      Congratulations! Praying you will experience the reality of God's promise to you, found in Ezekiel 36:26-27, to have a new mind and new desires that will continue to foster your life change. I'm on that journey, too, and have 82 more pounds to go. But it's no longer about the pounds - it's about embracing discipline and loving myself, refusing to use food as a drug, and keeping my eyes on Jesus each morning, Who gives me wisdom and strength for each day and assures me of His love. Blessings to you!

    I lost over 200 pounds 20 years ago. Never gained any of it back, I went from 320 pounds to between 111 and 117 pounds, very stable weight. I wear a size 0/2. I do eat, quite a bit in fact, small amounts several times a day. I also take small bites, eat slowly, and I eat enough protein and fats, no more, no less, enough. If you knew you could eat anything you want and not gain weight, food would stop being the enemy, there is no "good and bad" choices. Food is just food, when I am hungry I have something to eat, not all and not none, just some, if I want more, I have more, if I want less, I eat less because I can have more later, I don't wait for mealtime if I am hungry, I eat and done. Once you stop the obsessing, portion control, calorie counting, chewing 30 times and the hundreds of tips and tricks to lose weight you realize how much time and effort you put into dieting and how that can stop you from having other hobbies and interests. Put food in it's place.

      @TheChief88 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    • @thelogicaldanger
      @thelogicaldanger 2 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      @@TheChief88 Of course they won't literally starve. I mean if someone loses weight solely by fasting/liquid diets/etc, they have not learned any eating habits. At some point the fast/liquid diet/etc will be broken, and they will go right back to their unhealthy eating habits, because they didn't learn any better, and gain all the weight back. Real world experience proves this time and again. Realistic weight loss is slow and steady, it is making small changes at a time, that the person can take the time to get used to the news changes, and to make changes that they will realistically be able to live with (and as they get used to small changes, it becomes easier then to build on that and make further small changes. )

      No matter what happens, it's the food (calories intake) you allow in your body and the frequency of eating (or "binge eating" which is the main culprit). It sounds dumb and stupid but it is what you ingurgitate in your belly that creates eating disorders and chemical imbalances. Once you realize that you take control of your eating habits. Good luck everyone. I'm also on my journey to loosing my own. 😉

      There are many reasons besides weight loss to have a gastric surgery, it can help reverse diabetes type II immediately and it is not an easy option but it helps those who are too large to stay at their weight and lose weight slowly over time the surgery is at tool just like a pair of jogging shoes. You still have to put in the work to get results.

      It’s so easy for people that don’t have weight issues to determine it’s “all” about the effort you put in as to the results you get. I have a child with, hypothyroidism, polycystic ovaries, and a catastrophic back injury, none of which are their fault. When your body is working against you, just eating well and exercising isn’t always enough or, possible, they eventually found a medication that helped. To those that want to lose weight for whatever reason, no matter how you get there be it, medication, diet and exercise or, gastric bypass when you get there, you deserve no less acknowledgement for your journey and successes than anyone else. Some people, need just as much help to learn how to keep their critical opinions to themselves, if only there was a bypass surgery for that!

      That's a pretty simplistic "fix" for a very complicated problem. It's like telling a drug addict to "just say no". Of course people need to move - to build and maintain muscle mass, to get your metabolism revved up and for cardio-pulmonary health, but that, alone, will NOT fix obesity, particularly if you have been overweight since childhood. It requires a complete re-think about what you've been told about what to eat. An understanding of what it means to be insulin resistant and how to eat to change that. And a lot of work to "change the tape" in your head, and the negative self-talk or memories of trauma, that makes you want to self-medicate with unhealthy foods. Like I said...it's complicated and requires a multi-disciplined approach to undo it.

    Whenever I see stories about anyone who has lost a large amount of weight I am obsessed with finding out if they had loose skin. I didn't think Megan would have any bc she lost her weight slow and steady. Maybe being overweight her entire life had something to do with her loose skin. I am very happy her husband was supportive and on board with her weight loss journey. That is so helpful when making a huge life altering change. What I found most interesting is she still had a life even @ her heaviest. She got married, had children, created a home, and seemed really active in her kid's activities. Her life was in photos and videos. I was really happy to see she wasn't in the background and she never looked sad in any of her before pix. This was a good story!

      I lost a lot of weight when I was a teenager, and my grandmother paid for my tummy tuck because I was depressed and becoming withdrawn because of my loose skin. I had a lot of problems with the scar and had to go in for painful follow-ups and revisions for over a year. All of that plus a weird scar that remains to this day screwed with my head in different ways. It was still worth it and I'm so grateful for my grandmother. It was just so painful and scary, I wouldn't go through it again. Still trying to be happy with my body.

    Wow, over 200lbs loss in 15months. So amazing. Great support system as well. Congrats to you and your family! ♥️ Quick question: How come there was so much excess skin? Doesn't eating healthy and regular exercise alone increase production of collagen, which prevents excess skin?

    • @an8127
      @an8127 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      You cannot prevent what was already there, she already had that excess sick to hold the fat but drastically burning off the fat cannot get rid of your excess skin. I actually don’t think hers was that much. The collagen did work but it helped other parts of her body… noticed no excess skin on the face, arms or legs?

    As a body composition coach, overall she crushed it and is crushing it. However, since so many will see this video, there are a couple of things of note:
    You don't have to be afraid of carbs. To lose fat, you need to be in a calorie deficit. Calories in vs calories out. Don't be a carbophobe.
    Love that she is going on walks. Walking is the best form of cardio, especially if you want to maintain muscle and resistance training just like she is doing! Also like the approach that she focused on her nutrition only in the first 6 months. You can lose so much weight just by focusing on nutrition.
    Hiring a coach is definitely key. For accountability purposes but also to make sure you are working out properly.
    Good video overall. Mindset is right. I'd follow her advice.

    The thing is, we all know "what" to do and "how" to eat to lose weight, the issue is "HOW" to get yourself to do it - where's the willpower??? Can anybody "teach" that??? I need to know how to have an argument with myself over willpower and WIN! Y'all make it sound so simple, just do this and this and this, but nobody tells you HOW to have the strength to be able to do those things. Great story though Megan, I'm very happy for you. Willpower is fleeting and will always eb and flow. You have to identify the habits that keep you overweight and then change those habits into habits that support your health and weight loss goals. The diet fix or atomic habits are solid books for that.

      The secret willpower is not needed, it is a lie we all tell ourselves to make us feel bad about not achieving our goals. The key 🔑 like they said is to start small. Make your goal to workout 10 minutes or eve 5-7 mins. My mom has a thyroid problem and she has several joint issues, I told her this app that helped me “workout women” has 5,7,10,20 min exercise and different levels and FREE. They even have an option where they choose which workout you do so you don’t even have to scroll and make your own plan. Long story short 4 months she lost 20 pounds, that is not a lot or may e super fast but 20 lbs is 20 lbs she went from 180 to 160. “You already have all you need to start now”
