 15lbs in 7 days counting calories. I eat from 11 to about 6 then I'm out of calories and "fast"
Jay Dee A little bit of Everything awesome! Id probably loose more weight if I went to the gym but I don’t so I’m working on that to increase my weight loss. Still have about 250 pounds to shed
tonythesom What frequencies?
Eating from 8am to 8pm? That's not even fasting. Do people in America eat from the minute they wake up till the minute they fall asleep?
Yes. We have been taught (a myth perpetuated by our food industry), that in order to keep our metabolism high, we need to eat 6 small meals a day. Except, the only thing that does is spike our insulin levels 6 times a day. See all our fat guts? Sugar and eating/snacking all the time.
unfortunately, yes. Unless you have been educated correctly, the assumption is to eat asap and have a full dinner
Eat for eight hours like from 8 to 4 or 10 to 6 and then fast
IF has worked for me. I do the 18/6 hours, I have lost 16 kg within 10 months! I am a short person and I was weighing 71kg,now I weigh 55kg and loving it😊👏
I'm at 72kg and I want to get to 55kg or just under 60kg. I'm 165cm. I'm starting OMAD, hopefully I can achieve it
Hey tell me,, is it OK to do intermittent fasting daily, no even take one or two days break?
I lost 62lbs before becoming pregnant... (Was infertile, given 1% chance to conceive)
Congratulations!

Oh my so happy for you
This gives me hope 👍🏾
I did the intermittent fasting 16:8 an it was honestly not that hard the majority of the time. My eating window was 8 a.m to 4 p.m. I always went to bed at 9 when I was doing this so I wouldn't feel too hungry. But it was only really hard the first 3 days. It's worth doing this! I tried everything before this an nothing helped. A side note also with anyone that has pcos, you know how hard it is to lose weight! This will hopefully help you because it did for me.
How much weight did you loose?
15 ibs in just a few months
I have used intermittent fasting for a few years now. And In a nut shell, yes it works. You should try it if you want to lose weight.
A few things I’ve observed:
So if you don’t track your calories you can end up spinning your wheels for nothing, even using IF.
citizen762 to add to this, keeping a close eye on your net calories is also helpful.
citizen762 awesome observations! Thanks for sharing with us all.
Exactly !!! Could not say it better! ;)
citizen762 do you know what would happen if you stopped intermittent fasting?
Lori Franklin I also do 2 ACV drinks a day. I think that also helps. 👍🏼
Thank you, you answered some of my questions with your comment =)
I’ve always done this, not on purpose but because I never eat breakfast as I’m never hungry when I wake up. Sometimes I only eat dinner.
It’s true we really don’t need that much food.
Apple Cider Vinegar diluted in filtered water; I use one TSP, some people use 2-3 tsps. Don't overdo it 'cause the acid can hurt your digestive track.
Fasting definitely made a difference in my life after a stroke at 45.
The fact that they’re referring to it as “trendy and new” has me in stitches; humans are biologically wired to be capable of fasting for long periods of time for survival purposes, this isn’t some revolutionary diet 😂😂
Looks like u have a lot of it stored! 🤣🤣

People I’ve told about it thought I was crazy; I guess I’m not
I didn’t quite hear the regimen. Is it absolutely no food for MWF? Please tell how you are fasting?
@@Lilbunnyfoo - the simplest way is really more like regular eating of healthy people. Like the "intermittent fasting" I have started, which is not eat after 6 pm, then do not eat before 10 am. That is a 16:8 schedule, but many days I actually do not eat before noon, so that is an 18:6 schedule. It is really amazingly easy most of the time for me - I do not like eating breakfast most days anyway, my major problem that has put on 80 extra pounds was eating throughout the evenings. Amazingly, this has not been very tough for me so far! And yes, I feel much MUCH better and look forward to losing the excess weight and wear some of my former clothes (I never got rid of them, lol).
yes fasting makes you feel like a winner, you dont really feel hungry,
just makes you feel like you have abs, i do 2 day fasts all the time,
fasting puts food into its perspective. i always have lemon water for
breakfast. and enjoy walks

That makes me SO happy to hear! Congrats on your progress to-date. Thanks for watching my segment ❤️
I do 16/8 and feel great. Lost 12 lbs since 1/16. Also started counting macros and eating more clean. It’s not for everyone!
I’ve been doing it for a week and lost 4lbs

Wow congrats I’m trying to lose 60 pounds. How long do you fast for?
Laura Haile 16:8
Gear Turner I’m guessing that means 16 hours fasting and an 8 hour eating window? It’d be a lot more helpful if you gave me the time of your eating window and what you ate.
I just started my 16/8 today and I actually feel good. I know i just started but I have faith I'll stick it out

That's awesome, Carol! Congrats on your progress to-date!

Thanks Megyn, but it's not "trendy" and it's not "new". This is what our anatomy actually requires to properly digest and use our food as energy. It's science. Plant based eaters do this often, like myself.
