    Just ordered one. I had another version without maps that I used for hunting. I'll never stop carrying a compass, but These little GPS units are priceless.

      I love mine. I carry a compass as well. But for mapping an area on Google Earth, ya can't beat it

      @@DigsOutdoors I thought this have compass built in? Can you also use this as car navigation?

    • @DigsOutdoors
      @DigsOutdoors  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@BOREDANDWELLBORED It does have a compass built into it, BUT I still carry a regular compass with me incase the GPS would fail (usually from lack of power). The regular compass is a redundancy, or back up plan if you will.
      I think you could, but I already have a vehichle nav unit so never really tried it.

      @@DigsOutdoors thanks for response. I also asked a seller if you can use this as car navigation because you can update the map without attaching it to the computer.... Right??? I have a Garmin GPS I paid $10 😂 with outdated 2012 map, still useful and better than printing a paper from mapquest in 2000's (we thought that was modern technology at the time) we're so spoiled now, outdated maps work just read the street name ahead

      Definitely remember the old ways, but in that same vein, sometimes technology for some aspects isn't a bad thing.

    Gps is definitely not cheating. Some places you need one. One wrong move and your lost. Everyone says they can find there way out. If your one of those people then I can take you to a spot where at least 5 people I know, said the exact same thing. Within the first hour they didn't know where they were

    Does this unit work where there is no cell service?

    After owning this GPS for almost six months, I can say this is the most NON-INTUITIVE GPS I've ever used. Nothing is easy, and trying to navigate around these goofy menus and pages is a nightmare. I owned bunches of GPSs for over 20 years and this is the worst I've ever owned. I wish I'd taken it back to where I bought it before my 'test period' expired.
    The BEST one I've ever owned is the Magellan Meridian which had an optional national TOPO CD that you could load maps from anywhere in the country. Nobody offers anything close these days. I bought several old Meridian GPS's off eBay as backups. Slow to lock on the satellites, but great once it's set up.

      I have used it on a few different areas and they have been there, but I haven't been out of PA yet. With that said though, I'm starting a series on this unit and hopefully it will answer many questions. we will be start from bear basics and go through many advanced uses.

      Good point and I am in no way saying that one shouldn't know how to use a compass and a map. My main thing is, with the photography. I want the least amount of time taken between shooting areas. That's there this shines for me.
