    Funny how Irene makes the others look like overgrown Hobbits :)

      @@connmacart lol nah bro, Labrie is like six even, so Irene in heels is easily 6'4" or 5.

      Brilliant song writing, concepts, lyrics, instrumentation, and concept. Overshadowed only musically by ItEC. Probably best overall Ayreon album.

    That was a great show. In fact I was sitting 2 or 3 meters away from Floor and Hannes in the audience. Floor was singing every word of her sister on stage and Hannes was playing with his hair all the time, seemed bored to death 🤣🤣🤣

      You only can get Hannes involved when there is a German tank on the stage!
      Or a grenade under his chair🤣

    Man, when we left the show we all were depressed af that we didn't buy tickets to all the shows.
    Ever since i started listening to the album i literally dreamed about a show like this for this album, and 10 years later it happened.
    Best experience ever. an actual dream that came true.

    Have listened to Heather Findlay from when she was in UK folk rock band 'Mostly Autumn' to when she went solo. One of the best UK singers in my opinion and superb live

    I am glad you got to hear Eric Clayton - the guy with the beard - my favourite singer - you should check him out in Saviour Machine- he also has an album where he sings David Bowie covers.

    AYREEEOOON!!!
    I red somewere that al that gig started as a fanmade initiative (Arjen did not belive it was possible to do). Fans put it in motion and lots of oryginal singers (from album) upon hearing that something like that is possible just wanted to be in so it turned in something really big.

I don't have nearly the same experience as you, but I've spent a short time homeless, lost everything but the clothes on my back. that also gives a new perspective on life. Special shoutout to Anneke van Giersbergen to have to carefully climb off a wrecked car while singing.
    Also as pointed out, Rage was originally played by Devin Townsend on the studio album and played by Mike Mills live. Devin Townsend also co-wrote a few songs on the studio album.

    • @T1hitsTheHighestNote

      Townsend wrote his own lyrics for Loser and the other songs where Rage was featured. Mills here did Mike Baker's part as the Father.

      Yes. As is every other Ayreon album. Even if not as a series of reactions or a long stream reaction, in your own free time, The Human Equation, 01011001, The Electric Castle, The Final Experiment... Each album is a gem. Arjen is a fantastic composer, but it's as a storyteller that he really shines.

  • @kiwitron
    @kiwitron 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    On the Studio Album, Fear is played by Mikael Akerfeldt (Opeth). Anneke sounds like a person with Fear. Mikael sounds like Fear itself

    • @LongandWeirdName
      @LongandWeirdName 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Indeed. Anneke is great, but she's not "switching from a sharp as a knife, calm as a serial killer, normal voice to a disturbing growl in the middle of a sentence" great.

  • @maanvis81
    @maanvis81 2 ปีที่แล้ว +6

    yeah it's a musical, not an opera :). Arjen is of the opinion that Jesus Christ Superstar is the best thing ever made, so it's only logical that he triest to make a musical himself. If you want to hear James Labrie talk for 2 hours to a reactor, go watch his interview with Elizabeth Zharoff :). The character in the end is Rage played by Mike Mills. who also plays the father in this musical ;).
