My RF is from 2022 und would always buy it again. I love to see that Mazda kept the design in the newer version. It‘s one of the best looking and also somehow cutest sports cars I ever saw. So well designed and so much fun to drive. I love my MX 5.
Coach ,I had a customer with an RX7 so I made sure I test drove it, I enjoyed the ease it turned high RPM's and also drove the Miata and would static tune the suspension on a race car. What I really liked about them is me being 5'8" and 155lbs both cars fit me well, very good driving comfort. I have owned a Mercedes SL and a corvette and what you get for the price Mazda is a great car. This was a very interesting video. Thank you.
Very, very nice, Lauren, great review of a wonderful modern-day version of a British sports car, but it's reliable! Nice looking and affordable, I really like it.
Your driving sequence looks like what I imagine Seneca Creek Road looks like now, my parents grew up on that road in the 20s to late 40s. My Miata likes the twisty and hilly backroads of New Hampshire, it's as if the car was built for these roads.
I bought my 2016 Miata in October, 2015, the Sport model, the base model, $25,000. Cloth seats, no frills. It has 104,000 miles on it, just normal maintenance, oil changes and tires. I did put the Flyin' Miata Wilwood brakes on it, the stock rear brakes didn't like New Hampshire winters. I prefer the cloth top, lighter, less wind noise with the top down, less expensive.
Beautiful car . My dream . I feel I could introduce myself as Bond , James Bond ! The colour is very attractive and more subdued than the Soul Red . PS ; is the passenger ejector seat an option ??
I think these new Miatas are actually the best looking ones to date. I'd definitely be less embarrassed to drive this one than one from the 90s haha! I'm still driving my 91 RX7 though so I've no need to spend 40k on this.
I’m shopping for the previous version NC Miata with the hard top-hopefully the club trim like you reviewed a number of years ago. These cars retain their value pretty well. It’s hard finding one for a decent price.
Laura, enjoying your videos however in your Pros and Cons, you always hold back on telling the known bad stuff.Yes, I do I realize that the dealerships who are loaning you these cars to review, they don't want you to say anything negative about the model or the brand. Please be
well atleast it doesn't look so small anymore, some people might miss that, but i been in the older MX5 generation when they still had the Miata name, and i hated it. they are fun to drive, but it was not so easy getting in and out of them. you're also pretty boxed in, so with this new MX5 i like that it's bigger, but being that it's a sports car it'll likely still sit closer to the ground. but see the problem with the old Miata, was how tight it was. the hard top is definitely the way to go though.
I like the RF Club. However you missed the security point that the soft top has a Metal Plate that covers the top area to the back roll bars. Anybody trying to CUT the roof will NOT be able to access the interior that way - it won't work ! As owner of of 2016 Club soft top the open rear / side view has no blind spots with the top down like the RF. The soft top also weighs about 115 pounds lighter. The soft top is quieter with the top down windows up as the RF has wind buffeting noises at 60 mph or above. The RF is also more expensive by $3400 to $3800 ! My soft top goes up & down in 4 seconds ( 2 seconds for each ) while the RF takes about 16 seconds for each. Where the RF beats the soft top is when the roof is up on noise level but I've never had passengers complain about the noise ( the difference is smaller than you would think ). The soft top takes a little more care to maintain - no automatic car washes. They both have roof drains so parking under trees in any season is not smart as the filters can clog & flood your interior. I drive in 4 seasons & its been a great car.
It seems like the logical competitors for this car are the Subaru BRZ and the Toyota GR86. I don't think it competes with the mustang in the slightest. Maybe the Mini. That said, great review as always.
@@ag4allgood I believe she was referring to the convertible aspect. Keying in on that alone. I didn't consider that before. If you're fixated on a convertible, then those are a couple choices. Otherwise the BRZ and GR86 are practically brothers to this MX5.
I don’t agree with you; it’s overpriced and not an enthusiast’s car. Zircon Sand metallic is the most hideous and inappropriate color I have ever seen for a sports car. It looks like something a baby would leave in its diaper.
Not sure there’s any value in a speed higher than 137? As to horsepower, the S2000 puts out 240 (a huge amount for a 2 liter engine) but it’s 0-60 times are no faster than the Miata.
@@dondgc2298 Your values are no concern to me. Since I identify as Sports Car, I take speed limits and vehicle speed limiters as a patriarchy's assault on my freedoms.
Well, I think they're a close match. "Junk" Miatas are the most raced cars in the world, Playboy has a race series for MX5 and Mazda engineers designed them with motorsports in mind. They aren't starved for oil in High G corners like the Toyobarus.

@@Chicago327 not an enthusiast car? How is that? I am looking at cars and didn’t even consider a Miata until I drove my friends 2017 RF. I was blown away at how easy and fun it was to drive. Great review! Love my 2020 Miata ST daily driver, previously had a NA and NC

What a fun car! Mazda will sell these even in this inflated economy.

GREAT review, Lauren, though I'd likely go with the base roadster. Worried that the RF's complex top mechanism will misalign or fail as the car ages.

I have an ND2, now but really miss the NC. Not that I would switch, but I shopped for an NC before I found an easier to find ND with great mods.

Agree the Mustang convertible is a heavy more expensive car. BRZ / GR86 / Mini are the true competitors.

Too bad you feel that way. You're missing out on pure driving bliss.
Are we talking about a car with only 181 horses and a top speed of 137 mph that identifies as a sports car?
Tell me more about the pride month.
